We have been shite coz we finally have had a summer where we didn't sign the right types of players but this was gonna come at some point tbh. We no longer have the likes of Randolph, Higdon, Nicky Law, Chris Humphrey etc and that's why the standard has substantially dropped, was due to happen some point and that time is now sadly.
Saw a thing in the paper today saying McCall's cup record was won 2 drawn 3 and lost 14 or something like that, I reckon that has to be worst cup record out of any Motherwell manager ever!!
I think its from looking at the game, he needed guys in the team who will track back and do the defensive stuff, with the likes of Ainsworth and Ojamaa they don't give us that and that's why Kerr and Reid are part of the midfield area, I was critical before the game of the line up but tactically its been spot on so far.
Erwin, Ojamaa, Ainsworth & Lawson are all fit and fine, the guys who had fitness tests for us before the game were Vigurs and Ramsden, its just the usual the manager has shat it at Celtic park.
Motherwell line up on Twitter, what the hell is the formation?
Motherwell: Twardzik, Reid, Ramsden, McManus, Sutton, Vigurs, Lasley, O'Brien, Francis-Angol, Law, Kerr
Motherwell subs: Nielsen, Carswell, Ainsworth, Lawson, Erwin, Leitch, Ojamaa
Hopefully today is the day we can finally see Law and Sutton show why they deserve to be in the team, but id have liked to have seen Ojamaa and Erwin up front together today.
Whether we like it or not, McCall will go to Germany, Kenny Black will take the training and does quite a lot of the fitness stuff and that's where we fail, I think its Black that's the weak link behind the scenes, maybe we should change him and bring in a more vibrant younger coach who can emphasise fitness and performance.
I think Twardzik can be a decent goalie as well and did make a few good stops, I agree as well Steelboy that Nielsen could be a decent keeper and I actually had a thought go through my head that had he been in then he might have stopped the first goal due to being much taller than Twardzik. I thought Law was meant to be play right wing yesterday but I lost count of the amount of times he ran across the midfield and left us no outball on the right hand side, I felt we may have benefited with starting Ainsworth to run at their defence and make them sit deeper but sadly it wasn't to be.
There wont be any new arrivals in Steelboy, McCall confirmed this in his press conference on Friday, he say that a couple may be leaving but no more coming in.
Hughes wasn't having a go at Leitch, he was telling something like he better not come on score before having a laugh with him as he came on, it was nothing more than that!
Cummins played the other night against Peterhead for 90 mins so I imagine he is just out of the picture altogether! Although from what I heard of his time at Dundee that might not be a bad thing!
Line ups already announced on Twitter, Clarkson is not in the squad today. Twardzik starts in goal and its Sutton and McHugh up front, I reckon that's our starting team for Thursday night.
Also if you look near the top of that article near the top left, the express has the date of 2009 on it so I cant see that draw being accurate for next week. Edit: my bad just realised somebody said this was before Gannon was appointed and hadn't read the post properly.
