  1. Yeah, sigh of relief that the desperation is not coming from the club. The confusion was unfortunate. It would appear that the goalposts for the society have been moved significantly, possibly due to a poor run of firm on the park - which underlines why an over-reliance funded backing is such a precarious predicament to be in. Now we are back to the original plan of seeing where we are at the end of November and finding out what the clubs model is. Personally I'm not in favour of business takeover being facilitated by debt. Particularly a football club with limited revenue streams. In my opinion, commitment to repayments would strangle any future growth of the club over the next 5 years.
  2. Albeit, it was a 1 year agreement... So the email on Sunday was written by the society and not the club. Indeed Motherwell have distanced themselves from it a little on twitter - despite the letter being signed by the Board. Therefore, the club may not have such an averse reaction to the prospect of 3rd party interest as portrayed in the letter.
  3. An English consortium approached Dundee Utd a few months ago and accies indicated that they recently declined an offer. So there is certainly an interest in premier league clubs. Not that the media are on the case, the identity of potential buyers may be revealed sooner rather than later.
  4. Response from the Well Society: http://www.thewellsociety.co.uk/2014/10/30/well-society-statement/ No doubt that we are toiling to get through the season due to poor performance on the pitch. Why the fuck the Board of a provincial club with no credit facility have continued to adopt such a bullish approach to setting budgets is beyond me.
  5. Have never heard of the main stand security before. I imagine the asset management company is linked to one of Boyle's numerous ventures. In summary though, if this £1million is raised, half of it is going straight to Boyle. The urgency suggests he's in desperate need of the money and the intention is to fleece the fans accordingly. As a business proposition, who the fuck would lend money to Motherwell given the losses we've made over the last 3 years while succeeding on the park? Do we know how much the current Board of Directors have invested in the club? Hopefully the media take a wee bit of interest today, particularly when there is the St Johnstone press conference anyway. We certainty deserve some clarity as the prospect of sitting in the Championship with a bunch of kids and a significant points deduction, is not a million miles away under the current regime.
  6. Hopefully in the coming days we'll have scope to determine whether or not the tone of desperation partly stems from self interest. I'd certainly like to see what a proposed buyer has to offer. The current regime has ran us into the ground and it would appear Boyle is now calling in his debts.
  7. 'There was a real danger of ownership of the club being lost to the local community for the first time'. So who's in charge of surrendering ownership of the club? Surely if the potential takeover doesn't match due diligence, the offer would be rejected by Board/Boyle?
  8. Would Boyle sell to someone that wasn't in the best interests of Motherwell? Have details of the potential buyer been revealed to the Well Society? For months there's been a growing consensus that something is going in ebbing the sense as so it appears. While not an excuse, is the extent of our troubles putting a strain on the management and players? Probably so...
  9. Thanks for share Andy. It would appear we are officially fucked. Rather than pursuing the Well Society in the manner we have, raising significant investment (not loans) from wealthy fans and local businessmen and forming a consortium should have been the focus from the outset.
  10. Does this mean the previously discussed soft loans for the Well Society have fallen through then, or are we seeking an additional £1mil? I'd be interested to hear what a potential buyer has to say.
  11. Bit late for a push to the tune of £1million surely.
  12. If this is the case, administration can't be far away from being inevitable. Either way, it's time to take the hit and live within our means.
  13. Steven McLean actually said at HT that while their organised, the way to beat them is through pace and crosses. Hopefully McCall was watching.
  14. Tonight was another example of how bad the game is just now. St Johnstone were organised as usual but couldn't create much for Graham, who will no doubt score against us. Will be interesting to see how fitness levels compare on Friday.
  15. Erwin, McHugh and the returning Moore all drafted into the under 20s tonight so just maybe, Sutton will get dropped on Friday. Leitch and Carswell also getting a chance to impress although sounds like the former has just picked up an injury.
  16. I'd definitely opt for this shape but go with Reid at right back with Ramsden possibly in the middle. Given that McCall has alluded to Kerr and O'Brien not being good with the ball at their feet, I doubt he would pair them. 4231 is surely the way to go though with a midfield duo primarily duty bound to screen the defence and get possession. That would leave plenty of scope for Vigurs to make the most of a mobile front 3.
  17. We don't have a particularly small squad. We have 8 defenders, 5 central midfielders, a winger, 5 forwards and Josh Law. Looking at the team from Friday, Cadden and Thomas couldn't get on the bench despite the Ross County pair missing. Quality is the issue.
  18. On the face of it, I viewed Clarkson as a decent squad option until Moore returned from injury, with a view to McHugh going out on loan to facilitate the wage. As it turns out, he looks far sharper than I imagined but that will be partly down to Hartley's methods. Good luck to him. I wouldn't be surprised though if the Clarkson situation, on top of Faddy's release, annoyed a few of our senior players. McManus, the first to resign before Faddy left, was relatively vocal in the summer about needing a couple of quality additions.

I think that's a big part of the problem. There were a number of occasions last night where players opted not to pass to him despite being in space.
  20. Meanwhile, Accies knock back an offer from a consortium and a couple of their highly rated kids, including Ali Crawford, sign contracts to 2018.
  21. We did get a wee bit of time on Sportsound during this week so you never know, particularly with 3 televised games in a row. The concern for me MJC is that if the club is as rudderless as it looks from the outside, candidates may not want the job. Appreciate a lot is hopefully going on in the background at the moment but any decent candidate needs to have confidence in where we are heading. There appears to be a distinct lack of leadership in the absence of Dempster.

This is the first time I've voted Josh. Amidst talk of increasing ticket prices to maintain the budget, the pish has been ripped out the fans by giving this boy a professional contract.
  23. Will be interesting to see how much attention the media give us. Worst start to a season in over 2 decades, in the worst premier league we've seen during that time. Change required although as I've said repeatedly, the issues run much deeper than McCall. Time to bring forward this announcement regarding failure of Well Society and future investment model.
  24. I hate Halloween and love Faddy so might pop up to this. Given that they are at Ibrox on Tuesday, you would fancy a motivated and competent Motherwell team to win this.
  25. Under the current regime, we possibly/probably wouldn't survive bottom 6 without a cup run.
