  1. Anyone else think that theres a fair few old farts in the SFA struggling to justify their existence? "Haw, Macdougal, Ah've heard them young yins ootside takin' aboot 'slimmin doon' the numbers oan the board" "Aw, f**k Gregory, we'll huv tae make up some new pishtake job for us dae so we keep oor HUGE wages for another few year. Ah, ken, we'll huv a go at them Motherwell wans again, they tak hunners o' oor pish, they're used tae it by noo. Thur pitch, thats always a good wan fur us tae moan aboot for a while". "Aye, thats a grand idea, mone we'll go drink hunners o' expensive whisky oan the SFA's budget tae celebrate. Beltin."
  2. Couldn't make this away game due to a wedding, but the comments and reports in the moron's papers seem to say that we dominated the game and St J were terrible. Kind of contradicts what Broonie said on radio Scotland and what some on here who were at the game have reported. TBH though, I shouldn't be surprised at this, sometimes I think the journos aren't even listening to the game on a radio never mind being anywhere near to watchingn it
  3. I discussed something along these lines with the idiotic panel that make up the Clyde-H*n Phone In. Something along the lines of Old Firm buy in foreign rejects/duds and relegate home grown players to the bench, yet these players, now used in bit-part roles, still get picked for Scotland before 'better suited' players from the smaller teams. They're response was of the typically non-sensical nature you'd expect from ex-OF players and journos who would be out of a job if it wasn't for the OF. I disagree re Hammell in the sense that I don't think he's good enough to play for Scotland (he has the complete inability to play a simple pass with his right foot when required and stops forward movements as a result; and he isn't really all that as a defender in the tackling sense). BUT he is a FAR better player overall than Broadfoot, so if that nugget can get in the squad it begs lots of questions. Reynolds should be in the squad at least, if not the starting line-up. He's been solid and has gradually improved in ability and experience/decision making over the years. If he moved to Wigan or Swansea etc, he would be in the squad in an instant. Lasley... meh.... I like him TBH, but his terrier like enthusiasm wouldn't cut it at the higher levels demanded of an international. I could run about and chop away as much as him but it wouldn't get me a place in the team. All IMO of course
  4. Not sure if this has been mooted yet but... Someone mentioned the JAXX deal was £200k over 2 years, and that in the current financial hole the world's in we would expect maybe half of that now. There were around 12000 Well fans at the Fir Park Nancy game, and around 20000 went to Hampden last time around, so even if we only take a small number of those fans, say, half the season ticket buyers and some more diehards and ask them to stump up a score each we could easily get £50k per year. Et voila...... www.steelmenonline.com .....new sponsors?
  5. I phoned the other week asking if they thought the SFA and SPL could follow EPL's lead and implement a "homegrown players" rule to stop the influx of shite foreigners in Scotland and encourage SPL clubs to nurture Scottish youths. I used Celtic's all non-Scottish Jan transfer window sigings as an example, but DJ just said " Mowbrays got a job to do and if there aren't any Scottish players he likes then he's GOT to bring in foreginers, and who cares about Scotland, its the SPL title that matters". Typical Old Firm lover's answer, they only care about themselves (and England and Ireland), couldn't give a shit about Scotland. Reckon Jim's on to promote a new song?!!!
  6. I tend to read the ref columns in the two scummy scottish tabloids just to see how their idiotic little minds can turn round almost anything and blame someone else. If an SPL ref was caught red-handed outside a primary school selling crack to the kids while he had other kids taped up naked in the back of a van, Dougal would be saying "its the fan's/managers/players fault for not stopping the influx of crack into Scotland, they should only have themselves to blame". The man shouldn't be allowed to communicate in any way shape or form in the media, he has no intention of ever being honest or truthfull. The rat-chomping mongo.
  7. Quote: "In June 2009 Gammon was announced as the manger for SPL side Motherwell the 40-year-old signed a contract with the Fir Park outfit". A piece n Gammon? A Gammon roll? How about a Gammon joint, like what you get fae Chapman's? Or Smoked Gammon flavour marks n sparks crisps? They all taste right good, but tbh they'd make shite managers. Think this is bolly hoax.
  8. Fook me, that was tense watching the live text on bbc sport! I've nae finger nails left!!! Without seeing the game, Esson must've been on fire, looks like we pummelled them in second half of extra time.
