  1. Baraclough should have kept his dignity by shutting up for once. The statement he put out today was absolutely embarrassing and full of deluded nonsense. Any success in the future will be down to him, not the new manager. Feels stronger for working with 'constraints'. He's committed to playing an attractive, attacking brand of football. Doolally stuff.
  2. The problem with McGhee is not what he did with us, it's what he's done since.
  3. Wasn't Baraclough's sketchy management experience I was unhappy with. It was results and performances. Let's be honest about this, a club that is struggling to get just over 3,000 supporters through the gates on a Saturday is not going to be appointing a manager with a great and unsullied record. Therefore Craigan is a genuine contender. He knows the league and the club and that's a big advantage over someone coming in from outside. I also think he has the leadership qualities. And perhaps outside Fir Park he's not a big name but inside he's a club legend and would have the respect of the players. There are things I don't know about Craigan that I would want to know before I appointed him manager but I'd say he's a genuine contender, if he wants the job, and will be on the list when 65+ of the 75 have been cast off.
  4. If he's lucky Erwin will be playing for a Hibs or a Dundee Utd in a year or two from now. Leeds were pretty charitable paying any fee, never mind the amount we got. What was it? A hundred grand for every goal he scored? Laughing all the way to the bank.
  5. Connor Ripley - not the greatest goalkeeper Louis Laing - can't get in the starting XI Wes Fletcher - injured, not really played Marvin Johnson - very inconsistent, poor this seaon Joe Chalmers - struggled badly at times especially in the Morton match, left midfield, left back, seems neither one thing nor the other. Kieran Kennedy - like the look of him, certainly doesn't shirk a challenge, albeit with poor distribution Louis Moult - can't argue with this goals Jake Taylor - awful Theo Robinson - a few promising sub appearances but was terrible when starting Liam Grimshaw - yet to show why he is Man Utd U21 captain. I make that two 'successes' out of ten. Although I accept its still early days and some of those players might come on to a game but I don't think you can really afford to sign 10 players and then have only 2 of them really kick a ball on the cusp of October.
  6. Dundee have conceded 9 goals in the last two games. If we can keep it tight at the back there might be an opportunity there.
  7. Don't get this 'similarity' between Baraclough and Gannon. Baraclough got where he did in the game through being a nice man but with little ability. Gannon got where he did in the game through having ability but being an absolute snake of a man.
  8. It's the senior players that keep this club where it is. It's frightening how reliant we are on guys who are coming towards the end of their careers. When you finally get your wish and the guys that have been the backbone of one of the most successful eras in the club are no longer there you'll find out how wrong you are. You think our Morton line up would have won yesterday? Doubt it.
  9. I wouldn't want McNamara anyway but he's not been sacked just moved to the side. He's still under contract for 2 and a half years so I think that rules him out until his contract situation is sorted out. Paatelainen - would he prefer the Dundee Utd job to ours? Former player, bigger club and he lives on the east coast.
  10. He was on Off The Ball before the match.
  11. Didn't he say he was interested but hadn't applied and wasn't going to interview for the job? Could mean he's been approached and the job is his.
  12. We played 120 minutes midweek when Partick had a free week. Pearson was making a come back from injury and Lasley is 36 and couldn't go into tackles due his booking. We were also holding on to a lead after a bad run of results when Partick pulled one back and therefore got deep just like a 100 other matches I've seen at Fir Park. Think some are being a bit negative. We scored twice, won and I'd give most if not all players pass marks as opposed to none a few days ago.
  13. Ainsworth - 2 assists and involved in everything good going forward.
  14. Actually thought it was a better game than we've been seeing lately, as I said at the game, I thought Partick weren't bad at all, moved the ball around well enough, they just lacked end product. Still think we are weak in the full back positions but Kennedy has made a good impression. Johnson was better today than against Morton but we still need to get more out of him. Down the spine of the team we looked a lot better - Kennedy, McManus, Lasley, Pearson, Moult, McDonald.
  15. Lasley and Pearson did well today for the most part but Pearson ran out of steam and Lasley was one bad tackle from a red card so obviously our midfield became less effective later in the match.
  16. Yes, standard 4 4 2. Thistle have had more chances but I think we've looked more dangerous.
  17. Think we have been much better so far, but are defending a bit too deep when Thistle have the ball. Partick much better than I thought they would be, far from the worst team we've played this season. Players look up for it but need improve our out ball and final touch.
  18. Partick didn't have a league cup match midweek, we did and it went to extra time. However maybe we showed so little effort in that match it won't be a factor today!
  19. This is pretty much the case but my view on it is who do you expect to act more responsibly? Some daft laddies or the police? Or some daft laddies or stewards? I went to games in the 80's and 90's and there is nothing even approaching that level of hooliganism today. It's not even close. I'd rather fans didn't run on the pitch or throw flares and don't condone either but the bigger picture is that I'm much more worried about the scandalous press sensationalism or the actions of police than I am about the actions of our supporters. Does anyone genuinely feel unsafe at a football these days?
  20. We have been very poor this season but do you really think Hamilton Accies played superb football? Or Dundee Utd? Morton? We aren't getting smashed 5-0. It's been 2-1, 3-2, 1-0, so of course it's margins. In 4 out of 8 matches this season 1 more goal would have got us more points out of the game, whether it be a draw or a win. If we 'simply aren't good enough' rather than it being margins we have no chance and will finish bottom and there is nothing we can do about it. On the other hand we can try and concentrate, get an extra point here, an extra point there, maybe steal a win, get more points on the board and then confidence will start to go up and everyone will be singing from the same hymn sheet again. Maybe then, if we get to that point, we can start looking for some silky soccer. Right now, however, there is a lot of shit shoveling to be done.
  21. But also irrelevant when you are dealing with players on a day to day basis that have played in the Champions League, internationals and the upper levels of English football.
  22. If we lose today your next bet should be Motherwell - Relegation.
  23. I think McManus has been a very disappointing signing over his time here but I doubt very much if we are awarding player contracts on his say so. In fact I'd be pretty confident that no player has any influence over signings.
  24. I like Shiels as a character but I think he would be too polarising. We need someone who is going to bring everyone together because obviously there has been a split in the camp and tensions among the playing staff. Shield would start an argument in an empty hoose.
