  1. The first goal in any game is so important. Up until then we were well on top. Main had a good shot and Tait got close too if either had gone in it would have made a much different game. As it happened they got the first goal from a disaster by McHugh who otherwise was excellent. To go a goal down and a team mate seemingly badly injured would have a negative effect. This allowed Hearts to use all their time wasting feigning of injuries and gamesman ship that we know comes from a Levein team. When will a directive come from the SFA to tell refs to stop the watch when a player goes down but does not need treatment and jumps up after a few minutes. When will the rule come in that bye kicks be taken from the side the ball goes out. I want to be entertained not watch a player taking minutes to decide he is not going to take the corner or shy and beckon over a teammate to take it instead. Some day a ref will play 10mins stoppage time in game where there has been no serious injury, just normal time wasting. I also don't get the negative comments about our back three. I thought they dealt well with the big no18 and gave as good as they got. If he had not sold the goal I thought McHugh would have been a candidate for man of the match. The worries for me are the lack of creativity and pace in the final third and the complete downturn in Caddens form. Others are saying he is wasted at wing back, the solution isn't to promote him to centre mid but demote him to the bench. As forYodo who wants Robinson out, before you consider his opinion just remember in a previous post he suggested a team selection with McGuire at left back and Trumbull at left mid in front of him. The guy is either troll or knows hee haw about football.
  2. Spot on. And when you look closely at the posters who are Robinson's biggest critics you realise that they have very odd ideas. The teams suggested for the Livi cup tie by our so called experts were enlightening. One had Maguire at left back with Turnbull in left mid field. Good luck with that Another two had back three selections that excluded McHugh who most would agree has been our best centre half this season and instead one had this new untried guy from Millwall in. There are some very good sensible posters on here whose opinions I respect but there are some roasters.
  3. It's going to be fun on here tonight if we lose today. I for one will be taking break from reading the usual doom and gloom we can all expect.
  4. I watched the Clyde game on BT and Craigan made exactly that point. He said that during the week they had played a bounce game and it was the first time that Gorrin looked up to speed. You could also assume that Bigi, Turnbull and Maguire were involved and didn't impress.
  5. It's great how people see things differently. I thought Rose was excellent last night doing the job in front of the back three that McHugh did last season without being caught in possession and giving the ball away regularly.
  6. Tend to agree that white shorts are a no no. Back in the day almost every club had either white or black shorts. Now shorts can be any colour and as far as I am concerned our colours are claret and amber which is almost unique (Bradford only) and those are the only two colours that should be on our strip.
  7. Lots of contracts ended yesterday 31st May so maybe we will announce a signing or two of players who are now free.
  8. Anyone over sixty with an interest in MFC should seriously consider a season ticket. £175 for 19/20 games works out at around £9 a game. Even if you miss a few it is good value. I have had a season ticket since the year after the cup win and now benefit from the concession price. Its a no brainer I will be renewing. Like others I have had no notification of how to renew but I phoned the club to find out more. The early bird offer ends 8th June and I was given my code to enter into ticket master. Have n't used it yet so don't know if it works well.
  9. Of our expected cup final line up, Carson Kipre Dunne McHugh Campbell Main Bowman Cadden not starting. Only Tait and Aldred starting. Hopefully those not stripped are not seriously injured. A chance for Bigi Grimshaw Frear and maybe Turnbull to stake a claim for the one remaining spot. Also no Hartley on the bench.
  10. The ideal scenario would be to win this and guarantee 7th and Accies to be safe going into the last game. If they need something from the last game it could turn into a shitfest and increase the chances of injuries a week before the big one.
  11. It was clear they would never call him out after they beat Morton in the cup with a penalty that was not. Every pundit on the radio said it was not a penalty as the foul happened outside the box. When interviewed St Brendan was asked about the penalty and he said he had watched it two or three times and it was in the box. The interviewer just accepted his answer as gospel and moved on. If ever there was a chance to challenge him that was it but the interviewer shat it.
  12. What gets me is that Cedric gets a yellow card added to his total and Brown who pushed him in the chest gets away with it. One was as bad as the other but then one is the untouchable Celtic captain.
  13. We must appeal the red card. Thomson indicates that he saw stamp which clearly did not happen so he has got it wrong. But will he be man enough to admit it? As for the game it was a great performance up until the red card. We got right into them and did not give them a minute on the ball. I have to admit that in the second half I thought it would be inevitable that they would score. Brilliant performances from all with special mention to Carson, Aldred (Peter who?) Tait what an engine and a big boo to whoever edited the club website highlights for missing his amazing tackle on Sinclair at the end. Alan Campbell what a boy and Main ran and chased all second half. Ryan Bowman did a great job at right midfield to help Cadden out as Celtic concentrated their attacks on that side. Brown got away with backing into Main and sandwiching him between himself and the centre half until about the fifth time when Thomson finally gave a foul. Scott Sinclair is a little rat faced twat who is actually not very good. Two blatant dives. His tactic seemed to be to run with the ball until he was in the box land then fall down. It is nice to see that we have brought in safe standing in the South Stand and the wing of the O'Donnell. The one consolation of being in the bottom six is that we will not play that vile horrible club again in the league.
