This could finish 6-5 to Aberdeen and the trumpets in our support who still to this day look back with fondness at our last 5-6 loss to them in 1999 would be chuffed to bits.

    HT 2-3

Seriously ? You know people who look at that with fondness ? Really ?

You don't fancy devine, based on??

Fair enough, he wasn't on for long but he looked a bit lost to me, but obviously others saw different. I'd have been less inclined to give him a debut in a game where we're liable to face a bit of pressure in a vital game against our closest competitor.

if the boy has a decent game (I do expect him to be bolder than SOD going forward) i'll be first to come on here and admit that I talk pish 🙂 Hopefully it won't be Cryin' Time (Right, thats the last Sydney Devine reference of the night).

Good to see him going 2 up top.  Devine looked good on Friday so let's see what he brings.   Surprised Butcher starts, he was brutal on Friday and I fear him up against Miovski

I've seen a few people say they thought Devine was good on Friday but I certainly didn't see it. Might be willing to go forward faster than SOD but don't fancy him defensively. We'll see. Be more than happy if I'm wrong 🙂

Maybe Devine will be the 'answer to everything'. (There's a wee gag for those of a certain age 🙂 )

If you look at the run of games ahead of us and the results of most of those behind us, I don't see how we finish 8th. I think we'll be lucky to scrape 10th. Imagine we finished 11th and got Morton in the play-offs.

Miller is the only positive thing this season; it's just a shame he got his injury when he did.

Are all the other teams around us who can hardly buy a point, like Ross Co and St J getting special permission to play teams from a different league in the run up to the split or are they playing the same teams as us ? Are St J and Ross Co more likely to take points off Hearts, Rangers and Celtic (or even Aberdeen and Hibs) than we are ?

Think we should have taken a gamble on getting van veen to get us through cup and another pay day. He's already got 1 assist as a sub. Starts today

    From the BBC commentary......

    Van Veen barely seen

    Kilmarnock 1-0 Cove Rangers

We haven't seen too much of Kilmarnock's big January signing on his first start for the club.

Maybe he's still hiding behind the post.

    He's been subbed off.

The KVV that left us for Groningen is not the same KVV that signed for Killie. If we'd signed this overweight, unfit, anonymous KVV, you'd have been shouting that the board and the manager are incompetent for wasting money on a guy who won't be fit for half the remaining campaign.

    They are  3.3/3.4

Maybe you round up 0.4 but the rest of the world doesn't.

In any case the point is you don't need an elite level striker to have that sort of conversion rate.

And the deeper point is that players need to be judged on longer spells of form rather than 5 or 6 match purple patches.

Mandron has 5 in 22, Watkins 5 in 23. If that's not worse than 1 in 4, i'm not sure what is.

Depends how you look at it. Personally I think the bigger picture is that we've won two league games in twenty and have now been knocked out of the Cup by a lower league side. I don't care about any other side or their managers, our form is dreadful.

Maybe you should look up how these 'leagues' work then. Put simply, you all play games against one another and a system of points is used to determine where you sit in the pecking order. If the performance of 'other sides' in this syetem is something you don't care about, I think you're missing the point. We're not Celtic or Rangers so the best you can ever hope for is to be better than some of these other teams that you don't care about. Some years you'll be better than most of them, some seasons you wont. We're currently sitting above four of them and a point behind another two. Thats the only statisitics that count in league football.

They went after lower league cup defeats came at the end of horrific runs of form for both of them. And Tuesday night apart our form under Kettlewell has been dismal.

Our form over the last nine games in the league is better than 7 or 8 of the 12 teams in the league. Are you suggesting all their managers are clueless and need sacked too ?

Mikael Mandron and Marley Watkins have 1 in 3 records this season, to name but two.  Biereth was better than 1 in 3.

Actually so does Theo Bair over the season but I'd still urge caution on Bair after a 5 or 6 match spell and the fact that he missed so many chances midweek says to me he's still got a lot to learn  in the art of the striker.

Bair has made progress but let's not get ahead of ourself.

mandron is less than 1 in 4, so is watkins