  9. I understand people will reward loyalty with loyalty, but does this extend to the point where even if there are better players available (to sign, not already at the club) we keep the old guy who is loyal to the club and does an ok job most times and a terrible or brilliant job at others? Or do we get some new blood in who may not be at the club for years but will do a better job for us week in week out for a while? No OG in the world is ever deliberate, its just that if you make too many mistakes its going to get picked up on, and if you only compensate for those mistakes every so often then the cons start to outwiegh the pros. Pace, timing, skill at passing and clearing are all part of a defender's game and for the past few years it looks to me like Craggs' has dwindled gradually in most areas. Well fans in general seem to love cult heroes and despise players who leave for bigger clubs or more money (I, for one, hate Scott Mcdickhead and don't think much of Buzz, Hughes et al leaving for more money at smaller teams down south) but the heroe's have all got to come to end sometime. I mean, if I was playing for Well every week I'd be more loyal than anyone on the team, and throw myself into every challenge with aplomb, but that doesn't make me the best man for the job. This isn't a slight on Craigan, or a personal dig, just a little realisation and my point of view on the matter. I wait with no baited breath for the arrows to fly in my direction now.......
  10. Sun this morning reckons JOB at Right back, Reynolds at Left back with Saunders and Hammell dropped and Hutchison starting at centre half alongside Craggs. Jennings and Humphry to start also, alledgedly, with Slane, Forbes, Jamie and Big J. Bit different by Gannon, hope it works!
  11. I thought they were one and the same. Sorry for any offense caused to the SS
  12. There sem to be a few in the well crowd every week who think its ok to shout sectarian abuse, sometimes even directed towards our own players. And I know of people who don't support Motherwell but can't afford to go to Ibrox or Parkhead, so bring their idiocy to Fir Park instead. And the SS? Never do World War II at school?
  13. Lets be honest with ourselves here, the guy might not be good enough to start regularly for the tic, but we're a small squad with few resources to buy in class players, so in my eyes three decent strikers and a "might be good" are better than three decents strikers and no-c**t else. As a replacement for Porter I think he'll be ok. I mean if a Derby fan asked me what I thought of Ports I would've said "he looks shit, can't run, can't jump and has no control or decent first touch, but he still bangs the goals in for us and thats all that counts". So what, according to some nugget Jungle Jims he might look pants, but if he does a turn for us who gives a shit what they think?! I hope he silences the handfull of dickhead biggots that go to Fir Park 'cause their giro can't get them into Ibrox. And anyone else think the Kraut boys gonny think "WHAT THE F..." when the wellboys start chanting "SS Hooligans!"?
  14. Don't know if its on here elsewhere, but read in the Sun today that Glen Roeder's told Simon Lappin he has no future at Norwich and won't make the 1st team, but also praises his profesionalism as a player regarding attitude and training. We couldn't offer him great money (maybe if we offloaded BFB) but we could offer him 1st team every week if thats what he wants. And IIRC Lappin did say he liked his time at 'Well.
  15. Anyone think that the efforts of the club to get more fans in will ever actually work? The 'kids go for free' sometimes or the 'bring a friend thing' seem to get the gate up for one game but how do they expect or plan to keep them coming back? I mean we're losing loyal fans at the games just now, probably 'cause its cold, expensive, and we've been playing pish tbh . But North Lanarkshire's got a population of circa 350,000 and even if you take into account the old firm and Airdie, Albion and Clyde, I think getting 3-4000 a game is laughable. Some English teams from much smaller towns get better crowds than us and they're in the shitey leagues. We need money for players and we need fans to generate the money but will our situation ever change in terms of gate numbers/crowds? What about having Polish pies or Congolese bovril to entice in half the population of Muirhoose?
  16. Thats the thing though, its just what you beleive is the situation. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that no one really seems to know 100% what goes on with the wages or transfer fees except the clubs, players and agents, or what the situation is with the money that MM does or doesn't have to spend as a result of any ivolvement by Boyle. I'd like to think that if Boyle would be willing to spend a few grand a week on players wages then, considering he's worth over £120m, he wouldn't mind spending a bit extra on getting decent players.
  17. How much truth is there in the rumour(s) about Boyle funding players directly? Does anyone have any hard evidence of this as I've heard lots of various "apparently" and "a mate said" about Porter, Hughes, Malcolm etc being purchased and paid weekly straight from Boyle's own pocket? "Apparently Well's wage cap is £2000p/w and anything over that Boyle sees to directly, up to and over £6000p/w for certain players" was the best one! If anyone currently at well is getting £6000 a week then I'm trading in my ST for a half-eaten wham bar. I would have thought if there is a 'signing-on-fee' cap or wage cap then its there for business/monetary reasons and would be adhered to.
  18. ---------------Reina------------------ Zambrotta Bosingwa Vidic Evra Ronaldo Kaka Gerrard Sneijder ------------Janko-----Henry--------- That should fix it..... To be serious though, we definately need to be making some decent loan deals next month. I say loan deals 'cause its not looking likely that we'll be spunking millions on two-year contracts Theres plenty of young tallented players out there at bigger clubs who need experience and likewise well-known experienced players who might not be getting their game at big clubs who might be looking to drop down a league to secure first-team football.