  14. That was just brilliant. That is the type of game and result that makes all the miserable cold wet afternoons watching 1-0 defeats worthwhile. Right through the team we had great performances and a real togetherness. After the penalty Dunne put his arms around Cedric and encouraged him and Aldred did the same after the winning goal. I thought the three of them played great as a unit. Who would have thought that we would not miss Hartley and the much maligned Dunne would become such an important player. Carson showed why he should be POY. Apart from his game saving save he commanded his area and spreads confidence. Tait was good too. He is so two footed and his versatility allows us to change formation. He started at left wing back and finished at right full back. Then there is little Alan Campbell who runs around terrorising players that are bigger and look stronger and he can play too. Then the captain who does so much to protect the back three and his wonder strike will live long in the memory. Mains dribble at the end and completely doing the wee laddie in the Hearts team just epitomised the strength and fitness of the squad. Levein was hilarious in his interview. He was feeling so comfortable that he was thinking of making a positive change to nick it. What with 5 minutes to go. Our boss did it with 15 to go. He changed from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 then took off our right back and put on a left winger whose cross led to the winner. On to Hampden. Hopefully we can make the top six too. Maybe yesterday will lead to a Hearts collapse and we can sneak in. So many positives yesterday but the doom mongers on here need to find something to moan about so we get moans about the low home support. Whether you were there or watched on the telly for God's sake enjoy a great performance and result against a club who have way more resources than us.
  15. Does anyone know if there will be separate gates in the East stand for those who bought tickets and those paying cash. I have bought my season ticket seat and will head up later if there is a ticket only gate.
  16. Of course he is doing alright. After all he won the last game we played!
  17. Went for Dunne once again. The time they were breaking on the right and had two free men centre and left we looked like going two down. Dunne showed magnificent pace to get back and clear the danger. As for McHugh I think he does a great job almost as a centre half in front of the back three. He wins lots of headers that might otherwise be our three centre halves that would be going for. Praise too for Tait who performed well in yet another position.
  18. Big dilemma for the media. If it is three live games then what game will they leave out? To my mind the best two games are ours and Aberdeen V Killie. The arse cheeks games should be a formality and a bore but no doubt both their games will be on TV. And as for the Texaco Cup in 1971 it still annoys me. I remember getting kicked and slapped as we moved through the shed round to the other goals at half time in the first leg at Tynecastle. And also the Hearts cloggers under McDonald in the eighties were a despicable lot. Always hated them for that team. Still we did beat them in a replay after the post Phil O'Donnell draw at Tynecastle.
  19. Wasn't there today but once again it seems like fine margins to decide the game. Last week against Partick we had a scramble in the box and nearly scored. The ball was kicked off the line and Partick went up the park got a free kick and scored. Today at 1-0 Carson makes a great save and we go up the park and score -2-0 game over. That's why I don't get super excited when we win and go overboard when we lose. However a cup final, a 1/4 final and another three wins needed at the start of February for 40 + points and guaranteed safety in the league, I think every fan of our club would have been happy with that in August.
  20. There can only two contenders if you go by ability and longevity. Hammell had the best first touch I have seen in a defender. Instead of heading a goalies kick out he would step back and kill it stone dead then make a pass. Even in the last two games when he came on he looked class if a bit slower. As for Joe absolute genius whose rubber legs made him the best tackler ever. He was also two footed and often played on the right. It was the seventies and eighties when Old firm bias was even worse. Joe never got a cap because they picked McGrain at left back even though he never played there for Celtic. Boyd McMillan and McKinnon were good with McKinnon the best in my opinion but none played long enough to be considered. It's Joe Wark for me.
  21. Fine margins decide games. If Ciftis effort early on had gone in and not hit Cerny on the leg and Mains lob had gone in we would have won easily. Apart from a brilliant block by Dunne they never looked like scoring in the first half. We have a shot blocked on the line they go right up the park get a free kick and our defence shuts off and it's 0-1. Thought the back three were great with Kipre the pick of them. Cadden continues to disappoint. His crosses never get past the first man. There is no creativity in our midfield especially when Tanner is having an off day. As for Thistle what a horrible club. Time wasting from the start which became laughable after they went ahead. Not helped by a weak ref. Football is supposed to be entertaining and for one team to actively try to stifle that is a disgrace.
  22. Aldred has been a good signing but his biggest impact has seen Cedric up his game. He has been outstanding since he came in. I wonder if Cedric thought his place was under threat. I am not sure who lost their man at the goal. It might have been Cedric as Robinson blamed a young player. Also thought Dunne was excellent once again. Campbell and McHugh did alright defensively but don't have the spark to unlock a defence. While it was not going too well for him I was surprised Tanner was subbed as the two opportunities we had in the first half were created by him.
  23. This forum gets worse. Posters asking for the managers head then being negative about the manner of wins against Accies and Ross County. Now some are debating whether our goal today was over the line. Maybe they wish it was not given so that they could have good moan about how refs have it in for us and then go on to get into Robinson and call for his sacking. Thank goodness for Andy P and Kmcalpin whose posts are usually pretty sensible and objective. Not being at the game today I will ignore the usual negative posters on here and wait for their view for a more realistic take on how the game went
