  1. Wouldn't mind playing the likes of Raith or QoS away from home, albeit a tricky tie. When is the next round scheduled for?
  2. Penalty for me as well. Not a red card though given the close proximity of Reynolds. Regardless, it was schoolboy stuff to let Maloney through on goal from so far up the park.
  3. In relation to the talk about how poor the midfield is, what has happened to Tom Hateley? Under Gannon last season he was picking up the ball from the defence and spreading the play. Whether it was a 5 yard pass sideways or a ball pinged out to the wing, his distribution was immaculate. Indeed, for much of the season he looked one of the most technically gifted players at the club. He obviously struggled towards the end of last season and like many I put that down to fatigue and doubts over his future. Given that he signed a 3 year contract in the summer, I expected much more from him at the beginning of this season. Not sure if he is hampered by an injury, poor fitness or our style of play, but he looks a mile off the pace this season. Anyway, I really hope we can get a midfielder in by Tuesday evening, whether it's a creative force in the middle of the park or someone who can offer us a bit of balance on the left, it would add a much needed new dimension to the team. If we do manage to get the midfield sorted out then I'm confident we will start to see the best from Sutton & Murphy.
  4. The abundance of players getting sent out on loan highlights a big flaw in the Scottish game for me. Young has done a great job with the recent Under 19s team with an impressive number getting signed up on long term contracts. Due to the absence of a Reserve/Under 21 league though we need to send them out on loan. While I appreciate they need to get farmed out for 1st team football now, surely it would be of greater benefit to the players and the clubs if these players continued to play with each other week in week out for another year before really being able to make a push for the 1st team. No disrespect to the likes of Albion Rovers but the amount you are going to learn from these clubs is limited.
  5. Today was dire. While the hangover from Thursday may be a fator, it shouldn't paint over the cracks. We offer very little composure on the ball and have no craft or guile in order to unlock defences. As much as I like Craig Brown, the long ball tactics won't do us any favours this season.
  6. Desperate for a bit of composure and creativity in the midfield. And if we are going to persist with the long ball pish, at least put 2 strikers through the middle from the start. Murphy is wasted wide left.

Another impressive showing from Randolph but Lasley fucking strolls it today. He has his weaknesses but he runs his balls off. Great performance from him today on the back of an energy sapping one on Thursday.
  8. Same age as you mate and I've been there a few times. Not this time though and that's probably purely down to Brown & Knox. Regardless of the quality in the current squad, I know the players will give it their all every week. A wee cup run might arise out of nowhere, we may unearth a gem of a player, you just never know. In the meantime, you can look forward to International week.
  9. As long as we can overcome the prospect of mental and physical fatigue on the back of Thursday, I fully expect us to make a game of it on Sunday. There has been abundance of great Motherwell Celtic games over the years, this could be another. Both defences are gash and despite our failings last night, both teams offer a decent threat going forward. Mind when Strachan's team came to FP after being molested in Bratislava. They didn't exactly bounce back that day did they.
  10. This game canny come quick enough for me. Action packed 4-4 draw. Murphy and Saunders doubles.
  11. Craig Brown and Archie Knox are the best thing that could have ever happened to Motherwell.
  12. The main stand is a depressing place to sit. Fuck all suppot stems from there.
  13. Should have been off the park with 25/30 minutes to go.
  14. We've invested in heavily in dross like Bob Malcom in recent years. A decent player on £2k a week would have made all the difference.
  15. Celtic have a fucking clown of a manager. I'm not asking for fortunes to be spent. But if we still had players that matched the calibre of Coke and O'Brien, we would have done it tonight.
  16. Murphy by a long way. Shame he was played out of position.
  17. It's not going to happen. Every time we have the opportunity to make an impression on the floating fan we make a c**t of it. Less than half the fans that turned up tonight will be at FP on Sunday.
  18. I'm disappointed at not feeling any sort of emotion tonight. We never really looked like doing the business against a very average team. Lacked any craft or bottle. Paid the price for not investing in any quality during the summer, bar Randolph. We will never ever have a better chance of making history and sealing some lucrative dough.
  19. Boyle and Dempster, thanks for fuck all. Had we shown a wee bit of faith im the management team and invested in 1 or 2 replacemnts for the quality we lost in the summer we would have fucking cruised it tonight.
  20. Without doubt the most nervous I've been since Scotland Italy. Nae more glorious failures, nae more anti climaxes, nae more feeling cheated. Let this be one of they rare occassions that we will cherish forever.
  21. Think us and Rangers got a few pennies thrown our way due to his age when he signed for Cardiff. All the best to him at Leeds. Should be a decent move for him. Would like to see him recapture the form he showed in his debut season at Cardiff.
  22. Aye, you'll be fine. Would be pleasantly surprised if they need to open the top tier of the South Stand.
  23. Pa Broon doesn't half get about. Back from Denmark in the early hours of Friday morning I imagine, 2 SPL games on Saturday, the small matter of our trip to Killie on the Sunday and then Sportscene on a Monday night. And McGhee was down at FP for lunch on Monday. Wonder who he was trying to tap up?
  24. Paton is a no bad player from the snippets I have seen in recent years. Look at how well Dave MacKay has done at St Johnstone, I think we could do a lot worse.
  25. They certainly weren't closed off at the Nancy game as I had front row seats down the very end. Heading down for my tickets tomorrow, hope I can get seats in the South that aren't too close to the front.
