  1. I had us getting a point from this fixture with our first team and that was maybe with a bit of claret and amber in the lens. St Johnstone are a better team than us and they are certainly better than our 2nd string. I said it before with the fixtures we have (and the injuries/suspensions) I think 5 points would have been a decent haul from the fixture going up to the break. It's going to the post split fixtures and there is no point getting upset about being beaten by better teams.
  2. The problem is we are playing better sides and mostly away from home in the run up to the split. At least we've shown over the last couple of weeks we can beat comparable teams - Kilmarnock, Dundee Utd, Ross County. Obviously we aren't in a great position but I don't think we should go into melt down if we fail to get anything away to Hibs for instance or even away to St Mirren.
  3. This. Going to be a similar situation as when Robinson took over from McGhee and it went to the bottom six split matches. If we can take 5 points from the games leading up to the split that would leave us looking for 7 points post split. Doable but still a bit nerve wracking. Would be a good time to break the Accies hoodoo though!
  4. My problem with Polworth is he completely disappears rather than him making mistakes. We've took a hard one today but let's not forget we've won nearly as many matches in the last couple of weeks than we have the whole rest of the season. Honestly, with this group of players, I'd be relatively happy if we take a proper doing every 8th game and win 3.
  5. 10 men, 3-0 down after half an hour or so against local rivals. Aye, this could be a sore one! Think they'll hear the managers loud voice at HT.
  6. 12 penalties conceded and 6 red cards this season. No very good is it?
  7. Normal service is resumed! We really are Accies bitches these days.
  8. There's times when we could have played all night and not scored. Tonight we could have score 5, 6 easy. We've got a goalkeeper, we defended OK, we created and scored goals. We're not going to dominate for 90 minutes most weeks but all the signs are there that we are going forward again. Hopefully we go to Celtic Park now with a St.Mirren/Livingston type attitude.
  9. Glad we've got Kelly in goals tonight rather than Chapman!
  10. Away to get a Magnum out the fridge. Prepare to celebrate boys!
  11. Unfortunately the sweet will fall during HT.
  12. Always thought this season that St Johnstone were better than their league position and Dundee Utd were much worse. Even though they have been Top 6 most of the season I still think they are 1 of 5 teams that are potential relegation candidates. We need to beat relegation candidates....
  13. Better on the ball than 90% of that squad. He's not a Turnbull type that single handedly turns the whole thing round, he's got a lot to learn and a lot of mistakes to make but by god he's a better player, with more potential than a lot of dross that's been played over him down the years. You don't do anything with non players. That shouldn't be something you even have to say but in Scottish football running about like a div is considered a footballing attribute over, say, passing, control, positioning, crossing, shooting.... I honestly despair at the garbage we give a chance over technically better youngsters. There is something badly wrong with our game but maybe, just maybe SOMEONE gets it now. I hope so.
  14. As Motherwell win for the first time since October....
  15. Radical thought but maybe we could...you know...score a third.
  16. I have no idea how true these figures are but.... if Long, Seedorf, White, Lamie, Chapman, Polworth and Grimshaw are earning the same or up to 50% more no wonder Allan Campbell looks 'jaded'.
  17. Late to the game but not surprised by the score line or the performance.
  18. I probably did see Edvaldsson play but don't remember specifically as that was right back at the beginning of my Motherwell supporting career and I was probably running about the terrace and more interested in swinging on the crush barriers. Nonetheless RIP big chap.
  19. Totally agree. Mods need to have a long hard look at themselves. Personally I hadn't posted in the thread for a while but the topic is still absolutely relevant to this season and what's happening. If individuals are going too far in the thread deal with them separately. The official club media outlets can act as Motherwell Pravda. We don't need it here.
  20. If you are 13 games without a win (including cup match) and you are bottom and you then you can't win against the team in 2nd bottom who is it you are actually going to beat? We have Dundee Utd at home afterwards which I think we have a reasonable chance in (depending on result on Wednesday) but after that we have four away games, including Celtic and Hibs, and our only home match is against Hamilton who seem to find it pretty easy to get points on our ground. My fear is if we don't win on Wednesday night or on Saturday our confidence just nose dives going into a tough fixture list. By the end of Feb the dye may well have been cast. We can't go 19 games without a win and expect to stay up. Realistically you are looking at 40 points to avoid the play off. We've got 19 points from 66. We now need 21 points from 45 points. That's a big step up in performance. Time is running out rapidly. In my opinion we need to win against County. We need to win for ourselves but we also have to take 3 points off a rival.
