  1. Wasn't the last win at Fir Park the first one Rangers had got there since Walter Smith came back?
  2. Good shot stopper but hopeless on crosses.
  3. Good stuff. Most be getting old cause I was at most of those games!
  4. Celtic have Hooper, Stokes and Samaras all under contract for the foreseeable future, plus Maloney and others. Can't see Celtic coming in for him. Rangers on the other hand.... I don't think he will go down south though. He's tried that a couple of times and its not worked out for him. He knows this league, has been relatively success here and I think he'll stick to the SPL. He'll either go to a bigger club in the SPL or stay at Fir Park.
  5. We've already beaten Celtic at home, we need to do over Rangers as well in this season of seasons. It will also probably end Rangers title hopes and put to bed any end of season controversy which I'm sure everyone wants to avoid. Rangers at Fir Park was arguably our worst home performance of the season but I think we'll be up for this one with the Final coming up and we will want to prove a thing or two.
  6. Not a fan of Runrig or Celtic music for that matter but I was in a pub up in Crieff recently and they had some live music on. Guy ended with this, everyone was totally jaked and it got pretty wild, everyone singing and dancing around. Great stuff. Again, everyone knows the words. PS - Crieff pub guys version was much better than that Runrig pish! PPS - Oops, meant to edit. Delete the top one!
  7. Just finished up my last job so it will depend on getting something else between now and then.
  8. You can't win. We take 4,000 regulars and we get called a wee diddy club. We take 20,000 and our support is 'glory hunters'. Personally I want as big a Motherwell support as we can possibly muster. I'm sure it must be a big boast to the players to look to our half of the stadium and see it filled with flags, scarfs, colours and singing. And although I go to virtually every home match, there are plenty people who just can't make it with any regularity. People who can't afford the prices of modern day football, people who work weekends, people who work shifts or only get to see their loved ones at weekends, people who live in other areas of Scotland, or England or abroad. Then there are people who maybe aren't so interested in football but want to support the town in a high profile match. There are lots of reasons why people will go to this game but not turn up normally. And one other thing. Are they really glory hunters? If you are really hunting glory doing so by supporting Motherwell in a Final against Celtic probably isn't the ideal way to do that. If you hunt glory you don't support Motherwell, you support one of the other two, one of which we are playing in the final. The only glory hunters at this match will be in the other end.
  9. No, not thinking of that game. Weird, I thought Derek Adams scored in that match and Spencer got the winner. Looked it up, 1-0. Memory playing tricks!
  10. Mad televised rants against the Old Firm were classics. I suppose the one match I most 'connect' to John Boyle was the 2-1 win against Rangers at Fir Park when John Spencer scored the winner on his debut. Seemed like a new era of success and big name signings was coming...
  11. Yeah, you get a sort perverse pleasure watching the celebrations of the other teamsafe in the knowledge that we come back, like 'Ha! 3-0 you think your going to win don't you?'
  12. Strangely we've not had Willie Collum in a league match all season until now. He did ref the League Cup Quarter and Semi finals though against Dundee Utd and Rangers. Here's our Ref Record! (wins this season) McLean (4) out of 4! Cup final ref please! Tumilty (3) Brines (3) Allan (2) Muir (1) Norris (1) O'Reilly (1) Collum (1) Conroy (1) Richmond (1) Murray (1) Thomson (0) McDonald (0) Finnie (0) Conroy (0) Does anyone know if any penalty points picked up by players in the league run in can effect their availability in the Cup Final?
  13. Semih Aydilek! Might as well but Nessie, Sasquatch and Chupacabras on the list!
  14. Obviously we are not the favourites but it's a final, it's a one off game and we can definitely win it and I hope our supporters and club staff and players have that attitude. Celtic are beatable, we have already beaten them and our defeats have been close ones. One game away from glory, one great performance from lifting the cup. Celtic will be there next season or the season after that but it might be another 20 years or longer before we get this chance again so when the chance of victory is rare you better take it. The fans should give the team 100% backing and hopefully the players give us 100% on the field. If they do we have a chance of having the greatest day in the history of the club. 'MON THE WELL!
  15. The 5-1 humping would have been under Labour/Blair. Might start voting Tory now!
  16. Lot of the old casuals out yesterday but didn't personally see any trouble I wasn't down Battlefield Road though. Fans seemed to be mingling with no problems. Was annoyed to see a few of the 'Sieg Heil Motherwell' types though as I personally cannot stand that but there was only a handful of them all jaked on Buckie and they looked more likely to fight among themselves than other people. What a rabble!
  17. (Wilson) Humphries scored the third goal for the winning team in the 1952 final... maybe.... (Chris) Humphrey scores the third goal for the winning team in the 2011 final....
  18. Ya Bezzer!

    Humphrey

Maybe it will be third time lucky at Hampden for Humphrey but he's not kicked a ball in either semi final. I don't think he is anywhere near being a Premiership player never mind Liverpool class.
  19. Goalkeeper and the two centre halves did well but I give my vote to....Jamie Murphy.
  20. Well, 15 actually. Hopefully he get the other 5 in the final.
  21. Reckon we'll take 6,000 - 7,000. I think we took about 8,000 the last time but the kick off time, tv and economic climate will probably mean we don't take as many. Total attendance of approx. 10,000-11,000. Better get up now!
  22. This is quite a few years back mind, but I was in a pub in Glasgow and Chic Charnley was at the next table. He starts talking to another footballer (I've forgotten who it was now) and he was saying that Buff Martin was making a fortune from running an off-license.
  23. In a semi final you play your most experienced team - no blooding youngsters. I think Steven Saunders has really come on this season but I'd play Ross in front of him for this game and the same with the Craigan/Gunning.
  24. This sort of thing makes me cross. Qualifying for Europe is just a 'bonus'? So what is winning what for us would be a meaningless game? Going on this season's attendances alone, those three European matches were worth about 5 home SPL gates, quite a bit of money for a club like others. More than a 'bonus'. It also raises the clubs profile, attracts better players, gives great experience to the young players and lots more benefits. If let's say no trying to hard in this game gets us this 'bonus' that's exactly what we should do. Not for Rangers, not for Celtic but for Motherwell. Nobody looks after you, you have to look after yourself. Motherwell should do or not do whatever they need to ensure qualification.
  25. Well said. Craigan isn't the greatest defender we've ever had at the club but there have been a lot more worse ones than better ones. I remember Kevin Christie! Guys like Craigan, Hammell, Lasley and Reynolds are or were the spine of probably the most consistantly successful Motherwell team since the 1950's. You can't give them enough praise as far as I'm concerned. He is getting older but I do think he probably still has a least another year in him. However if he goes to get one last pay day good luck to the guy. A great servant to the club.
