  1. Or 6 in 25 if you include cup games. He's 21 and when in the Championship with Dundee scored more than one goal every three games. Not saying that he'll be good but you can pick your statistics to make a case either way...
  2. I was replying to a post (and I think quoted it) that suggested the proposal was so bad that there was no need for a vote, the Society Board should just reject it. I wasn't suggesting there wouldn't be one...
  3. What if the majority of Society members disagree with the board? Not that I think it's the case, but for such a big issue surely members have to have a vote..?
  4. I'd argue the value of some of the assets isn't written in stone. What's the value of Fir Park? Whatever someone's willing to pay for it? Same applies to players. Value of future income? Well, how do you forecast that? We could do a Falkirk and disappear to League One. I'm not suggesting it's a fair value that's been assigned but I think it's very hard to state that there is a specific value that Motherwell Football Club is worth...
  5. Calm down. The Well Society is a democracy, you would no doubt complain if they made a decision of this scale without consulting members. The Society board (well, the majority of them) are making it quite clear they disagree with the valuation. But it's right that members can make up their own minds. I think your criticism of the Well Society is quite harsh here. And I say that as someone without a dog in the fight as I'm not a member of the society...
  6. Obviously you didn't read the article where they mentioned the inadequate valuation of the club as one of several reasons they were against the proposals..
  7. Hard to disagree with that. Although I'm most interested in seeing who we bring in goalkeeper wise as it'll give an indication as to where Oxborough is first choice, second choice or competing with the other keeper...
  8. He's young enough that hopefully he'll develop. And hard for anyone to shine on that junkie's carpet that Accies play on. Could be this season's Bair...
  9. Is this you writing Sparrow off already?
  10. Bevis wasn't the worst but he was the one out of contract. I think it may be as arbitrary as that. Because Casey and Blaney have the same weaknesses...
  11. I don't there's much of a difference between Mugabi and Casey. Both solid 90% of the time but prone to errors. I think the main difference is that our fans have seen Mugabi making his mistakes for longer and so are less tolerant of him..
  12. I think if you're looking for a bench mark for Bair, the fee we got for James Scott is a reasonable comparison. Both have the physical tools but both prone to missing chances they perhaps should take. Bair is older than Scott was when he left but inflation of prices since should make up for the age difference... That's my opinion anyway...
  13. I did see some chat of us being interested in some guy called Kofi Balmer from Crystal Palace. We were linked with him last summer and apparently both St Mirren and ourselves are interested this summer...
  14. As one of my mates said to me, if O'Donnell is the worst player we sign (re-sign) this summer then we'll be fine. If he's the best, we're fucked...
  15. I'm no fan of O'Donnell but Devine wasn't great either...
  16. Ah. Must confess to being vaguely aware that there were changes post Brexit but details had passed me by...
  17. Not wishing to be funny, but how does this guy qualify for a work permit?
  18. Maybe he likes it here? Also possible (and for me, this is the likely scenario) that given he was coming to the end of his contract, his agent has already had a look at what other offers are out there and for a guy that has seen very little first team action in two years, clubs weren't exactly knocking down his door? I think the rush to assume Oxborough will be our number one next season is premature. I reckon when we see who else we sign in terms of goalkeeper, we'll know more...
  19. I hate the League Cup group stage. Or maybe more accurately, I hate when it's scheduled for. The gap between football seasons is way too short. I remember going to last season's group games feeling no real enthusiasm for it. Never mind the squad not being ready, I'm not ready for football back at that point...
  20. There are more goalkeepers that are not first choice than there are first choice goalkeepers. It could be that Oxborough realises that there are very few first choice goalkeeping slots available, even less at clubs that might be seen as attractive. Equally likely as his being promised something. And I'm not saying that's definitely the case but Oxborough is not 19, he's been around football for a number of years. It could be he's just more realistic than some other keepers...
  21. A few points have been made on here following the lists released by the club. • Like most, I'm kind of surprised that Mugabi has been offered a contract. Not that I think he's any worse than Blaney or Casey but given how little he played the last couple of months, the game against St Johnstone felt like a sentimental chance to say cheerio. If he was the first centre half on our bench, I wouldn't be upset. We've had worse defenders... • I think it was Dave who seemed surprised that we offered Oxborough a contract when he wasn't deemed good enough when Kelly lost form. We have to remember that Kelly was club captain and clubs very rarely drop goalkeepers... • Before getting upset at our offering Slattery (and Mugabi and O'Donnell for that matter), maybe consider that we don't know what they've been offered Slattery offered pay as you play? O'Donnell and Mugabi offered terms of a bench player rather than a first pick. I reckon if we'd offered these players what they were after then they'd be on the same list as Oxborough and McGinn... I've been pretty uninspired by the names we've been linked with but will wait and see what the squad looks like as the league cup and then the league starts...
  22. Let's hope that this is just an off night for Easton, have seen nothing to suggest he's good enough...
  23. Casey is a bombscare. Not suggesting any of other defenders are fantastic, but he's no better than them...
  24. To me it looked like 352 as usual with bizarre choice to play Nicholson at wing back. Which might partly explain why he was poor..
