Where did you hear that?

That's three times I've seen people mention sums of money upwards of half a million quid when it comes to Marvin Johnson. Are these sums actually being discussed by clubs looking to buy him, or are we just making them up?

Don't they use them a lot in MLS?

I figured a thread dedicated to our pre-season shenanigans was worth creating, with confirmed games updated in the opening post. Thus far we've got; July 7th - Borussia Monchengladbach under 23's vs Motherwell (7pm local time) - Rheden, Holland July 9th - SC Heerenveen vs Motherwell (7pm local time) - Drachten, Holland July 18th - Livingston vs Motherwell (3pm) - Livingston July 24th - Motherwell vs Preston North End (7pm) - Livingston I'll try and update it as games are announced.

Has Murphy been anywhere near the national side? I've never saw his name mentioned in call up news.

Motherwell V The Rangers Spfl Playoff Final 2Nd Leg 31/05/15
David replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
If the punch up hadn't happened they'd have just moved a bit quicker to their current topic of the day. Which is multi-zillionaire Dave King and how he's going to be ushering in a new era of complete dominance for Rangers. -
For what he left for we should have, but I can't say I'd be entirely surprised if we didn't.
-
Considering how unsettled Ainsworth's career has been thus far I'd be very surprised if he decides to move from a club where's he's actually looking like he's settling in. Unless there are non-footballing reasons for the move, of course.
-
And the truth is, if he had all the raw potential that he currently has with none of the faults, such as the occasional lapse in concentration, there's a good chance we'd get nowhere near him.
-
It means he'll have to up his game if he wants to play. Competition for places is always a good thing.
-
This is probably a major factor, sadly.
-
Aye, you're right enough. Signed up until 2018 I think. List amended.

I'll ask you the same question. Where do we draw the line? If it's considered acceptable for a guy to punch another guy in the face and kick him in the back and only have the football authorities deal with it, then how should a player calling another player a "black c*nt", for example, be dealt with? Is racism not a criminal offence if the racist happens to be wearing a football strip and playing a game at the time? Should that kind of incident be treated by the football authorities only? What if instead of Erwin shoving Mohsni he'd reacted to his non-handshake by telling him to fuck off back to the desert or something similar? You think we wouldn't have seen the police get involved then? The truth is, footballers shouldn't be immune to the law of the land simply because they're playing a game. You're example of a sliding tackle in Argyle street is extremely poor, and not something I'd have expected from you to be honest. There are clearly incidents that happen during a game that can be deemed "handbags", but that carry-on with Mohsni isn't one of them. Cantona was arrested and convicted of assault when he threw a kick at someone in a football stadium. Why should Mohsni be any different?
-
I never said that it should go to court, i'm simply saying that it shouldn't be considered "handbags". For me, "handbags" would have been Mohsni reacting with a shove back at Erwin before people came in and broke them up. Fact is, he threw a punch and a kick at someone. Any time you do that, be it on a football park, in the street or wherever, you're opening yourself up to police action.
-
How many incidents like that happen after a rugby match has finished and the players are leaving the field of play?

With the sheer number of players leaving the 1st team squad this summer I was wondering which (if any) of the current under 20's would be looking at making the move up to the fringes of the 1st team for next season. The squad currently posted on the official club site lists the following players; Goalkeepers Max Currie Brett long Defenders Morgyn Neill David Ferguson Danny McNulty Ben Hall Luke Watt Jack McMillan Midfielders Dominic Thomas Chris Cadden Craig McCall Liam Anderson Robbie Leitch Ross macLean Allan Campbell Forwards Steven Higgins Dylan Mackin Ryan Watters The players who have been told they won't get a new contract next season have been scored through, whilst the guys offered new deals have been highlighted (i'm not sure if any of them have decided to re-sign or leave). Has anyone seen enough of the under 20's this season to maybe guess on who, if anyone, may be looking to make the break through into the top team next season? I know a few of the players listed above have played for the 1st team this past season, but i've listed them simply because they're still listed as under 20's players on the club site.

If that had happened in the street would it be viewed the same though? Rather than asking for a handshake maybe someone asks you for the time or a light for a cigarette. You either ignore them or tell them to fuck off and they shove you in the back, you turn round and throw a punch followed by a kick at which point two of his mates get involved. I doubt the police would look at that as a simple case of handbags. Truth is, we very rarely see that kind of thing after games in football, so even if it did go to court it wouldn't really cause much of an issue within the game I don't think.

Keevins isn't shite at his job though, he's very good at it. His job is to generate interest in the show, get people phoning in, raise levels of participation. He does that in spades. Anyone can see that he makes these outlandish claims because he knows that he'll antagonise people into calling in to argue with him. After the first game on Thursday there was actually people phoning in simply to ask when Keevins would be back on so they could ring in and talk to him! He plays both sides of the Rangers & Celtic divide like a well tuned violin, so he does. He has both sets of fans believing he's "secretly" a supporter of the other, and he knows exactly what to say and when to say it to send either side into a tizzy. Him saying that Rangers would romp the tie had fuck all to do with disrespecting Motherwell, and everything to do with getting the green side of the numpty divide to go mental and be queuing up to phone in and say "told you so!!" if we won, and to prompt Rangers fans into agreeing with him. He's probably the one old school journo who's actually evolved and knows how to play the media game.

Among other things, that may be down to the new yoga classes that the management team brought into play (and which caused a fair few laughs among some of our support). Whilst Yoga may not be a pastime of many in North Lanarkshire, it can't be denied that the people who practice it are in phenomenal shape usually, especially if they're actually athletes.

Fucking hell, i'm not buying that. Surely not, unless he's coming in as a coach or something.
-
That's a good point. I'm a little disappointed that he chose to fuck off at the first available opportunity if i'm honest, but the £500,000 odd that we're apparently getting does soften the blow a bit.
-
Erwin's situation has unfortunately come along just a bit too soon for our new ownership to get a handle on it by the looks of things.

I could actually feel the anger and frustration seep through my computer screen as I read through that!
