This is it in a nutshell as far as I'm concerned. We're claiming that we don't have enough fans to make the ownership idea work. What we actually mean is that we don't have enough fans to make the ownership idea work at the level we're currently at maybe? The truth is, we'll need to make the changes required to operate within our budget. If that means dropping down a league then so be it, I'd rather be in that position than have no club at all.

We do have the fanbase, but the club would very likely look a lot different to what we see at the moment. I doubt we'd be an SPFL club for a start.
  3. Aye. The fact remains that Lasley is still one of our better players. Why we'd cut loose one of our better players is beyond me.

Yeah, but what's the chances of both Accies and Killie going on a run like that?
  5. My main point is that if we win tonight our focus should then shift to winning games to catch teams above us, not to get away from teams below us.

A win tonight for us, coupled with a win for Aberdeen over Killie should hopefully mean the end of the relegation worries.
  7. I'm assuming that all of these folk saying that we should be looking at cutting Lasley loose after this season haven't been watching him play or reading the match reports on this forum? He still seems able to get the job done, and whenever I've seen him he's usually among the top performers. How many games has he missed this season through injury? By my reckoning he's on course for another 30 games + season. Couple that with his better than average performances most games I see no reason at all to suggest we should be looking to move him on. If anything we should be trying to get him signed up as quickly as possible.
  8. Not at all, we're currently closer to 4th place than 10th by three points! All this chat about relegation and playoffs really has to be put to bed, and a win tonight will do exactly that. Win tonight and we're well in the mix for a top six finish. In fact, I see no reason why we shouldn't be gunning for 4th.
  9. He looked like a lad completely bereft of confidence throughout the game up until his goal. After that he seemed to perk up a little. Whether that will last is anyone's guess, but hopefully that goal will spur him on a bit.
  10. Keith for me. Constantly on the move, closing down the opposition, and the way he talks young Cadden through games is superb. Moult & McDonald were immense also right enough.
  11. Under Baraclough's time here we signed 11 players to permanent deals & 7 to loan deals.
  12. Dundee United have won three games all season. They'd need to turn it around massively in order to catch us, even if we maintain our current form.
  13. For us to relegated outright Dundee United would need to improve beyond belief, which doesn't look like happening. We're engaged in a battle for that dreaded play-off position, again.
  14. Probably the punters behind the dugout in the Main stand. They were shouting for Moult, and they got him, which undoubtedly resulted in us losing those goals.
  15. A Hearts-supporting mate of mines says the same thing. He claims that Gomis was superb last season, but can't seem to break through into the team this season. Also describes him as hard working and someone who "keeps it simple".
  16. I'll believe it when I see it, but if it were to happen it would be a fantastic piece of business.
  17. Aye, that's true, but we have seen English sides pay over the odds for Scottish-based talent as well. It seems to come down to the negotiating skills involved, which is why it seems to be the same few teams who get decent money for their players. Let's hope that whenever a bigger side comes calling for one of our contracted players, be it Marvin or someone else, that Les lives up to his talk.
  18. £700,000 is a fair bit more than the £400,000 figure that's been mentioned though, isn't it? I understand that many don't think he's worth more than £400,000, but how many of the players those teams down south are signing are actually worth the amounts paid? Very few. It's all subjective, and if he's good enough to draw attention from a club in that position, then he's worth a fair bit more than £400,000.
  19. I'd probably have been more alarmed had we got wiped out whilst at full strength with everyone playing where they usually do. McGhee fucked up a bit by the looks of it, either by choice or by circumstance, but hopefully we'll get back on track moving forward.
  20. I only mentioned Coca Cola because they'd been mentioned already. My point is that whichever company wanted to sponsor us wouldn't have to throw "large sums of cash" at us. The money being paid to us wouldn't necessarily increase just because the sponsor is more high profile.
  21. A large, multi-national company like Coca Cola wouldn't necessarily have to throw "large sums of cash" at us though, would they? They'd just have to offer something in the same ballpark as Cash Converters did, which probably wasn't all that much.
  22. So, what's the chances that this snow ends up causing a cancellation tomorrow?
  23. Any word on tickets sold yet? They've been on sale for a weeks now, aye?
  24. Despite any personal issues I always felt that Craig Reid was a decent enough backup player. Anyone think there's a future at Fir Park for him under McGhee?
