Indeed, more often than not tackles like that one result in a yellow card. Only thing I would say is that the Dundee United guy (Swanson) was sent off for something similar at Fir Park. Doesn't make it the right decision all the same. For me, the reaction of the Falkirk players made the referee's mind up for him...

And here was me thinking that we'd decided to follow the example of other clubs like Hibs and play hardball regarding fees for young players with long contracts...

Wouldn't worry too much since if Nash is being let go at the end of the season, that's when Moyes has admitted that he wants to bring in some keeper from Poland... Slovakian dude..

You talking about yerself there, Frazzle? Having never been tempted to go on it (never been that tempted to look at what most footballers say - in most cases their brains are contained in their feet), I can't say I'm crushed that it's now private. Nothing that people posted on here from his site was particularly eye opening...

Heard a rumour today that the stumbling block is Archie Knox. Not that Boyle doesn't rate him, but there a couple of factors that make Boyle want someone else as Brown's number two. The wage that Knox is on for an assistant manager is a bit rich for Boyle's tastes. That and the fact that Boyle would rather have an assistant that Brown can groom to take over in a couple of years time. Like I say, just a rumour. Funny how Brown makes a point of mentioning Knox in every interview though...

I see all the housewives have been on voting already There should be a Coke/Lasley partnership option in this poll, I reckon. Went for Coke, only cos Lasley will win this poll and Coke deserves a bit of recognition as his partner in crime...

Lasley and Coke look like a good midfield combination. Taking it in turns to get forward or get wired in. Get Coke signed up now. When in the mood he looks fantastic. And it looks like the management team now have got what it takes to put him back in the mood. And Humphrey will be some player once his decision making improves. And Jamie Murphy was superb when he came on. Didn't allow himself to be intimidated despite the best efforts of the St Mirren defence. Only slight negative from me is that Ross Forbes is looking like a bit of a passenger in the team at the moment...

Nein, danke. Non, merci. No, ta. How many ways can I say it...?

Replacing Paul Slane one would assume...?

Murphy, I'll agree with you on. The only problem with Murphy is trying to find the right position to play him in. Saunders has started one of two of the games where Brown picked the team and was apparently carrying a knock on Saturday. Forbes also started one of the two games and I suspect the reason he didn't start on Monday was his lack of stamina and it was our second game in three days. The guys who seem to have dropped out are Mouatouakil and Jennings. The first is no loss, and the second never featured heavily under Gannon. Hutchison and Slane are the other two players that you'd hope would play. And both have been injured. I love to see young guys coming through into the first team as much as the next guy, but you do need experience as well. And as most people (not myself) seem to think our experienced players aren't good enough, it might be an idea if Brown signs some experience. But let's wait and see who he does sign/play before criticising him for it. Bottom line for me is that if the young guys are good enough, they'll play. For me, Hutchison is the one to watch. If we can get him fit, he'll be vital to our team and we might not need to worry about Reynolds departure...

While taking on board the rest of your post, this comment interests me as it's what a few people have suggested on this thread. I didn't see much evidence on the park that Gannon had the ability to rise above the crowd. I liked his ideas (liked the early ideal of the 4-2-3-1) but he seemed unable to implement them. Even after removing supposed "bad apples" from the team. It takes time, I know. But we seemed to be going backwards under Gannon following a very promising start...

Davies and McLeish, it was their first job. Butcher, right time right place, lucky with the players we had coming through. And when he took over, we needed a rabblerousing "us against the world" manager. Like I said, right time, right place...

Ah, already the analysis of the Gannon regime begins. I think we need to see where Gannon's career goes from here to see whether we've missed out on a footballing visionary or whether what we witnessed is to become a pattern in that he can't settle at any club as he has a habit of upsetting the applecart. But anyway, my two cents worth... I don't really see where the suggestion that his desire for fitness in the players is where the players had a problem with him. As Malky says, I think a lot of this stems from the fact that McGarry was one of those cast aside. And ignores the perseverance with Ross "60 minutes" Forbes. Malky is also right when he says that the likes of Lasley and Craigan hardly have Richie Foran's reputation for excess. We played the ball on the deck under Gannon. Not the first Motherwell manager to do this. Unfortunately he seemed unable to add much of a cutting edge. The ball was not moved quickly enough. This idea that Gannon is some kind of Arsene Wenger visionary that Scottish football just didn't understand, well as I said earlier, it's still to be proven. His signings have very much been a mixed bag, and some of his tactical decisions during games were puzzling at best. Maybe given time he could have got the team playing his way, and it would have been superb. Maybe not. But it doesn't really matter. Because it would appear he didn't want to be here in the long term. He alienated Craigan very early in his regime. Ditched Lasley almost as quickly. If alienating players was the reason for his leaving, it would have happened a lot sooner. Fact is he left because he couldn't get on with the board and they felt he wasn't committed. Whether he was a footballing genius or not, it seems it was never going to happen here...

I'm glad this thread was started as I had completely forgot that Saturday's game was live on telly. Had I not read this, I'd be turning up at about quarter to three at FP on Saturday. Of course, after the game I might not be so thankful for the reminder...

Ict Away: Re-scheduled For Mon 18th Jan (3rd Time)

Technically was Gordon Young not in charge for the Hearts game? Did Brown not make it clear that Young would take any credit for that game...? -
Glad to hear that most folk think that Coke and Lasley played well together. Playing Coke alongside either Lasley or Jennings does look on paper like the kind of midfield partnership that could serve us well. But seriously how Motherwell lives has Keith Lasley got? Written off under McGhee, written off under Gannon. And he keeps coming back. Drop him at your peril...

Just playing devil's advocate here, Frazzle, but maybe he thought it was too much for the trust to achieve or even aim for whereas perhaps he thinks that the club would be in a better position to actually cost/investiagte it as a possibility... Just a thought...

If Killie players were complaining of Jeffries' bullying, what will they make of Tommy McLean?
-
Not suggesting he would, big man, but were he about to sign a new contract or at least thinking about it and came on here to see himself described as an ungrateful wee fanny (I'm paraphrasing, you understand) then he might think "Mibbe no...". I'm reminded of the reasons that Duncan Shearer never signed for us in the first place...
-
Correct for two points. It's all very well saying that people qualified a lot of their statements with "IF he leaves" or saying it's a minority who were having a go, but were I Paul Slane reading this I'd be off anywhere else, boyhood heroes or not...
-
Is he jumping? Or being pushed? Haven't heard any word of this...
-
I find the back row is fine for that...
-
I'll assume I'm the first guy. Which is fine. Don't you know a football stadium is no place for rational sense...??

International Player Revealed?
MelvinBragg replied to Bobby Russell's lovechild's topic in Club Chat
Did McGlinchey not play for Scotland at the same U20 tournament that Reynolds did? A red-headed winger if memory serves correctly? I remember watching some of those games and thinking that the guy was simply not good enough. He might have improved since then, mind you...
