  1. How many clubs had laid a completely new pitch the prior summer?
  2. I think if we get a result at Ibrox on Sunday the club should throw both the Hibs & Rangers game on a DVD and punt it. I'd certainly buy it. They could even throw in some special after-match interviews, behind the scenes footage of the players getting back to Fir Park etc.
  3. You think so? If I had £100 spare, and was doing absolutely fuck all on Sunday I still wouldn't grace that stadium with my presence. They'll get sod all from me. Ever. If we get the result needed i'll be the first one round Fir Park to congratulate the boys when they get home though.
  4. I pretty much guarantee that i'll spend at least £40 on a shirt or t-shirt to wear at some point this year, so throwing down £40 on a new Motherwell shirt isn't that big a deal.
  5. You think so? I'd actually see Hibs having a better chance if United didn't ring the changes, as their players would be looking to stay fit ahead of a final. The guys they bring in to play this game will have nothing to lose, but everything to gain by making a name for themselves and possibly throwing themselves into the mix for next season as far as the first-team squad goes. It's all ifs & buts though really, isn't it?
  6. I'm not an expert on the subject, but surely the fact we had the worst winter since time began may have affected a relatively new pitch? The freeze left a lot of pavements cracked and crumbling in some areas, didn't it? If it can do that to concrete, freshly-laid grass doesn't have a chance. As long as we don't get hit by that again this coming winter, we should be okay.
  7. I can see us getting a draw, which is what we'll need as Hibs either lose or get a point in their game.
  8. Oi! What team do you support mate?! This is a Motherwell forum, we'll have none of that positive thinking here!
  9. Exactly. What's the problem? There isn't much the club can do, is there? Look at it from a positive point, at least PUMA are regarded as pretty steady suppliers, so we shouldn't have the same problem creeping up any time soon.
  10. A PUMA kit, eh? Good stuff. I'm happy enough with that. Can't wait to see it

    All You Fannies

Because such a gentleman will find he has stayed to the bitter end through some right shite matches, only to head home early during the greatest comeback in football history. That's as good a reason as any

I can't speak for everyone one, but when I "bleat on" about cutting prices, I always make the point that cutting prices for one game (and not even advertising it much!) will never work in the long term. It's pretty fucking simple.
  13. Those things are all well & good, but the savings compared to buying a book compared to POTG isn't good enough to be honest.

    Nice one mate, cheers
  15. I didn't see that there, so apologies. I think if the club doesn't gamble, we'll slowly see the crowd shrink over the coming years anyway. I don't think much should be placed on bringing down POTG prices, and more on giving some real value for money on the season book. There really isn't much benefit to having a book at the moment, which is criminal to be honest.
  16. I can't agree. How can a game on a Wednesday night that is being shown on Sky be used as evidence that low prices don't guarantee decent attendances? Such a policy would have to be implemented over the long term to have any effect. A short-term hit has to be taken in order to gain long-term in my opinion. Slashing prices every now & then, not doing anything to really advertise it then claiming the idea doesn't work when no one shows up isn't the answer.

    Is anyone having problems with the official site at the moment? When I click onto certain pages, they seem to be all mixed up. Here is the result of trying to check the Premier league table;

    Rhys Weston

Like most 'Well fans, i've not heard much about Weston. If Brown likes the look of him though, that's good enough for me.
  19. I think you're bang on the money there. There is no real incentive for anyone to buy a season ticket, and Boyle using the old "it's more than buying a ticket, it's a commitment to the club" line won't wash with as many people this summer as he thinks. It's time that people who are willing to put their money down in advance are given some real incentives to do so.
  20. The real problem is that no one except hardcore fans even know about the price-cut deals! No one i've spoken to has heard anything about the prices for the Hibs game. Where are the club advertising this? As for these deals themselves, it's all well & good doing the odd game here and there, but what we really need to do is take the prices down for an extended period of time. It's no good doing it for the odd game, as that won't make any difference, and will only upset the loyal season book holders. What we need is a decent reward for those who put their money into the club by way of season tickets and merchandise purchases, and some incentives to draw people into doing just that. This would involve having to operate in the real world though, so i'm not holding my breath.
  21. Maybe it's about time that the club made a commitment to the fans, and showed something of real substance when it comes to working in the current economic climate? It's all well & good making statements asking for fans to show commitment to the club, but we need to see some commitment from the club as well. The deal allowing under 16's to claim a free book is certainly a move in the right direction, and will go some way to filling up some of the empty seats we have, but we need to see more.
  22. What kind of numbers would we deem acceptable when it comes to a season ticket in the current economical climate?
  23. How much are mid-table clubs in leagues similar to ours charging for season books? Norway? Sweden? Denmark?
  24. Does anyone know the script regarding this game being on the telly? It's marked as being a BT Vision game. Will any pubs around Motherwell be showing it?
