Quite a few candidates for a change, MacDonald made a huge difference up front, Pearson's presence in the middle of the park allowed Lasley to play like we know Lasley can play, Erwin ran himself into the ground and Law looks much better at right back than in midfield. I voted for Long however, when Law's header was short it looked like one mistake would cost us and that save was a momentum changer, if we had gone 1-0 down the second half could, and probably would, have been very different, it might even be the point where our season turns on, not just that one game.

Agreed, he was also very visible in front of the dugout after he was subbed, encouraging the team and generally looking right up for the fight. Overall a very different feeling this week from last, we actually looked like a football team this week.

I could make a case for most of the team, then could counter my argument with a poor mistake from most of them, in the end I went for Ramsden, he was generally in the right place at the right time (and somehow didn't get booked for a belter of a foul with about 10 minutes left)

It should also be pointed out the Ropy lives in Bannockburn and therefore has a 40 minute start on the rest.

What's your point caller?????????????

I always tell my wife that the cup final is fourth behind our wedding and the birth of our two children...................I suspect she knows that I'm lying

Four goals, hit the woodwork four times ( five if McManus's goal that never was hit the bar twice), two one on one chances where first Ainswort then Moore shot when a simple squarepass along the 6 yard box would have produced simple tap ins, we could have doubled our score today and it wouldn't have flattered us.

Absolutely no failures today, you could make a case for just about any of the starting 11. I'm going for Vigurs, narrowly ahead of Ainsworth, when he plays with his head up like he did today you can see why McCall was so keen to sign him, plus, you could see what the goal meant to both him and his team mates.

Agreed, except I plumped for Lasley. Tough choice as I didn't think anybody was outstanding. Always good to beat Hearts though, no matter what the performance was like.
-
I don't see us winning by the nine goals that are required for that, we can dream though
-
I see what you did there

I would, like a shot.

Shocked and saddened by this news, like a few of the other oldies on here he was an early hero who never shirked a tackle or a fight. R.I.P Peter

That 4th goal showed why Bobby Graham was my favourite 'Well player of that era, sublime touch and vision

My understanding is that Lawless was going to get his chance when the window shut In January after Murphy signed for Blackpool, when that deal fell through it was too late for Lawless to go out on loan and he ended up kicking his heels for 6 months. When McCall realised that the whole SPL summer shambles meant that there was no guarantee he would be a regular this season, he allowed Lawless to leave to give him a chance to get first team football. A chance he has so far grasped with both hands. Whether he goes on toa great career then who knows, but good luck to the lad.

I thought that was the best part about European games As to the game, on the balance of play St. Mirren probably deserved something from the game, but until the Ref lost the plot in the last 10 minutes I was pretty confident of holding on. The whole Hutch - Thompson - drop ball carry on was a display of such incompetence that I thought Ian Brines was in charge

P GD Pts Hibernian 5 2 10 Ross County 5 2 9 Kilmarnock 5 3 8 Celtic 3 3 7 Dundee Utd 4 2 6 Hearts 3 2 5 Motherwell 3 1 5 St Mirren 3 1 4 Aberdeen 3 0 4 Inverness CT 4 -2 3 St Johnstone 5 -7 1 Dundee 5 -7 1 I'll take it Hibs,Ross County and Kilmarnock played their jokers today and doubled up to 6 points for a win! Made an arse of copying and pasting that then

Actually, I don't watch very much football outside of 'Well games. English and European games are packed full of overpaid twats cheating each other and the paying public with their OTT antics,it leaves me totally bored. Give me a good honest full bloodied scrap on a muddy Fir Park pitch any day. I have no idea how good or bad Levante, whether we have a good chance to progress or none at all. I just know I'll be at FP for the home game. (And that, after going to Athens , I have no chance of talking the wife into another away trip.)

Aye, my brother in law, I was too busy jumping about like a maddie. Best goal celebration since Fitzpatrick at Easter Road.
-
Jennings, been very impressive since he started playing regularly. Protects the defence and links with the forwards, a complete midfield performance today.
-
I think that the Sainsbury car park will be restricted on Match days, the Morrison's one certainly is. There is a big car park between the law courts and the ground, it is on the left as you approach Sainsbury's from Cadzow Street.

I have been trying to forget about both of them for years, you realise I won't sleep for weeks now. Thanks very much. Edit: I've just read the whole thread, thousands of pounds and years in therapy wasted, wiped out in the time taken to read three pages.

Any last minute winner, e.g. Fitzy at Easter Road is a great time to be a 'Well fan. The best feeling though, although not a goal, was the full time whistle in 1991, the realisation that after 28 years as a 'Well fan, that we had actually won something, and that no matter what happened in the future, that I had witnessed a Motherwell captain lift a trophy above his head, will live with me forever. What about a least celebrated goal thread? Me and my brother went to Smackhead for the first time (about 1978 ish) and ended up in the wrong end, Jim O'Rourke scored the only goal and we had to stand with our jacket sleeves stuffed into our mouths for 60 minutes while the best fans in the world (ha, ha, ha) got extremely pissed off at their incompetent strikers (ring any bells?) and then had to negotiate our way back to the train station with our scarves well and truly hidden from the smelly hoardes.
