  2. Well done to the club on changing their stance on this. I think this could've been a quick win from the club and could've gained them further favour if they implemented the change in gate price immediately. I trust the club will have no problems in folk "using their discretion" on this in the remaining 2 games
  3. Hughes would indeed be a class act if had scored the same number of goals this season as Andy Dorman. No one on here can argue that Hughes has ability - its how he uses that ability which creates arguments. To me Stephen Hughes does a lot of nice link up play but whenever he gets to the box he prefers to play the ball out wide for someone else to create a chance rather than either have a go himself or play in the strikers and I think that is the reason why some fans demand a little bit more from Stephen as his goal against Hearts showed he has a good shot and even in the midst of a crowded midfield he can find passes which a lot of folk can't see so why is a crowded penalty box any different.
  4. Thats the way it used to be but there was a few seats in the "C" section without any stickers on them on Saturday and there were a sizeable number of seats in the each section of the East stand so its not as easy as some folk think it is.
  5. Michael Fraser whilst a good keeper hasn't been bought solely to replace Smith. While Graeme Smith is a great keeper there is no pressure on him to perform well when we have loan moves as the only other option. McGhee has apparently changed his mind on permanant reserve goalkeepers. Signing a new keeper will increase competition and will keep both on their toes. Meldrum didn't wanna have to potentially sign 2 new keepers this summer so made "back up" plans. If Smith does decide to stay then great and he'll be number one with a good deputy. To be honest I don't think anyone can make any real call into who'll be our first choice keeper next year unless Smith re-signs or we wait to see what other keeper we sign.
  6. That statement sums up our season from the first game of the season. Last year we were gifted space and we done the damage. Teams had started to aadjust to playing us at the tail end of last season and we thankfully managed to still find some space. This season we haven't created anywhere near the same number of chances and our midfield don't create enough or contribute enough on the goal front for us to think about the same rewards. We needed to take today's game by the scruff of the neck and we failed to do it - Regardless of the official site being kind in their match report and saying that St Mirren scored against the run of play - did they fuck - they were always in it and looked more than dangerous any chance which they had.
  7. Who'se to blame for having no depth? He had as strong a bench as he's ever had and failed to properly use what he had to beat a poor St Mirren team. McGhee has chosen quality over quantity and this season the team hasn't shown enough quality to merit any ramblings of top 6 or Europe.
  8. It'll be Hugh Keevins - Real dosser is at the age where his hearing ain't what it used to be plus he probably had his cloth bunnet on anaw!

    St Mirren V Hibs

To get into the top 6 you have to beat teams like St Mirren. If your looking to scrape through with a draw against them then you don't deserve a place in the top 6 in my opinion.
  10. Its level just now on goals scored so if we do make it level on goal difference then we'd be ahead by goals scored.
  11. To many folk are disregarding Melvin's point of view because of the last line in his post. McGhee's article is as usual articulate but by no means is he entirely right. To many goals in the SPL are scored because of bad defensive mistakes and not because of a bit of magic from someone. Indeed McGhee himself has to admit that we'd be much further up the league had our strikers been much more clinical in front of goal. Whilst I hate George Peat with a passion, I have to admit that he is half right in what he says.
  12. Did anyone in the club think to combat this with reduced admission costs? Given it was one of the biggest games of our season, it would made sense to get bodies in. In the 9 years I've been working with the club I find it astounding that our club fail to recognise that the majority of Aberdeen's visiting support don't come from Aberdeen! Aberdeen are the type of club we should be maximising our attendances against and not the bloody Old Firm fans who'll continue to watch the games on Setanta instead.
  13. Whilst I agree with the petition, I can't help but think that even if there were a change in the law, our board would be very relectant to take any seating areas away as they've spent a fortune installing them in the first place.
  14. No matter what side of the park Jim O'Brian plays we can ill afford him putting in a performance like Saturdays. Without what Jim O'Brian and Stephen Hughes create, our only other chance of a goal is Clarky creating something for himself. Our midfield and full backs have to create more. Hammy has a great delivery from set pieces but I fail to recall any goals we've scored as a result of a Hammell cross from open play.
  15. And who provided the cross from the left for Clarky's goal in the same game?

