I reckon Burrows may have to get on to one of those debt collection agencies and have them start sending letters and making phone calls to Ibrox demanding that they set up a repayment scheme at a tenner a month.

Why is available on some shit stream, yet MFCTV can't offer it to their paying customers?

Well, he's not played a lot of football recently, so it's to be expected I guess. After all, there was a time not that long ago where we were all over the moon at him signing, with his little piano video and all that shite, remember? He was made captain as well. So, as I said, if he's suddenly that pish that he doesn't even warrant a look-in and we're chasing a Celtic player on loan for that position then we should let him leave before the English lower league window closes.
-
He may very well be, it's still early doors I guess. I don't see that as a reason for Hartley not to be given a chance. If he's completely out of the running (which I think is a bit off as we're hardly brimming with talent in that position) we'd be better off letting him head down south for games elsewhere. I'm not sure that supposedly trying to bring in a defender on loan from Celtic suggests we're in a position to dump Pete though.

I haven't really noticed that myself, which maybe says something. The thing for me, and this goes for Carson as well, is if the team isn't doing that great and we're at a stage where we've conceded seven goals in our last two games, and there's been a few notable errors at the back, surely the players who've been on the bench waiting on their chance are due a shot, no? We hear the manager (and all managers really) talk about those who aren't involved having to "wait for their chance" to stake a claim fora starting spot. When does that become the case? How many errors does a goalkeeper need to make before our equally talented other goalkeeper gets a shot? Or how many goals must our defence concede before our supposed club captain gets another shot at making a starting slot his? Or is it only injury that provides that chance? I also have this feeling of dread that we're going to persevere with the likes of Seedorf until we're behind the curve, then it's going to be panic stations and everyone losing their shit around Christmas. We just have to hope that Turnbull can come back and hit the ground running, or that we've got another Jake Hastie somewhere that can come in and turn things around.
-
The thing is, he got dropped at a time when the entire team was pretty shit if I recall correctly, and he's never really been given an opportunity to come back in. He can't really be expected to regain any form if he's sitting on the bench the majority of the time. In all honesty, I'd have him back in the starting eleven this weekend. I think we're missing a natural leader at the back.

It's a weird one for sure. I know he had a foot injury that kept him out for a bit in early 2018 and pretty much meant he was out for the remainder of the 2017/18 season I think, but then at the start of the 2018/19 season he was announced as captain. He featured pretty regularly until the 2-1 away win at Accies in the New Year game last last year, which was his last league game if I recall correctly? He featured in the cup against Ross County in January but after that he disappeared. Did he get injured again? Aside from a few early Betfred cup appearances against Dumbarton and Annan he seems to be out the picture again.

Ticket prices for Motherwell fans at Hamilton Accies
David replied to Toxteth O'Grady's topic in Club Chat
Like any other industry, they'll all charge whatever they can get away with. If they see less fans coming through the gate, and less money being registered in the accounts they'll quickly change their approach. It's up to the fans to help them make that decision. -
It's worth remembering that the Wolves Seedorf signed for isn't the Wolves we know today. Paul Lambert was the manager, and he was the 4th manager they'd had in the dugout that season in one capacity or another. They were six points above the relegation zone in the Championship when Seedorf signed, and they eventually finished 15th. He never kicked a ball for Wolves at senior level, and managed 10 games for Bradford in League One down south, before nine games for Jumilla in the Spanish 3rd tier. Again I ask, what has he done over that period of time, in the two and a half years since he signed for Wolves, that would make our management team think "Yup, he's the guy for us down the left." Ariyibi had played almost 140 games at League One level when he arrived at Fir Park, and by the time he'd just turned 22 and signed for Forest he had played 98 or so League One games. Seedorf signed for us at 21 and had seemingly played less than 20 games in his entire career at senior level. There's a huge difference, and I don't think you get to 140 odd League One games if you're a winger who can't pass, shoot, cross or hit a dead ball. No, I agree that we sign players looking to make them better. But there surely has to be something there to begin with? Something to improve upon to make them better? I see none of that with Seedorf in particular. He's done absolutely nothing in his career to suggest he's a footballer. I'm baffled as to how he even found his way onto our radar to be honest.

Didn't he do very well for Dundee? I recall him being touted as a quality player in the making. Maybe the move to Celtic was just too much for him?

