You know it's a bad day when the stadium announcer refrains from reading out multiple motm awards.
-
I think there are far bigger worries than Lasley, especially your man at left back.
-
Seen it many a time but there should be a lot more due-diligence done when there is potentially millions of pounds riding on the appointment. On another point, I don't think there is a need for a scapegoat but the fans deserve a sincere apology when the moment is right. How can we blindly rally around the club and bring friends to the game when performances on the park, and the decisions that lead to these performances, are so brutally inept.

It was genuine comedy today. Looked like someone that had won a competition to play. Baraclough did say that Straker would bring athleticism and energy didn't he?
-
I don't think anyone is suggesting that Van Der Gaag would have been a guaranteed success. In a two horse race though, he had the far better pedigree. Watching the post match interview, I think he's gone.
-
There was a comment from Burrows that Sligo's success in turning over the Dublin clubs swung it in Baracloughs favour. Baffling if true.
-
I understand it to be Weir, McMahon, McCafferty and Burrows with the new owner giving him the nod. If these men have any credibility they'll hold their hands up soon enough. The fact that It was seemingly a straight choice between this fraudster with an insignificant cv and a former player who has managed at the top level in Portugal makes it all the more galling.
-
I think you have absolutely nailed it. It's been sheer fantasy from Baraclough and those backing him.
-
Have it agree with this. Anyone who genuinely see's a professional footballer in Straker is an absolute mile-out. And while I'll give the other signings the benefit of the doubt, none of then looked particularly equipped for spl level today. Performance of grave concern. That team wouldn't survive the 1st division - genuinely.

Amateur of a manager seemingly selected by amateurs. We'll look back on this period as proper red neck material.
-
After today, there is no doubt in my mind that Baraclough has well and truly pulled the wool over the eyes of the selection committee. Him and some of his new recruits look completely out their depth. I can't see him being here beyond the end of the month.
-
Disappointed that the rallying call to bring a friend isn't supplemented by discounted prices and/or fresh push for the well priced flexi tickets.

Having survived a few scares in the 90s I've always been of the mindset that by hook or by crook, we'll avoid relegation. And I maintain that belief this year. Should we be relegated though, I certainly wouldn't fear it like I did as a kid in the 90s. Seasons fly by, players come and go, and I'd be all for embracing the change of scenery. Let the club worry about the finances and cuts it's cloth accordingly. If we're well managed, we'll always have a club to follow through success and failure.

We won't learn to defend anytime soon so use the newly recruited pace, pin a pest of a forward on McPake and go all out attack, 4-3 Motherwell.
-
I think the signs off the park are very good and there is warranted optimism. I've also acknowledged that the signings will take a little time to settle in and the ineptitude of McCall drove us to our current depths. However, given the unprecedented financial backing in conjunction with poorest top flight in modern times, there is significant pressure on Baraclough to progress matters on the park very soon. There is little doubt that had a manager like Craig Brown arrived in December, we'd be in a more comfortable position. I hope Baraclough proves to be a visionary appointment but remain sceptical.

Ross County fans were of the opinion that we were atrocious and they know what brutal football looks like. If your pal Ian is cut out to be a manager, he needs to get his team to do the basics right. Something that has been severely lacking so far.
-
Good to see Murphy has his priorities right. I'd rather drink my own urine than support any populist move by that war supporting unionist prick.
-
Reid a liability yet again...
-
He played left midfield that day iirc...
-
Really? After mucking about with the lineup over 5 league games, he didn't know what his best team was and shat out of making a choice between Craigan and Gunning. Hanging Hammell out to dry in the process.
-
Think that underlines how poor Carswell has been for last 18 months or so. Regarding Baraclough, if it hadn't been for the transfers, I'd have been on his back but today was effectively a clean slate. In saying that, it's unnerving to hear that we're still doing the same basics wrong. One thing you can probably guarantee about Hutchison is that if he develops any doubts about Baraclough keeping us up, he'll make a change.

Today had potential to be a bit of a lottery. Next few weeks are pivotal where the players must bed in well while addressing our inability to defend or maintain possession. Judging by the radio commentary, Grant and Johnson have something about them. Main disappointment for me was to hear that we went with Sutton upfront on his own, a tactic that hasn't worked since Nancy in 2008. Key run of games at Fir Park now. Hopefully get Pearson and Hammell back, which would make a helluva difference.
-
Good to see Erwin still in the starting lineup. Johnson and Dom potentially carry some threat from bench.
-
I do think we are moving in the right direction but think we could struggle today as the players need time establish a pattern of play. Even if we were to lose, I'd be hopeful that we'd turn the corner in the upcoming home games. Nevertheless, I'm swept along with the optimism and have invested some of my Hibs winnings in Motherwell -1 at 11/2.

Very candid listen with some positive news with regards to restructuring of club, players sales and ticket initiatives. I'm enjoying the podcast weekly and it's been a real coup to get the prospective Chairman and GM on, providing an almost unprecedented insight into the running of the club. Fair play to those involved.
