  1. Grimshaw had his best game today but I don't think there is much to his game. Don't see any goals or assists coming off this guy. Is he really a step up from Carswell? Pearson was apparently carrying an injury today. The fact that he even played tells you something.
  2. We can agree on the left back. Angol was better than this guy. Fletcher had no impact on the game whatsoever, at least McDonalds gets himself on the ball and doesn't hide, even though his performances have not been great this season we are poorer without him on the field most of the time. Inverness played 2 at the back today with full backs pushed right up into midfield, Tansey as anchor man, three across the middle and the supporting striker dropping back to give them basically 7 midfielders. Talk about flooding the middle of the park! We really needed to get them down the wings but Ainsworth and Johnson were poor and Joe Chalmers was terrible.
  3. I think Moult will score up to a certain level but I'm not sure he's a Top 6 level player. Still our best bet for a goal at the moment right enough.
  4. I thought we'd get stuff like this based on the chat at the game. I disagree. Take away the penalty decision and the game comes down to Inverness hitting a thunderbolt that goes in and us hitting a thunderbolt that comes off the underside of the bar. Louis Moult has also missed free header a yard from the line in the first half that would have got us right in the match. Don't remember Inverness really making Ripley earn his money. Spent most of the match going forward but Inverness have been very clinical with their chances. Not saying there aren't deficiencies in the team but today was hardly "one of the worst", we've played poorer and won this season. Taking off McDonald was a mistake because we were poorer without him on the ball. Also Vigurs is miles better than most of the guys that have passed through our midfield in recent times, and I'll keep that view until the likes of Leitch, Taylor or Grimshaw hit a volley like that.
  5. In terms of TV highlights the BBC does pretty much all it can with the available rights it has. You can say that you want longer highlights but the BBC are not allowed to show them. Comparing Sportscene to MotD is a bit like comparing the Scottish Premiership to the English Premier. You can do it if you like, but it doesn't get you very far. MotD gets about 4 million viewers, Sportscene will get a tiny fraction of that. In fact Scottish football gets way more media coverage that it ought to get rather than not receiving a 'fair' amount. If you take something like Glasgow Warriors they are pulling in more fans than most Premiership level football teams. Braehead Clan, an ice hockey team are getting better attendances than teams like Inverness, Hamilton or St. Johnstone but get next to no coverage in the Scottish media.
  6. To be fair he had more or less had two seasons of injury and poor form. Was going to be difiicult for him to get a gig at a decent level.
  7. We've been shite for a long time, confidence doesn't just return over two or three games, its going to be a long term project over months. If you look at Ross County last season it took them 4 or 5 months to slowly turn things round, making small improvements and then finally finishing very strongly. In our poorest passages of play yesterday we still looked like a team rather than individuals so that alone is a big improvement and I think everyone most look at us now and have more confidence in the shape and organisation of the team.
  8. Josh Law. Funnily enough the only other time I gave him a MotM was against Kilmarnock
  9. Think McGhee is just giving everyone a fair crack of the whip but its pretty obvious our best front two is Moult and McDonald.
  10. Kilmarnock probably should have won, they had most of the chances, although not too many clear cut ones. We did reasonably well though, looked organized and if you can hold out till the last ten minutes in any game you have a chance. Got to give Josh Law a mention, I've been a critic but he was my MotM. Very good today, the left hand side is a concern though because Chalmers was poor again.
  11. Looking a lot better organized and the tempo and style is better but we are still struggling to create chances. Fairly even half in terms of play but Kilmarnock have had better chances. Robinson and Chalmers have been really poor, 2nd half hook surely beckons unless they improve. McDonald probably our best, although his final ball decision could be better.
  12. Lovely day in Ayrshire, lets hope it stays that way come FT.
  13. Kilmarnock are in good form, 4 wins and a draw from the last 6 matches so I don't think we should be getting too cocky on the back of one decent display then losing the plot if we happen to lose. Kilmarnock will be the favourites on Saturday. However it would be good to see another encouraging display. I'd be happy with a point and a good performance. In fact I'd be happy with just the good performance although obviously more would be better. It's our home matches that need to become the 'must' win matches, we might even attract a few more fans to come back if we can put a string of results together there.
  14. Even if Rooney is onside I don't see how you can possibly consider Pawlett as inactive in that position at a free kick.
  15. Can't say he's been a failure and he's better than anyone at the club currently but when I first saw Mark Reynolds I was absolutely convinced he was a future Scotland centre half. Didn't quite live up to that early promise.
  16. Forbes was miles ahead of anyone in our team in the cup match. Contrast Forbes passing ability with, well, any of our midfield that night.
  17. Sounded like an exciting finale and an improvement in performance. Happy enough with a point away to Aberdeen. Hopefully we can push on now.
  18. Well McDonald not been playing as a striker too often. Even so he's got as many goals from open play as any other player on our team this season. Moult is OK, I think he'll get goals here and there but I've yet to see him show something 'a little bit extra'.
  19. Well done Scotty! Still our best striker IMO.
  20. Exactly. People will go on about the defence but currently we have failed to score 2 goals in a league match 12 matches into the season, if you exclude a Frederic Frans OG for Partick. Just not good enough. We seem to have had most of the play and most of the chances and couldn't score. Think it is becoming a big, big problem, more so than the other end as our defensive record isn't too bad.
  21. Seem to remember him scoring a cracking volley into the Davie Cooper end. Can't mind who it was against but might well have been Falkirk.
  22. You must be pleased with Dundee Utd then. Although a bit depressing to think the only league win they've had this season was against us.
  23. Butcher did a great job at our place. Given the circumstances he had to work in I think there is a good case for saying he was our best manager since Tommy McLean. Butcher laid the foundations of everything later managers like McGhee, Brown and McCall did and in some cases superceded them (contrast his cup record with that of McCall for instance). He also got Inverness promoted at the first attempt after relegation, no easy task, and again established them as a Premier level team, something they hadn't been up till then. As for Hibs the problems there were deep rooted and no manager since has been able to sort them out. Not saying for a moment that is record isn't blemish free but he has done well at certain clubs, including our own.
  24. There needs to be some kind of flow chart to see what kind of fan you are.