While I agree with you, there are some instances where there are both tell-tale signs that a player is out of his depth and a history of him not cutting the mustard at similar levels in the past. I personally know a Bradford season ticket holder who told me the day after we signed Seedorf that he was a terrible footballer. I think he played something like 10 games for them, and my friend said he was "incredibly quick over distance, can get off the mark like a bullet, but isn't a footballer." His opinion is that Seedorf is more of a runner than a footballer, saying that "his control is terrible, his crossing is shambolic, and he isn't made for the physical aspect of the British game." Those quotes come from a text that I was sent the day after he signed. He also said he wasn't all that impressed by Devante Cole at Bradford either, claiming that he's "rubbish." Now, I know we can't really look solely at what a player has done in the past to make up an opinion on them, but I have to ask, what exactly is Robinson and his management team basing their assessments on before they sign these guys? Do they have them watched by our scouts? Cole played something like 16 games for Burton Albion last season, while Seedorf played nine games in the Spanish 3rd tier. At least Hylton and Sloth have been playing games regularly, so theoretically our management team could have actually seen them. But the other two? Especially Seedorf? I don't know where the information could come from to sign them.

So, Accies up next as we come into the game with two losses in our last two games, conceding seven goals. With Hibs at home after this game, and Hearts away following that, I think we really need to get something here as it could be the case that we get fuck all from the next two games, which would turn what looked like a positive start to the season with our League Cup games into a bit of a nightmare. Anyone think we should make some changes? I've been back and forth over the idea of bringing Carson back in, and even Hartley to try and add some "oomph" to the defence. Not sure Robbo will make those kinds of changes though.

It doesn't happen often, but this is one of those occasions where I have to go with a null vote.

Was he not away on compassionate leave as well?
-
Is Carroll still unavailable tonight? Or is it league games he's suspended for?
-
I'm not sure a loan move would make much sense for us, as he's out of contract at the end of the season. I'll be surprised if he's not moved on in January for a small fee. Unless, of course, Gillespie attracts attention and he moves on. In that case Carson may even sign a new deal.

I think a little bit of perspective is needed here. It's worth remembering that there is less of a resource gulf between Celtic and Paris Saint-Germain than there is between Celtic and us. Let that sink in for a second. When Celtic are being absolutely handled to the tune of a 5-0 loss at home, and a 7-1 loss away to PSG our media (quite rightly) highlight the huge financial gulf between Celtic and clubs like PSG. Well, the gulf between Celtic and us is even greater. Fans asking why our players didn't measure up against their lot? The answer is right in front of you. There's levels to this game, and we're operating a shitload of levels below what Celtic are, it's as simple as that. Our season isn't defined by these games. If we're losing handily to the sides around us in the table, and our midfield look gash against them, then fair enough, there's room for discussion. It's early doors so far, the team is still bedding in. Our next five games see us play Hearts twice, Accies, Hibs and Ross County. After those games we'll have more to judge our new players on. Yesterday was a free hit, nothing more. Sad as that may sound, it's the truth. Sometimes we nick something from those games, which is amazing considering everything I've mentioned above. But the normal outcome will be a bit of a hammering. Same as it is for Celtic when they face a PSG or a Barcelona.

I suspect if he's willing to venture back over the wall to Scotland that there'll be a number of clubs interested who may catch his eye more than a return here.
-
I wasn't meaning you in particular, I was just speaking generally. It's a fan forum, there's going to be speculation, especially in the summer when there's nowt else happening.
-
It's easy to jump in a month after the discussion and claim the high ground, but back then we were all speculating as to who was coming in, who was a trialist, and who the trialists were. It's a discussion forum. Speculation is the very foundation upon which sites like this are built.

This is probably not the game I wanted as our home opener, especially after seeing how they dismantled St Johnstone at the weekend. I know it's seen as defeatist, but I honestly view games like these as bonus points to an extent. Anything we can take from Celtic will be welcomed, but I wouldn't be surprised if we're on the receiving end of a thumping on Saturday. I'd rather we went for it rather than trying to contain them, as that tactic rarely works.

Nice. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I'll end up sitting through the entire 90 minutes just to see how we got on

Has the Livi game been uploaded in its entirety on the paid service? Or is it just the highlights?

Anyone know what Tommy Coyne is up to these days? He undoubtedly has some knowledge to pass on.

I've seen a few people say they've had to go a size up.
