  1. I only remember Bobby Donnelly for that Rangers game, which I had to watch through my fingers.
  2. That reflects my recollection. He definitely made his debut at left mid and we played him left back against Raith Rovers. Gannon played him in a few position mind you including holding midfielder. I always thought he had the attributes to end up a left back but it never materialised.
  3. Wouldn't be surprised to see Reynolds back but as capt_oats says, he's back in favour with McInnes for now. As an aside, Cardiff seem keen on Hayes. That's the type of team I'd expect to look at Moult.
  4. Humphrey put in the type of performance you expect from him. Will be a very decent signing for Hibs. Fine day for Derek Adams at Anfield.
  5. Hanley was a very good servant for Blackburn. Club captain, 180+ games and 20+ Scotland caps. Seems a reasonable price to me when you think Christian Dailly moved for the same money in 1998. Having said that, hope he gets out of Newcastle soon and returns to regular football.
  6. I see the Skippy to Australia rumours have surfaced again. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/football/a-league/former-socceroos-star-scott-mcdonald-set-for-aleague-homecoming/news-story/2fdad72ddd5a39c245ec99ad1b99a21e I fully expect him to be away by the summer and would rather he was back in Australia than playing against us. Hopefully, he is content enough to see out his contract.
  7. Are Talksport a reliable source for the Moult rumour? They suggest we paid £125k for him which is nonsense. As much as I adore Moult, I think he'd be doing well to get a move to a mid-table Championship team at present. And if there is interest, his form probably hasn't been consistent enough this season to merit a transfer offer that would match our value. If Moult and/or the club are keen on cashing in, the double header with Rangers provides the perfect shop window...
  8. Hope you are right about full house. I think they had 30k for their QF with Dundee last season and was expecting similar. Looking forward to it, although not sure if I'll settle for the telly. The return of McHugh makes me think we can at least compete. ldeally we'll bring in a left sided player as Tavernier has been ripped to shreds the last few times I've seen Rangers.
  9. Erwin has plenty of ability and has the physical attributes to play at a decent level. The issue was always going to be keeping his head out the clouds when he got his move to Leeds. Bring him back for the Rangers double header.
  10. Sorry got you, I misinterpreted that you were referring to a Humphrey team rather than Ainsworth. In entire agreement that the summer of 2013/14 (e.g. Lawson signed while McCall talking to Sheffield Utd) set us back some way despite somehow finishing 2nd.
  11. 2012/13 with Law, Higdon and Ojamaa? That was one of our best ever teams.
  12. Fancy QotS to turn it around under Naysmith. If East Fife's performance against us was anything to go by Thomas will be his type of player.
  13. Dom out on loan to QoTS. Here's hoping he can get a run of games and remind us of his potential.
  14. Pleased to hear Campbell made a positive impression, particularly if he played slightly out of position.
  15. Last minute own goal from Josh Law leaves Robinson/Baraclough bottom of League 1.
  16. Didn't get the chance to follow the game but 4 points out of 6 is a decent return. Good to see Moult back amongst the goals.
  17. Delighted to see Campbell get a start but 4 central midfielders?
  18. Humphrey signing for Hibs by the looks of it.
  19. Yeah very positive. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with more than 2 signings, particularly if Pearson returns. I imagine the positions we'll be looking at are central midfield, left back, left midfield and goalkeeper albeit we'll probably stick with Samson until the summer. I mentioned Luke Leahy as a possible replacement for Hammell last season. His form has seemingly dipped this season and Falkirk have some 17 year old hotshot at left back now. Wouldn't mind us having a look at Leahy given that he's out of contract in the summer.
  20. At the Hamilton press conference, McGhee confirms there is scope to bring 1 or 2 in without any outgoings. Likely to speak to Pearson in the next week or so.
  21. Cheers for that. Just in time to catch Skippy's goal. Much needed 3 points, brilliant for those that travelled. Interested to hear how McHugh played. 2 league games, 2 wins.
  22. Any idea if it's a fresh knock or the injury he's been playing through?
  23. Fingers crossed all goes well for McHugh tonight and he can bolster our midfield. Would like to think Campbell might get an opportunity off the bench. Shame the midfield continues to lack balance in the absence of Ross MacLean.
  24. A number of fair points. First and foremost, credit to McGhee for providing a platform that has accelerated the development of a number of youngsters, primarily Cadden and Hall. I'm sure you have the stats to back up the fact that we're the 12th biggest supported club in Scotland but I'm not sure how relevant it is. As much as I hate the phrase, we have contionusly punched above our weight for the 26 years I've followed Motherwell and I see no reason why that should suddenly change. Furthermore. there are currently a number of clubs in our league that have a smaller support and budget than us. I'm not a strong supporter of fan ownership but I dont believe the shift of ownership showed realign our expectations, particularly when the chairman said he wouldn't sign up to fan ownership if it didn't offer a sustainable future. If anything, we should be in a strong position at the moment given the seemingly favourable terms of the debt. Having said that, recruitment is key to the future of the club and I fear this is where McGhee (and/or scouting system) is letting us down. IMO our success rate in the transfer market is not reflective of a club that is running a streamlined business. There was absolutely no need to sign both Blyth and Bowman as backup strikers when we have a gaping hole in midfield. A hole that should have been immediately addressed when Pearson was sold. Generally, on the point of expectations, McGhee was brought in as an experienced manager with a safe pair of hands. Last season he successfully met expectations. This season we are in danger of falling behind less experienced managers like McIntryre, Wright and Foran that are in charge of similar budgets. Most alarmingly, we have played 23 competitive games this season but nobody knows what our strongest lineup, IMO this is a result of poor recruitment in the summer.
  25. Agree, anything less than 2 points and we have a dismal position to stew on throughout the winter break before returning to games against Rangers (x2), Ross County away, Hearts and away trips to Aberdeen and Celtic.
