I think the concerns at the start of the season were probably justified. For me it was more the length of contract given rather than whether he would be any good or not. 2 years seemed like a bit of a risk on someone who hadnt really shown anything at this level.

Could you imagine what the forum would be like now if we'd signed him on a one year deal ? 😁

The usual suspects would be giving it large about kettlewell, The interim CEO and the groundman being out of their depth, clueless and being unable to spot potential in players 😄

But you do seem to get off lauding them at any opportunity. (You also know their victory song) ;)

Loves Hearts, wants Rangers to win the league, talks down Motherwell at every opportunity. Burn the witch !!

Just for a bit of fun. If we took 9 points from the next 4 games , beating Dundee and Hibs in those 4 games we'd be on 41 points

    13/3

Dundee V Aberdeen.  Aberdeen win .. Dundee on 33 points

Excellent piece of work other than this bit 😁

Aberdeen still waiting for the 'new manager bounce'

So one of the guest speakers is Pat Nevin and I'm thinking of going. Not because I'm interested in his book as it's not the sort of thing that I normally read but just to listen to him talk about his life.

Thinking of the opportunity to ask questions at the end, what would any of you like to ask him if you could?

Other than being pals with a multi-millionaire, what qualifications do you think you had to be Chief Executive of a football club ?

I was in the SK should go camp and am happy to admit I was wrong. We did go on a horrendous winless run, which would have seen many a manager go but the Directors stuck with him. To be fair, he never lost the dressing room.  He's now turned things around and converted draws into wins in our last 2 games. Yesterday was the icing on the cake.

It now looks as though we'll be safe this year, although I've learnt never to take these things for granted until the final whistle. The summer will be a double edged sword for him. A lot of hard work and planning will need to go into rebuilding the squad for next season. The posiitve side is that he'll be able to pretty much build his own team due to the number of likely departures.

I was firmly in the 'keep him' camp, partly because of the way he got us playing last season, which looked like carrying on after the back to back wins against Hearts and Hibs. The St Mirren Cup game we were awful. Losing to Rangers and Celtic were both sore ones because we played really well and the league loss to St Mirren after playing them off the park and the loss to Livi when Miller got sent off just seemed to flatten the teams confidence. The bad run then just went on and on, but I think it was obvious that the players were still trying and working hard and there was absolutely zero sign of people 'downing tools' and all these draws (i understand a lot of them were games we'd think we should be winning) are ultimately what kept us out of the proper shit. These periods we were picking up 4 points and the likes of county were picking up 1. I'm delighted for Ketts and the players that we seem to be coming out the other side of it all now.

I'm old and have seen many many bad runs with Motherwell teams over the decades. This one just seemed different, basically because we didn't have players walking about heads down and shrugging shoulders and clearly not caring. Onwards and upwards......

  6. Well, thats us played the top three in the last fortnight (plus Livi) and come out of it with 6 points. I reckon even the most optomistic amoung us would realistically have been looking for 4 out of that run (beat livi, draw with Hearts).

I'd honsetly back us to get some kind of result (win/draw) against anyone else in the league either home or away.

Hopefully, yesterday injects a bit of confidence into the team, because recently, in places we've looked really good. The football going forward has at times been excellent. We haven't relied on hoofs and free kicks for goals, we've cut teams open with good passing and movement for periods of most games.  Hopefully a good end to the season coming !

  7. Just in from a gig tonight in a local boozer and watching the highlights. Every bit as good watching it again.

Only one tune you can play to kick off a pub gig tonight. Twist and Shout ! Some punters didn't like it. I was delighted 😄

Would be a much more competitive league with out those two, maybe more would turn up to games with a potential chance of winning something

If you take the teams finishing 3rd in the last 10/15 years we would have league titles along with Aberdeen , Hearts , Killie

Remember Hibs got relegated with McLeish and the next season the crowds went up

Exactly the arguement I've used before for getting shot of them. Pretty much every team in the league could start the season thinking they had a realistic shout of winning something. I'm sure there would be a reduction in TV money without them, but so what. Let the league find its own level on the world stage and give the fans something competitive to watch. The current set up is shite.  Could yo imagine what the crowds would be like if we were playing say Hibs at Fir Park in a top of the table 6 pointer in March ?

Rangers have lost 4 this season and Celtic two. Not many teams have managed to pick up a result against them. Similar stats last season. If Motherwell don't have bottle by definition that's a label you could place on a good few other spl teams.

Correct, and were two of Rangers defeats not to Celtic ? (might be wrong but that's what I've got in my heed).

I first started watching 'well in 72 ish and got my first ST in the 75/76 season (I think). First three games against the old firm were a 1-1 draw and 3-2 win against Celtic and a 3-1 win against Rangers. Would absolutely love to see these days come back but the way the game is geared now, i don't think we ever will. Every change tht's been made in my lifetime to make Scottish football more competitive has given bigger and bigger advantages to the Glasgow Uglies. I'd rather see them f*** off out of our leage and leave the rest of us to get on with a competitive league regardless of whatever level the world views us at.

I hope Clement and Rangers win the title this season, because that will mean that Celtic and that creepy, condescending prick of a manager of theirs won’t win it.  I make no apology for that.

I hope we beat them on Saturday mind you, as unlikely as that is.

Choice between a creepy, condescending prick of a manager and a 'team' that by rights, shouldn't even exist. It's a tough one right enough.

Yup, I would rather keep Bevis than sign Obileye.  We all know what Bevis can do....and definitely can't do but is Obileye an upgrade?....no in my opinion

Would be hard not to agree with that. Don't think there's anyone there that would be an upgrade.

Yes. It's not beyond the realms of possibility, as Kettlewell isn't some sort of unique budget team manager messiah.

Hibs, Aberdeen, St Johnstone and Ross County all thought the same. (Two of them have a massively bigger budget than us). Why are they not all miles ahead of us in the league ?

We could also have someone other than those you mentioned, and already be in the top six. Both alternative scenarios are equally valid, but we chose to stick with a manager whose win percentage is currently 21%. If you like that, so be it.

And who would this mythical manager be then ? I know you always dismiss this with 'it's not my job to find the next manager but we shoulddn't be accepting this blah blah blah.....' but why not try facing facts for a change. Four teams in the bottom six have changed managers this season. Two of these teams (at least) have budgets that dwarf ours. How much better off than us are they right now ? Do you need me to tell you or can you work it out for yourself ?

That's four teams that have scoured the country and probably beyond to find a better manager and not one of them has actually made any difference. Are you going to tell us next that our interim CEO should have a magic manager finding lamp, and if he doesn't then he's just an amateur thats out of his depth.

    You really are fucking tedious.
