  1. Welcome news for continuity alone. Another good Baraclough appointment.
  2. If McGhee thinks he is good enough, then I'd be pleased to see Moore get another year. Back in the U20s, I used to think he had a better chance than Erwin, primarily due to having a good head on his shoulders to accompany his talent. The injury came at a horrible time and the snippets of his return last season suggested that he had bulked up but was badly in need of a run of games to get up to speed. Would be interesting to see how sharp he'd look after a successful season with Ayr and a preseason under McGhee. As an aside, if we've offered him a deal and he opts to move on I guess we'd be entitled to compensation.
  3. Yeah Humphrey is out for the season with a shin injury. By no means expecting Hutchy back at Motherwell but would expect the aforementioned Rangers, Hearts and Aberdeen to be making enquiries.
  4. Talking of former players, anyone been monitoring Hutchinson at Fulham? That'll be his contract up this summer...
  5. Chasing money? More like keeping our head above water in order to give boys a chance in the future.
  6. Great listen. I'm maybe easily pleased but I love that Moult and Lesley are willing to give up so much time for the fans. Loved the Equis line.
  7. Two grumbles from a selfish perspective. Disappointed to be away to County midweek. Had visions of going there to clinch 4th place. Secondly, going to Parkhead on the day they lift the title isn't ideal but it's the only away game that will be feasible for me. From a club perspective though, no complaints.
  8. Think next season will be too early for Campbell and from what I've seen, admittedly pre-Christmas, Mackin is some way away. I liked MacLean pre-season but injuries have got in the way this season. We'll see what McGhee pulls out the hat. Not many would have expected Hall to get a sniff this year.
  9. Best part of a million was distributed down the league iirc.
  10. In my opinion, the young ones that are ready have been blooded during the cut and thrust of the season. I'd like to see more of Watt and Thomas but not to the cost of £200k. McGhee will use them when he knows they are ready. Big pre-season ahead for the pair of them.
  11. Top 6 resembles a decent season, boosted by the development of young players. Given how precarious our finances are however, it'll be a missed opportunity if we don't beat a poor St Johnstone and inconsistent Ross County to 4th place and an extra £200k minimum.
  12. This afternoon seemingly. Our fixtures should be set in stone with St Johnstone and Hearts at home, just a matter of order.
  13. Missed the unfolding of events yesterday but delighted we made top 6 with relative ease in the end. Well done to the manager and players turning around a season that looked destined for a bottom 4 scrap. As other have said, we can now hopefully plan ahead for next season and step up negotiations with identified targets. On the park, hopefully we keep our foot on the gas and finish 4th. I wonder how much the potential extra prize money would influence the current ownership negotiations.
  14. Nobody on that list I'd bite your hand off for. Always liked Bannigan but he'll have bigger offers lined up. Expect our activity to be focused on the lower leagues in England and Scotland.
  15. Good questions Jay with regards communication, engagement, missed targets and sustainability. Dickie seems a good sort but some of the answers were unconvincing, an all too familiar theme. Well done too in finding a Celtic fan worth listening to.
  16. Think I'll have the coupon on to cover us. Fancy Ross County to do us a favour if required though.
  17. Unless McGhee stays longer than anticipated I expect Lasley or Craigan to be our next manager. This should provide the necessary continuity in an environment that reportedly has an embedded structure that supports player recruitment, player development and sport science.
  18. I always seem to miss recent Celtic games at Fir Park. Hoping they'll have it on the telly at Aintree. A point would be half decent but hopefully we can carve out a significant 3 points to keep our push for Europe on track.

Talk of Nancy reminds you how far Scottish football has fallen. Back then, 3rd place got you into the equivilant of the playoff round, playing in mid-Sept. Now 3rd place gets you into the 1st qualifying round in June.
  20. Wee bit of propaganda maybe, talking up the value of our players. It would arguably go against the business model to have both Johnson and Moult at the club by the end of August.
  21. Ainsworth has played a big part in our last two victories. Good to have him back in amongst it.

This rhetoric took the joy out of recent European 'campaigns'. Obscure trips to Russia aside, there is income to be made from gate receipts and prize money. That diddy mob from Iceland went on to play Lech Poznan and Inter Milan. That would have been 2 full houses at Fir Park with low travel costs. Add in possible TV income and that would have set us up well for the future. The downside is that our first game would be 30th June.

Get a result against Celtic and you'd start to fancy our chances. Reckon it will take 10 points to clinch 4th.
  24. Quite like the look of home/away kit 2 although I imagine it would be difficult to incorporate a solid band/hoop.
  25. Didn't have a chance to follow the game but what a terrific result, with an injury time winner making it all the sweeter. Full credit to the players for grinding out a result. I was worried the absence of McGhee and Robinson during the Internatonal break would result in us not turning up today. Gutted I'm going to miss the visit of Celtic next week.
