  1. No for me. Would cost a fair whack and it would take him a while to get his fitness, if ever. Now that we have missed out on the window, attention has to turn to nailing 1 or 2 quality pre-contract deals.
  2. With the exception of Casagolda, I felt for the players and McCall last night. Solid performances all round, 100% commitment, desire to win and some pretty decent football. Inevitably, the lack of striking options is going to be an issue. Hopefully we can really start banging in the goals from set pieces. Hammell's delivery has been top notch and Saunders & Hutchison offer a refreshing threat. Other than that, I wonder if McCall may be tempted to play 451 on a more regular basis. Given the amount of balls falling at the edge of the box, we really need a midfielder to support the front (John Sutton preferably) and hit a few shots from 20 yards. Does Ross Forbes still have his shooting boots? Really pleased with how Jennings and Lasley are playing just now. Back to the form they showed when Brown first arrived.
  3. Aye Jennings by a mile. Can't see him staying up here sadly.
  4. The trust was a step in the right direction, this is two steps back. Photo on the website sums it up.
  5. Clarkson was never coming back to Motherwell.
  6. Agree with that generally speaking but on this occasion we have been left with a squad that is not well equipped to achieve top 6 status. Failure to nail top 6 will put any long term plans in severe jeopardy; particularly when you consider the prospect of 3 teams being relegated next season.
  7. That is more to do with the club not selling itself well.
  8. Bang on the money. Any 'kid' that is close to being ready for first team football will undoubtedly get their chance in the SPL. What we needed was a wee bit of experience and depth to help guide the young ones that are settling into the team just now.
  9. Deal to Hearts far from done http://www.sportinglife.com/football/scott...hip&BID=425
  10. Top 6 is going to be a helluva challenge now. Should we beat Stranraer on Saturday, we could do with drawing a diddy team in the quarters. A semi-final payday will just about balance the books should we finish in the bottom 6.
  11. Balls. Reynolds and Gow wages are available.
  12. He's 29. If we have any money to shell out on players it would surely be invested in an up and coming prospect.
  13. I was by no means suggesting that he should be questioning McCall, he's got off to a solid enough start and strikes me as having a Terry Butcher type impact. However, he is a mile out from the aforementioned criteria and I fail to believe Weir's claim that he was top of the list.
  14. So our primary criteria for a new manager revolved around Gannonesque contacts down south. Stuart McCall was 1st choice for the job. Penny for the thoughts of Derek Weir tonight.
  15. Is Eremenko no back? Not much scope for change but I imagine McCall may be forced into a couple of changes as there will be a few heavy legs after Sunday. Hope we stick with the 3 man midfield but a vast improvement is required from Humphrey and Murphy in terms of supporting Sutton.
  16. I'm no a big fan of loan deals but we need a solid squad capable of getting a top 6 finish. Failure to do that would further fuck up our budget next season. A season in which 3 teams may well be relegated.
  17. Get big Iwelumo in on loan. Meanwhile, Bristol City looking to bring in a striker, probably Andy Keogh. Clarky still warming the bench down there?
  18. If that is the case we need two strikers in.
  19. As has been said before, Brown well and truly had the wool pulled over his eyes.
  20. Because nobody will take him.

    Tactics

Hammell was the best left back on the park yesterday. I'm not entirely convinced with McCall but he had us set up very well yesterday. If we had quality in a couple of key positions we would have done Rangers. Much better Motherwell squads have been hammered by Rangers on a regular basis.
  22. So much for his agent willing to pay off his contract eh?
  23. If Murphy is on his way out then he didn't cover himself in glory today. I like him a lot but he would be daft to leave just now, still got a lot of learning to do. If McCall can bring in a decent striker then we have a chance of getting back to Hampden this year. A right back with decent distribution would be handy too...

    Rangers

Good performance from Hammell while Jennings and Lasley carried us with little help from Humphrey and Murphy. Jennings just shades Lasley for me, he has the ability to dictate a game.
