Scottish Premiership Celtic V Motherwell Sat 18 Feb 15:00

Putting the Aberdeen performance to one side, the prospect of Tierney and Sinclair running at young McMillan is a daunting one. We are unlikely to fare much better on the left either, with an inform Forrest or Roberts going at a half fit Hammell (and/or Jules/Chalmers). Think we'd all be content with a relatively spirited performance here and hopefully we can come away with a respectable result against a very good Celtic team. -
McGhee not attending the press conference tomorrow. Wise decision.
-
I think the questioning of commitment may refer to the hours he puts in, the return trips to Brighton and/or Scotland role.
-
Something that hasn't been mentioned is Faddy. I get the impression that Robinson was a significant support to McGhee in delivering training and refining tactics. Has McGhee possibly paid the price for going with an inexperienced assistant?
-
Just now is not a good time to change manager. There are no obvious candidates and we aren't sitting comfortably enough to alllow a new man a settling in period. If the Board are confident hr hasn't lost the dressing room, we are probably best to allow McGhee to limp on until the end of the season. Meanwhile, the Board should be working away in the background to find a suitable replacement in the summer that possesses greater ambition that reaching 1000 games. Under no circumstances would I support a new contract for McGhee. Credit to him, he came in and provided the safe pair of hands we needed post Baraclough. He's also developed a few assets. However, this season has been a case of going through the motions. Watching a team with 3 of the best attacking talents in the league should be much more enjoyable than it has been. The negative tactics, the inferiority complex against the big teams and the failure to establish a settled formation by February has taken its toll on our dwindling support and the players. At present, he is the laughing stock of Scottish football, which is quite an achievement in the current climate.

Just watched the highlights, Hammell and Lasley at the 3rd goal, we can't have conceded many worse goals than that. Samson flapped at a few but that's par for the course. Fair play to Christie for the 4th, sublime finish. -

Could be Faddy's one game in charge. Might pop along. -

His Celtic comments the day he was unveiled as Aberdeen manager got him off to a bad start. IIRC, that was closely followed by an embarrassment in Europe and the sacking of a genuine club legend in Jim Leighton. -

Unhinged. Even by McGhee standards, he's been more unbalanced than usual with the over the top post-match reaction at Ibrox, complaining about red cards weeks after the event, repeatedly claiming we have been playing well and 'having a laugh' at 4-0 down. Sad state of affairs that he has anything to do with the national team. -
No hint of resignation chat in the post match interview. Seemingly sent to the stand for 'having a laugh'. Fuck off!

Looking forward to the usual suspects telling us how we can't be expected to compete with a team the size of Aberdeen. One silver lining, tonight underlines how fucking shite Rangers are. -
Reckon it will take 8.
-
Wonder how many goals it will take in order for Les to get on the phone tonight. He's survived 6 and 7 so far. You have to wonder how effective McGhee and McFadden have been on the training ground this season. We've rarely looked well drilled and judging by the radio commentary tonight, the players have chucked it.

10 days to prepare for this and it sounds like we are an absolute shambles. Doesn't reflect well on our training methods. -

Make that 3. Aberdeen support will be hoping they go all out for 9. -

Sounds like we have conceded 2 very soft goals, all too familiar story. -
Cheers. IIRC, Annan are in need of a rb and their manager asked Craigan if we could try out Fry there in the Killie game.

That would be my team, with Frear, Pearson and Cadden taking it in turns to get close to Moult. -
Here's hoping Campbell can get some 1st team exposure in the coming weeks. How is the right back experiment with Tom Fry looking?

Interested to see how we line up tomorrow, variety of formations possible from 352 to 433. Will we flood the midfield or will we put someone alongside Moult to get the best out of him. Judging by the Celtic u20 highlights, Frear looks good to go. With McHugh and McDonald missing, Tait and Hammell possibly not fully fit, the odds are stacked against us. I think Aberdeen are comfortably the 2nd best team in Scotland but I have a wee hunch we might pick up a result tomorrow. Hopefully the speculation around McInnes provides a distraction. -
Very enjoyable listen.
-
Blyth playing for u20s tonight, along with Chalmers and Frear. No sign of Bowman. As pointed out previously by capt_oats, Bowman is rarely involved in these games which I find a tad strange. Does he choose not to put himself forward?

£500k is ambitious but it's a marker for the direction we need to head in. Been a while since I've looked at figures but I think subscriptions were generating £10-12k per month. This initiative should be drive us on to double that at least.
