  1. I actually think Moult looks the pick of the strikers we have at the club. Scores goals and link up play is good. Should be a question of who partners him. Could he and Fletcher work as a pair? Sadly don't think we'll get to find out as I feel as if Baraclough's thinking is McDonald and A N Other.
  2. As I said, only my first impression. Looked clumsy to me, reminded me of Paul Baker. I've been around long enough not to judge a player on one appearance but others seemed impressed by him which baffled me. Hence I started my post asking if I was the only one that thought that...
  3. Only saw him against Ross County but am I the only one that thought Robinson looked absolutely useless? A fast Casagolda? Obviously, I'm not writing him off on the basis of one 45 minute showing but didn't see much cause for optimism...
  4. I'd be inclined to go 433 which would convert into 451 when we don't have the ball.. Ripley Law Laing McManus Chalmers Leitch Lasley Grimshaw Ainsworth Moult Johnson Would be reliant on Ainsworth and Johnson being diligent in tracking back...
  5. I did indeed mean Nielsen (auto correct on phone). I didn't say Gunnar was better than the others. Just that there's not much evidence that any of the others are any better...
  6. Must confess I've seen little evidence that Twardzik, Long or Ripley are notably better than Nelson...
  7. I was under the impression that both Moult and Fletcher were both signed for longer than one year? Therefore surely it's not 5/6 that are out of contract? I do agree with your general point though. We seem to be back to the situation that we had in the second half of last season with a larger squad in some areas than may seem necessary. With everyone fit, we will have Pearson, Lasley, Leitch, Grimshaw, Taylor and Cadden vying for two midfield spots. Up front, similarly we have Moult, Fletcher, Robinson, McDonald and Clarkson with only two spots to play for. Obviously, I'm not privy to how much each player is earning but does suggest a lot of salary will spend a great deal of time on the bench or in the stands...
  8. Opens up a new question. Do you go with a better player even if his attitude might be slightly off (as long as he trains properly) or do you go with the "nice guy" who's maybe not quite as good?
  9. There's nothing wrong with a bit of cockiness in a young footballer on the field. As long as they apply themselves. Only thing I'd say about Watt is that he's only just turned 18. Most young men at that age, we think we know more than we actually do. He has time to mature but he'll be doing it in the reserves if he doesn't improve his attitude...
  10. Disappointing to hear rumours that his attitude might not be quite right as I think he looks an excellent prospect. Still he's only recently turned 18 so has time on his side if he wants to make it...
  11. Such as? Luke Watt carrying an injury? Or getting too big for his boots...?

    Jake Taylor

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Jack Leitch is a saviour. But in a 442, he has offered a lot more than Taylor thus far and therefore can feel a bit hard done by in being dropped...
  13. Possibly at left midfield. Leitch looks a better option than Taylor in centre midfield...
  14. Pick the easy targets? Johnson was dropped when McDonald's form has been worse. Law's an easy target when McManus and others have let themselves down in defence...
  15. The issue regards the young players is already here. Leitch plays in a winning team against Killie. Finds himself dropped for Taylor who has contributed nothing in his short Motherwell career. Too many players trading on their reputation. McDonald in particular...
  16. Baraclough has made a rod for his own back with this team selection. If we lose and Taylor and Laing are poor, he's inviting criticism...
  17. Could argue that our strikers not scoring isn't the problem. Fletcher, one in two starts. Moult, three in five starts. Maybe need the rest of the team to start chipping in...
  18. There's a question. When are we expecting Pearson back? I suspect this week may be too early but was the original assessment not 7-8 weeks? A couple of weeks time maybe?
  19. CAR, Hong Kong, Belgium and USA, struggling to name the players. You missed Austria..
  20. Okoli is from Nigeria. The other countries...?
  21. I'm obviously rubbish at this as I can only come up with around 26...

    Well Bois

Funny, the Odense game didn"t really bother me that much. I reckon growing up watching Motherwell, the latter stages of the UEFA cup were never something I coveted. Scottish Cup finals and league cup finals probably were. Probably took the semi defeat to Celtic under Butcher when Corrigan made that passback harder than Odense...
  23. Given Baraclough's comments, he's been brought in to play in midfield. The fact he can play in defence will simply be a bonus that gives us some more options...
