He left us with Steven Hammell, Mark Reynolds, Stephen Craigan, John Sutton, Keith Lasley, Jamie Murphy, Jim O'Brien among others and gave debuts the previous season to youth team players like Shaun Hutchinson, Paul Slane, Bob McHugh and Steven Saunders. Talk about re-writing history.

Has appeared on telly = media whore. Turned down Hearts to stay at Motherwell = no loyalty. No shame = the supporters that sung absolutely disgraceful abuse at McGhee at Aberdeen. Terrible appointment = speculative guess based on having knickers in twist He'll be off before they get his training top printed = contracted to 2017 Cunt of the highest order = hopefully less Stegosaurus, more wins
-
Really? I remember him turning down a job at a much bigger club and staying at Motherwell for a 2nd season when he could have been offski. Was that not a degree of loyalty? As for the "tatters" what he actually left was a club with more cash in the bank that we'll probably ever have again.
-
I have some reservations. First of all McGhee's managerial record since leaving Fir Park is pretty poor. Secondly I think the appointment could be seen as a rather 'dull' one, seeing as he has already been here before and might not energize the support like perhaps a completely new manager would have done. Thirdly, there is a section of our support, and I disagree with them on this, that will have the knives out for McGhee from the very beginning due to the circumstances that he left us last time. However he ticks most of the boxes you'd have been looking for. Knows Scottish football. Experienced. Has a bit of a managerial aura around him. Has a track record of taking a down and out Motherwell and turning them round. But whether you like the appointment or not, Motherwell FC cannot afford another failed manager or a St.Mirren style demise could easily be on the cards. We need him to succeed and hopefully he will.
-
You'd hope we would have someone in by Monday. No idea who it will be, doesn't seem to be any firm information coming out. Personally I think we will end up with another relatively unknown.
-
Dunno what this means but he traveled to watch Motherwell away at St. Mirren last season on public transport so I don't think he's too up himself.
-
I'm not saying Craigan would be my first choice for manager but did anyone really expect him to turn round a 12 defeats in 15 away league matches record in a week? Reality check needed for some. We've been catastrophically mismanaged. Whoever gets the job has a hard, hard job ahead of them.
-
Paul Lambert? More chance of Christopher Lambert taking the job!

I wasn't there yesterday so I don't know what the formation was but Moult has played there before as part of a front three. Against Accies the three front players were swapping positions all game which meant Moult played out on the left for quite a bit of the game. It's not a new thing. Marvin Johnson is struggling with an injury and hardly trained last week leaving us with only Dom Thomas, who is inexperienced and possibly needs a little protection and Chalmers is having to cover for Hammell so we are short of left sided players right now. I'm sure if everything was fine and dandy Moult wouldn't be playing there.

I'm not saying we are playing great football but we aren't far away from picking up points. Lost by a goal today when, apparently, we missed some good chances. Our heaviest defeat this season is 0-2 away to Hearts. We need to grind out some results to get the confidence up, then maybe we will see better play but I don't think we are going to go from being pretty dire for more or less a full year now to being a good team.

Finished 7th, had 1 defeat in 13 run after Christmas and we won 3-0 at NDP. I think the phrase "absolutely brutal" has been re-defined since season 2008-09!

Baraclough should have kept his dignity by shutting up for once. The statement he put out today was absolutely embarrassing and full of deluded nonsense. Any success in the future will be down to him, not the new manager. Feels stronger for working with 'constraints'. He's committed to playing an attractive, attacking brand of football. Doolally stuff.
-
The problem with McGhee is not what he did with us, it's what he's done since.
-
Wasn't Baraclough's sketchy management experience I was unhappy with. It was results and performances. Let's be honest about this, a club that is struggling to get just over 3,000 supporters through the gates on a Saturday is not going to be appointing a manager with a great and unsullied record. Therefore Craigan is a genuine contender. He knows the league and the club and that's a big advantage over someone coming in from outside. I also think he has the leadership qualities. And perhaps outside Fir Park he's not a big name but inside he's a club legend and would have the respect of the players. There are things I don't know about Craigan that I would want to know before I appointed him manager but I'd say he's a genuine contender, if he wants the job, and will be on the list when 65+ of the 75 have been cast off.

If he's lucky Erwin will be playing for a Hibs or a Dundee Utd in a year or two from now. Leeds were pretty charitable paying any fee, never mind the amount we got. What was it? A hundred grand for every goal he scored? Laughing all the way to the bank.

Connor Ripley - not the greatest goalkeeper Louis Laing - can't get in the starting XI Wes Fletcher - injured, not really played Marvin Johnson - very inconsistent, poor this seaon Joe Chalmers - struggled badly at times especially in the Morton match, left midfield, left back, seems neither one thing nor the other. Kieran Kennedy - like the look of him, certainly doesn't shirk a challenge, albeit with poor distribution Louis Moult - can't argue with this goals Jake Taylor - awful Theo Robinson - a few promising sub appearances but was terrible when starting Liam Grimshaw - yet to show why he is Man Utd U21 captain. I make that two 'successes' out of ten. Although I accept its still early days and some of those players might come on to a game but I don't think you can really afford to sign 10 players and then have only 2 of them really kick a ball on the cusp of October.
-
Is that where all our fans have gone?
-
Dundee have conceded 9 goals in the last two games. If we can keep it tight at the back there might be an opportunity there.
-
Don't get this 'similarity' between Baraclough and Gannon. Baraclough got where he did in the game through being a nice man but with little ability. Gannon got where he did in the game through having ability but being an absolute snake of a man.
-
It's the senior players that keep this club where it is. It's frightening how reliant we are on guys who are coming towards the end of their careers. When you finally get your wish and the guys that have been the backbone of one of the most successful eras in the club are no longer there you'll find out how wrong you are. You think our Morton line up would have won yesterday? Doubt it.
-
I wouldn't want McNamara anyway but he's not been sacked just moved to the side. He's still under contract for 2 and a half years so I think that rules him out until his contract situation is sorted out. Paatelainen - would he prefer the Dundee Utd job to ours? Former player, bigger club and he lives on the east coast.
-
He was on Off The Ball before the match.
-
Didn't he say he was interested but hadn't applied and wasn't going to interview for the job? Could mean he's been approached and the job is his.

Motherwell V Partick Thistle Sat 26 Sep 15:00
Ya Bezzer! replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
We played 120 minutes midweek when Partick had a free week. Pearson was making a come back from injury and Lasley is 36 and couldn't go into tackles due his booking. We were also holding on to a lead after a bad run of results when Partick pulled one back and therefore got deep just like a 100 other matches I've seen at Fir Park. Think some are being a bit negative. We scored twice, won and I'd give most if not all players pass marks as opposed to none a few days ago. -
Ainsworth - 2 assists and involved in everything good going forward.
