  1. Really enjoyed that tonight. Right good battle and we managed to play some good football at times while keeping our bottle throughout. Credit to Skippy, Cadden and Thomas for their contributions when Lasley when off. Moult ran himself into the ground as usual while Marvin's quality made the difference. Big 3 points but it could obviously be costly. McDonald is like to get a ban but hopefully Pearson and Lasley are ok. That was a helluva hit Lasley took, his attempt to get up epitomises the sheet steel of the man.
  2. Hopefully Fletcher gets a chance to prove himself in the coming weeks. Moult is on a different level in terms of potential but I reckon Fletcher would score a good few if he could get a run of games.
  3. There's no doubt McManus will be offered a new deal. Our last 3 managers have spoke very highly of him. As has been discussed there are few defenders in the league significantly better than him. I think we all just expected more of a leader given his Celtic and Scotland record and as a result he takes more than his fair share of criticism.
  4. Shame for Lain after an impressive return to the team. Wonder if we'll go with Law or Kennedy.
  5. I think we were talking about Allan Campbell who has been playing the holding role in midfield this season. From what I've seen he seems to be a natural at reading the game. Yet to see Turnbull.
  6. Yeah I agree. Sense that Craigan/Lasley are really keen on him.
  7. I considered this too but without wanting to overplay the occasion, this is a significant opportunity on a number of fronts. A win would boost the morale throughout the club, aid the confidence of our top prospects and possible raise the club's profile in terms of youth player recruitment. Under Johansson we had some good players playing nice football with a defined shape about us. Since the arrival of Craigan, the good football has been underpinned by a desire to build a winning mentality. For that reason alone, I think the club will rightly want to select the strongest team eligible and utilise the players that have been key to the squads progression in the last 2 years. Personally, the prospect of Cadden and Thomas lining up on either wing at Hampden is one to look forward too with some excitement.
  8. Really pleased for Craigan, Lasley and the boys. Just from watching highlights and the odd visit to Airdrie, I've been really impressed this season. Wee trip to Hampden will round off the season nicely. Hopefully it falls on a date that allows Cadden and Hall to feature.
  9. We don't often beat United at Fir Park and this will be a tough encounter. Outwith the defeat to us they have been in fairly good form of late and will come with a spring in their step after Anier inspired them to a fine cup win. They still look pretty poor at the back though so hopefully our front three will have too much for them. Enjoy a rare Friday night game, looking forward to it. A wee win here puts us in good shape.
  10. Don't think anyone stood out in particular. Marvin was in and out the game but carried a threat. McDonald and Moult worked tirelessly as usual with a fair amount of quality. Thought Pearson had a quietly effective game and was pivotal to us seeing the game out. He gets my vote.
  11. Excellent win today. After starting fairly well, we rode our luck a little with a few defensive lapses before Laing scored. I thought we were then relatively comfortable throughout the 2nd half with the players running themselves into the ground. Enjoying Marvin's role in the front three. Not everything comes off for him but with the freedom to move along the pitch, defenders are on edge throughout. His pass for the pen was lovely. Shame Moult couldn't put the icing on the cake but it was hardly surprising he missed given the delay. Win next week against a relatively in-form United and we are just about safe.
  12. May was a goal scoring left sided midfield before he came to us. He did to a job upfront in the Ian Ross game mind you.
  13. Presume Gomis is fit for this? I hope we go with the same team as last week but suppose Gomis would potentially help keeping Crawford quiet. I don't have any dislike towards Hamilton, Infact I've admired the calubre of player they've produced in the last 7/8 years. However their current group is very ordinary with the exception of Crawford and I hope we can win convincingly tomorrow.
  14. Dunfermline always reminds me of listening to a late comeback at EEP on the radio. 1 down to Jimmy Calderwood's team with maybe 5 mins to go and Townsley equalises. Brannan then scores the winner in the last minute.
  15. Ian Ross, John Philliben and Pat Nevin for me. Lower profile but Kevin McBride at Livi kicked off a decent Hogmanay.
  16. When was the last time we scored there? The day Forbes missed a pen when Gannon was in charge? Hopefully McGhee can inspire us to a Cillian Sheridan style win.
  17. Indeed, that was a wee boost before kickoff. Shame we won't be able to wear the white shorts at NDP.
  18. McDonald and Cadden were done yesterday but their attributes and continued work ethic was irreplaceable. I loved seeing a knackered Skippy pulling the ball out the air with his chest and then buying us time. For whatever reason he isn't everyone's cup of tea but in my opinion his quality as a centre forward is the best we've had since Tommy Coyne.
  19. For the umpteenth time his season, Scott McDonald. Class above anyone else on the park and continuously runs himself into the ground.
  20. Well that was much more like it today. It's took a while to get to the 433 that we naturally associate with McGhee. I thought Skippy, Moult and Johnson showed that there is significant potential in them playing as a fluid front three. Their movement and work ethic was excellent. The Ripley error was the only significant blot on a very comfortable win. After failing to build on an impressive win at Tannadice hopefully we can get some momentum going at Hamilton next week.
  21. Maybe so but there can't be many Motherwell minded people left with the suitable experience to drive through the fan ownership plan.
  22. It was truly wonderful listening the other night. Fergie back on Off the Ball today for anyone that needs a top-up.
  23. A key point, particularly when 2 leading figures involved in the confidential negotiations to 'save the club' have seemingly resigned...
  24. 'Us' was poor grammar on my part. However I think the majority would agree that our financial planning (top 6 + cup run + player sale) did not fit well with a provincial club that had to live within its means and put Motherwell in unnecessary danger. The left-field appointment of the inexperienced Baraclough was an absolute mile out given our precarious league position when McCall left, no need for hindsight there. I have no doubt that Weir is a good guy that has done his all for Motherwell. However some very poor decisions have been made during his time at the club.
