  1. It's nothing to do with sensitivity. Good managers rarely criticise their own players in public unless it's to produce a reaction. Criticising the likes of Laing and Ainsworth, two of our better players, and then freezing them out is of no benefit to Motherwell.
  2. Its not took McGhee long to lose the plot this time around. How many of our players has he now criticised publicly? Kennedy, Laing, Ainsworth and Moult? As for the Higdon chat then if we have pondered this for more than 2 seconds, then it is sheer incompetence on behalf of the club. More worryingly, McGhee seems to want a big striker to suit his long ball tactics.
  3. I might be in the minority here but the 1st leg at Ibrox for me was the highlight. When Ainsworths 3rd hit the net, oof. Folk just hugging each other and laughing at half time in the toilets
  4. I'm assuming no recall option would have been allowed on the Gomis loan? Hearts seem to have a bit of an injury/suspension crisis.
  5. Been fairly pissed off with Motherwell the last few days but this fair cheers me up. They're all still hurting.
  6. There is no question we are a better team than the Baraclough days but the Tynecastle result and performance appears to have spooked McGhee and possibly the players. At the time I thought we would respond to the 6-0 result quite strongly but instead our confidence has been thread-bare. We've went from a team that went toe to toe at Pittodrie and Parkhead to a team that tries to almost contain/nullify mediocre opposition. Indeed at one point last year McGhee said he spent little time on the training ground coaching defending because he wants to play attacking football and make the most of his squad. So it is time for him to return to his original ethos because with Pearson, Skippy, Johnson, Ainsworth and Moult at our disposal in addition to young Cadden breaking through, we should be blowing teams away in this league. To be fair to McGhee, he could argue that this isn't his team and he possibly didn't get the backing he was promised in January. However, for us to persevere with a man of his ego in the long run, I think we need a positive run that sees us well clear of relegation bother by the time we hit the split.
  7. Watched the first half at Ibrox today and thought Kilmarnock were half decent. With a new manager likely to have arrived, who knows what that will add to their game. With Pearson being suspended for the trip to Tannadice it's vital we win here. I'm sure we will though given our extended preparations.
  8. There would be a lot more folk 'in the know' aware of the situation if Administration was a distinct and imminent possibility. However, should Admin ever comes to pass under the current regime then a few die-hard 'well fans should be ran out of town.
  9. Post match is on YouTube. Seemingly we aren't good enough to go with two strikers against Inverness. Killie game was always the priority.
  10. Poisonous is admittedly the wrong word but there is a sense of something untoward in recent years. Reckless spending, numerous off-field appointments that have failed, poor preparation of squad for Starjnan season, the questionable transfer of ownership, the farce that is the Well Society and failure of the team to turn up for cup games time after time after time.
  11. Should never in a million years been considered for a return to Fir Park. From the outside the club appears to be poisoned, sadly it pre-dates the arrival of McGhee.
  12. As I've said I had to resort to the radio today and I was slightly taken aback by the noises coming from the ground. However I suspect that his approach to the game compounded the bitter taste stemming from the treatment of Lionel on Tuesday. Out of interest, where does your belief in McGhee come from? Barring an exceptional 6 months at Motherwell where he had exceptional players at his disposal, he has been an absolute failure for over a decade. There is no doubt he is a talented coach but time after time his arrogance and stubbornness undermine his ability. A very poor mans Gordon Strachan in my opinion. When he returned he said our position last season was 'embarrassing'. That may well come back to haunt him.
  13. Listening to the radio, it sounded like the crowd were turning on McGhee today. the decision to bring him back to the club continues to baffle me as his entrenched flaws get highlighted week after week. The fans will probably get blamed post-match for wanting Moult on. Good luck to Inverness in the next round.
  14. Exactly the two I was thinking of. Maybe not the worst thing that I'm missing this today. On the plus side we have a strong bench to turn the game.
  15. McGhee trying to outsmart Yogi, we'll see how it pans out. Not the 1st time McGhee has thrown a curve ball in a cup game.
  16. I thought he was suggesting that if both available, they'd play together. Id be amazed if they don't both play today.
  17. Would it really? We've been through this process so many times now I don't think it would make a difference.
  18. McGhee didn't name him on BBC radio but it was clear who he was talking about for anyone that was watching the game. He then went on to name Lionel on MFCTV, the channel sponsored by Chris Caddens' brother. As for Lionel coming out to the press, who know whose decision that was but he was flung under a bus and the press lapped it up with the grief-stricken patter.
  19. References to Ainsworth having a poor season, he hasn't really been given much of a chance since McGhee has arrived has he? Meanwhile Marvin gets 90 minutes every week despite having similar flaws in his game to Ainsworth. It's worth bearing in mind we wouldn't have got the memorable win at Parkhead without him, not to mention he's proven to contribute 20 goals a season if he gets ample opportunity. Hope he gets the chance to get it right up McGhee on Saturday.
  20. Id be tempted to go with 2 wingers and a striker here. Having Johnson as the sole creative force is too easy for teams to come to terms with. Tad harsh on Moult but a front three of Johnson, Skippy and Ainsworth would pose Inverness with problems they wouldn't be prepared for.
  21. Ah but what if he loses his man for a goal? Would McGhee be willing to publicly criticise Faddy like he did with Ainsworth? As for the game, we better be right up for this, no excuses. Defend well, create chances and score. Play to our potential and we'll win. The whole Tansey affair adds an interesting dimension to the game from an Inverness perspective.
  22. Nah never. Apart from the Accies game, where he conveniently decided to own up to his mistake with the substitution, after the Hearts hammering...
  23. McGhee post match focusing on the man who lost Lawless and cost us a deserved point. Who was the guilty party?
  24. 2 points out of last 15. Tad worrying. Think out over reliance on Johnson to create isn't helping us at present, hence why we could have done with a playmaker.
