  1. Watched one or two Baraclough videos tonight, he came across pretty well but when you hear the manager of sligos' league rivals was Steven Kenny it sets a few alarm bells ringing. Judging by what McCall said on Saturday, I think Baraclough is the well researched man that phoned McCall to quiz him on all things Motherwell. For some reason I can't see us going with Van Der Gaag.
  2. Media will continue to peddle the idea that their pal Butcher was the front runner for the job and Motherwell are disappointed.
  3. Relieved that Butcher is out the running and hope that he wasn't in serious contention. He'll now continue to pick up his full wage from Hibs.
  4. 5 candidates ranging from 9/4 to 7/1 on skybet and that's including Solano.
  5. Rangers fan according to Richard Wilson on BBC Sportsound.
  6. Twardzik on his way to poty. McManus and ZFA also impressed while I thought Carswell made an encouraging return.
  7. Exactly why Butcher wouldn't get me vote. On the other hand, Craig Brown came in and turned us around when we were in disarray. I'm all for getting the best candidate but all things being equal, a foreign candidate would be a greater risk as it naturally takes longer to settle in and embed their ethos with a squad that has little scope for change before the summer. Id take Van Der Gaag over the others rumoured to be on the shortlist but I'm disappointed by the lack of quality domestic candidates. Lot of the water to go under the bridge yet though. At this point last time round, Sbragia seemed a certainty.
  8. Because we're in a relegation fight and the new manager has to hit the ground running.
  9. He must be told to charge forward though while Vigurs 'sits'. It's been a long time since Lasley played a disciplined role in front of defence.
  10. Andy Devlin running with the Van Der Gaag story. Big part of me would like to see him get it but given our current precarious position, it's a helluva risk to employ anyone that doesn't have a sound grip of the current Scottish game. Not that Butcher would necessarily be safer hands mind you.
  11. Really struggling to see the appeal of Butcher. He was a decent fit for Motherwell at our most difficult times but he isn't the man to take us forward. And given his track record for relegating clubs, he shouldn't be in the reckoning.
  12. Nah hammered him in the chest. Only pen should have been ZFA handball.
  13. Didn't see the Sky Interview with Weir but I gather Butcher was the other.
  14. Some very mixed performances from Motherwell in a game that could have finished 0-5 or 1-1. Overall, solid performances from ZFA, McManus, Carswell, Ojamaa and Ferguson, while Twardzik was a standout again. Celtic lost all discipline as the 2nd half progressed but what a difference when we made the substitutions. Erwin didn't cover himself in glory with the header and dives but he and Ainsworth proved a handful. Hopefully the new manager can fit the two of them and Ojamaa in the same team. Ramsden and Kerr can leave anytime. Lack of discipline, quality and heart. Massive 3 games ahead. Motherwell must get our house in order this week.
  15. Bbc don't know. McCall did mention that one of the candidates phoned him for info during the week and is due to be interviewed. McCall didn't know the guy but was impressed by his research.
  16. Despite the confidentiality clauses, I'd have expected an update from the WS now but they just refer you to Burrows Q&A. Will WS members get a say on potentially revised model before final takeover bid is submitted?
  17. I've not noticed Tony Mowbray in the betting before today. 18/1. That's the kind of left field shout I'd be chuffed with.
  18. Shiels would fit in with the community remit and would give the young ones an opportunity in first team. Knows how to win a cup for a provincial club too. His own intensity tends to undermine him though.
  19. Butcher combined with fan ownership. Just get on the phone to Bryan Jackson the now...
  20. Regardless of my concerns around the Well Society being a sustainable model, the current predicament doesn't sit well with me. Taking over the club with a loan, primarily to address current shortcomings on and off the park, is not financially astute and is inevitably going to lead to some very tight years ahead - at best. I appreciate there isn't many alternatives, if any, out there for fresh investment but I'm distressed by how we have seemingly been driven to the brink by Dempster & her sheep.
  21. Repeat of last year. 0-5. Do not want to go.
  22. Reading between the lines I suspect the WS have done what's required.
  23. If Ojamaa goes, without being adequately replaced, we will be relegated. He deserves to be playing with much better players though.
  24. Seen it suggested a few times that Clarkson was offered buttons. If that's the case, McCall should have came out and told the truth.
