  1. I don't think they will change the venue.

They changed it for Rangers as it is a league game and doesn't really matter. However, this is a cup game (a one off game) they might think they can beat us with less of a crowd.

Also, max attendance 5,000? will that be enough to merit a move rather than a sell out at livi for Rangers?

I think its a definitethat they would play it away from Cliftonhill given it can only handle 1200 given their covered terracing doesn't have a safety certificate.

  2. Myself, Peter Elder and ScottW1886 were at the Rovers game against Devronvale at the weekend.

The Rovers board don't get on well with Jim Ballantyne at Airdrie so can see it being held at Almondvale after Livingston made it easy for the Rovers to play Sevco their early this season.

  3. In relation to the earlier chat about Motherwell choking in Cup competitions Are we forgetting who we exactly are playing on Wednesday night?

    Dunfermline...East Fife...Queen of the South....Raith Rovers....Hibs.....

    Ring any bells?

Whether they happen to have beaten us in the Cup in recent seasons or not Aberdeen are just as, if not more, prone to shitting in the nest when there's a golden opportunity at hand than we've ever been.

The tie is there to be won.

Exactly Andy - their victories against us apart, Aberdeen have been prone to poor Cup displays themselves. Its the beauty of the Cup, form goes out the window and the best team on the night will progress. Was chatting to a colleague who is an Aberdeen fan and fears the worst for them tomorrow night. Should be a cracking Cup tie and I hope the players are as up for it as I am.

  4. Playing on a third rate surface is the wrong way to go, just my opinion tho.

How do you know its a third rate surface? Have you forgotten where we recruited our current groundsman from?

Iv no idea where the current groundsman came from, However the surface is no where good enough and is a step down from what should be provided. If you want quality football then provide better tools, and the guys with the desire will succeed. There are drainage ditches every

ten yards at the creamery, watch the injury list grow. I am certainly not criticising Bathgate, but our younger players should be getting better treatment.

He came from Bathgate hence why I asked. We played our U20 games at Bathgate a few years and I'm sure if we had any problems injury wise then we wouldn't be going back. I'm also sure the last time our U20's played at the Creamery that some of our groundstaff helped out on a part time basis.

  5. It does seem to be the tactic of the authorities- divide and conquer, the same thing happened at Parkhead with the GB. Fans need solidarity.

Fans do need solidarity but I don't think standing beside GB will help. They have caused lots of damage to stadiums up and down the SPL including our own

  6. Although the form book says we are favourites tae beat st midden oan saturday i think we can all agree that our recent record against them is pretty grim reading, i'm pretty sure our last win in Paisley wis the game where Hateley scored a free kick right at the death and i've got a complete memory block about the last well victory against them at FP so if someone could put me out my misery and tell me it would be appreciated

Last Away win was, as you thought, the game Hately scored the free kick.

Last Home win was 2nd October 2010 when we beat them 3-1 with Chris Humphrey scoring early on and Tom Hately (pen) and Jamie Murphy getting 2 late goals to seal the win. Match Report

  7. Not strictly correct - Gannon played Hutch regularly, but McGhee had already played Hutchinson at right back against Hamilton away....

I stand corrected - I wasn't at the Hamilton game as I had the poor excuse of getting married that day. How did Hutchy get on at right back? I know we won 3-0 that day but can't imagine him as a full back.

  8. The best way I suppose, just as long as you can keep making enough profit so as not to require any overdraft facilities. So giving that, I assume we at least broke even last season?

I think we made a profit 2 seasons ago and a loss last year.

  9. I thought we couldn't go into debt as nobody would give us a loan due to our financial history. I'm not sure how long the administration is held against us but I thought that was one of the main reasons for the 'Well Society.

As were are under 10 years since we came out of administration, the club does not have any overdraft facility from the bank.

  10. Depending how things work out at Ibrox the McCall link would be very obvious. I'd say we cross that bridge when it comes. I'm happy Stu is still here but won't be surprised if he's not here come the end of the season - we'll just get on with it.

That is what we all should be doing but it seems Motherwell fans have the Chicken Licken complex of always looking for the sky to fall in. God forbid we ever actually take some enjoyment over what has been a relatively successful spell for the club albeit a spell where we have no trophies to show for it but a lot of happy memories.

  11. And 2 of them sit in the same seat if the Cooper is a sell out...hope they are close

There are often still spare seats even when its registered as a sell out as folk could be sick or held up at work or whatever and not attend.

  12. The club have a record of tickets purchased and by who. Can't see why they wouldn't replace it.

Because someone could pay for a ticket, say they lost it and claim another whilst giving the other ticket to a friend and 2 folk entering for the price of 1.

  13. No news as yet but we should at least open the bottom tier as a pay at the gate option. Give fans every opportunity to attend at the last minute and increase revenue to the club.

I don't think UEFA rules allow pay at the gate for European games.

  14. No-one was able to pull back the curtain into Vladimir Romanov's personal financial empire.

Whilst I agree with the rest of your post the comparison with Hearts doesn't stand up. They already had someone who wanted to lead them down a prudent path to financial stability - albeit one which involved selling their stadium and move elsewhere. Instead they replaced the man behind the curtain for some foreign nomad who they hadn't heard of but who promised them the world. The situation at Hearts is a lot more than Romanov's fault - all the Hearts fans who welcomed this madman and forced Chris Robinson to stand aside have to take a share of the blame but they are all to busy keeping a low profile these days (has anyone seen George Foulkes near Tynecastle).

  15. Remember that yesterday was a Bank Holiday & if Faddy let's lawyers & agents deal with these things, they may have been closed yesterday. With Internet & 24-hours a day updates on Sky Sports etc its hardly surprising that it appears to be taking ages. Think we need some patience on this one

    Yesterday wasn't a bank holiday

  16. I think any signing of Dougie Imrie would seriously test the resolve of the "I've never booed any player whilst they've been wearing a Motherwell shirt" type comments.

Would rate Bob Malcolm much, much lower than Dougie Imrie.

  17. nielsen would be a gamble but you have to assume that mccall would have asked lasley and hammell and maybe even meldrum for their opinions on him and i doubt they want to be playing in front of a muppet in goals. hopefully mcghee hasn't had any input, he knows heehaw about goalies.

McGhee trusted Meldrum to make decisions on goalkeepers back then. Meldrum made a mistake with Krysiak by offering him a loan spell on the recommendation of folk supposedly in the know (one of which was Roy Aitken) and had major doubts in Krysiak's ability if he were to be called on for a long spell should Buzz have got injured.