    John Porteous

Jimmy Simpson has been away from Fir Park for a while. I've been at Fir Park 9 and a bit years and came in a couple of year after Jimmy though he can still be seen at Fir Park before some games.

And there are quite a few who've got over 40-odd years service with the club some even started as ball-boys within the club Auld Jack and Jimmy really deserve more for the club for their length of service other than one games hospitality.
  18. And while we're at it don't anyone sing the "He's only on loan" song - it'll alert opposition managers to the fact he's on loan!
  19. We charge the away fans the same price as the Main Stand and Cooper Stand if I remember correct.
  20. Its not you who has to say sorry Andy. Well done for trying and I appreciate the honesty and transparancy in what you done. Only thing you were guilty of was raising expectations. Hard one for the trust. Come out and be open about it but leave yourself open to raising expectations or keep quiet and do things in the background until an announce is made which means the Trust get little credit. As for anyone thinking of kicking up a stink to radio and press - do you honestly think you'll be listened to? Up until a few years ago we had the moral high ground with the cheapest prices which weren't being reciprocated. Moral high ground gets you jack shit though. Our club annoyed a lot of other clubs and fans by sucking up to the Filth and in turn we've backtracked and shat on them. Very few folk if at all are gonna listen to our complaints of being treated like mugs. Boycotting Rugby Park ain't gonna be noticed because of the allowances of the game being on TV. If you enter the cheap home end leaves you wide open to be ejected from the ground unless you sit there in silence with no club colours on. As much as folk hate it the choice is the same as it was yesterday - pay the cash or watch it on TV.

I don't know what kind of initiative will do this. This is up to the Trust to come up with something. Andy Ross sights the example of helping out the under 15 team or whatever as being beneficial to the club. Whilst I can't argue with this cause I can't help but feel its a very small initiative and that the trust are funding something which every other juvenile and amatuer team are managing to finding outside funding for so why can't the club. The same goes for the Trust sponsorship of players and the training kit. The club are finding other sources for players in this website and other kind individuals so I don't really see that as being off real value. I wish the Trust had held off with these initiatives in the past and could've perhaps delivered the disabled enclosure or delivered some fancy high tech machines which John Porteous could use to nurse players back into the squad quicker. I'm sure others could come up with lots of real high value projects but the Trust appear to lack any high ambitions apart from a seat at the board.

Why don't the Trust try and give the fans something to aim at rather than it being the other way around? I know where you are coming from but the trust in my view lack any real vision or sense of purpose. Give the fans a real reason to join the Trust not stay away from it. I'm certain that there are a number of folk who seen the vision at the start and signed up. They are now dis-illusioned through failure to deliver anything of value to the club or the fans. Try winning back some of that initial support. You've got a real opportunity this time in that the current regime are more open to outside involvement than previous high heid-yins in the club which the trust which had Flow and the like came up against. If the Trust wanna speak as the voice of the fans through the media then they should be just as willing to take criticism when it comes on board. A number of folk are criticising the Trust for the sake of it. If they didn't have any interest they wouldn't make any comment. Some folk on the Trust board (not a criticism on some of the newer members) don't really get that they are in a Trusted position and in my opinion are letting the fans down. Passion for the club counts for nothing when you are in a position of responsibility and aren't delivering! P.S. The reason I wasn't there last night was because I've my own wedding to arrange and had a prior commitment. Even if I had a free night I doubt I'd have been there as I'd hate to have wasted a night when in a couple of years time the trust still haven't delivered anything of note. Its up to the Trust and note the fans the prove me wrong.

I can't go as I've something else on but just because Jamie has been critical of the Trust in the past doesn't mean he should go anymore than anyone else otherwise his opinions should be disregarded. The Trust have always been half-ful of well meaning individuals but until they deliver something of real value to either the club or to the fans than a lot of our support are entitled to be sceptical of the Trust. The more things change the more they stay the same . .
