Don't understand why some put so much focus on accumulated points to date. So far this season, St Mirren have displayed a significantly superior standard of football which has been partly undermined by some ridiculous Tommy Craig signings. They now have a bit of momentum under a novice manager and look capable of picking up a few results. We meanwhile are a team devoid of shape and spirit, a team that has not improved one bit since the Iceland sham, a team that has had less than 50% possession in just about every game and has the 2nd worst goal difference in Britain. We don't look capable of outplaying anyone at present and we will finish 11th at best if the players don't react to Baracloughs methods very soon. No greeting if we go down though; the club has sleepwalked into this predicament. If we then need to cut our cloth accordingly and become a Falkirk/Dunfermline then so be it - it's pretty much nailed on under the financial constraints of fan ownership anyway.
  2. We were woeful in Aberdeen. A must win game and we didn't threaten until the last 5 minutes. If it hadn't been for an outstanding performance from Hutchinson, we'd have lost by 2 or 3. The players were also playing for an 'extra few quid' that day.
  3. Think the question has to be asked regarding Ainsworth tonight. Deplorable attitude.
  4. If we were to extend our losing streak to 7, there'd be no option but to sack the manager and bring in a Craig Brown type. I'm sure our prospective owner could stretch to a pay-off given his role in recruitment.
  5. I doubt there's been a season where we've had lower possession stats. Brutal watching a team that isn't the slightest bit comfortable with the ball. Tonight won't be a defining one and I appreciate the constraints but I'm already inclined to think Baraclough is out his depth, by some distance.
  6. How much space did Stokes have there? Atrocious.
  7. Centre midfield of Ramsden and Carswell... Who's the captain tonight?
  8. Must stop broadcasting how skint we are.
  9. Adam King. Forest tried to sign Holt around a similar time.
  10. Jason Holt to be released by Hearts. There's a player you could develop and make money out of.
  11. I think our rapid decline would suggest Faddy and Hutchinson inspired those around them. It's further evident when you listen to the odd soundbite. And remember how much the squad got a lift when Faddy got fit and started playing through the middle, just as we turned the season around.
  12. The game has changed globally though. Best attackers in the world are expected to put in a good defensive shift.
  13. Seriously? While defending doesn't come naturally too him how many times has a midfield player ran away from him? And for all his quality on the ball, he's drifted in and out just above every game I've seen him. I think it's a possible lack of desire that would see him out the door.
  14. His missus turned down Oldham. Talented player but he has proven to be a poor signing by McCall because he never fitted into our system or style of play.
  15. Must be a mix-up with George Friend as he's on a 4 year deal at Boro and would be a significant step up in quality. I'd have taken Dayton at FP a couple of years ago but haven't seen him since leaving Killie.
  16. Vigurs needs players running beyond so hopefully Pearson compliments him well. Possibility of another signing before Wednesday. Sounds like Baraclough is getting well backed.
  17. The way Baraclough is talking, there is money to spend and 1 or 2 could have arrived last week. Obviously we want a few out but we appear willing to progress signings before anyone leaves. Slight concern for me is the relevance of Baraclough's 'database' to our budget.
  18. Think Scott Boyd is a bit of a hero up there but so were Lawson and Vigurs. Will be surprised if we are in for a centre half after extending O'Brien's deal.
  19. Ross County supposedly in for Porter.
  20. Nielsen had a good game in the 3-3 with Celtic and then was dropped for 3 crunch games. Dropped for a keeper we had no intention of offering a new contract to. He clearly wasn't trusted by the previous regime (or maybe McManus chose the team?). As it happens, I think Twardzik has the potential to develop into a keeper that will play at a higher level. 22/23 is young for a keeper. For what he lacks physically, I think he has a wee bit of steel about him and plenty of natural abity. Unfortunately he has a defence in front of him that will undermine any potential to develop at present.
  21. If Anier is available for free I imagine we would have been aware of the situation. Can look forward to him given McManus the runaround in a couple of weeks.
  22. Mark Wilson was a very good player but he's look finished since returning to Dundee Utd. The only reason for signing him would be to give McManus a pal.
  23. With Parkhead and Tannadice to follow it's imperative we pick up something here. Imagine we'll revert to a midfield 3 with Carswell or Reid on Eremenko. With Ojamaa out, scope for Erwin and Thomas both supporting Sutton.
