I didn't think we looked solid with Lasley on the field. But Moult for Lasley was the change about 60 minutes. By the time the change was made, Cadden (man of the match) was tiring and Moult should have been brought on for him. The shape was all wrong today. When your centre forward is having to go back to the centre circle to pick up the ball, you're too deep. Other aspect of our shape is by playing one out and out winger and the ball is always going to him, it's very easy for teams to shut you down. Particularly if certain players hold on to the ball too long. If Johnson is being doubled up on, we need to switch the play quickly and have someone providing width on the other side. Something which, on today's evidence, Cadden is capable of providing..

Louis Moult is to blame for a goal that was coming 15 minutes before he came on? Aye, very good. There is only one individual to blame for that today. The guy that sent out a team that had us on the back foot for much of the game. Two or three individuals played poorly today but the shape was the problem. The manager is not nearly as clever as he thinks he is and when he tries to prove otherwise, it blows up in his face...

McDonald? Torn faced? Never... McGhee? Tactical mistakes? Surely not? Next thing people will be telling me the grass is green and the sky is blue... -

Same as last season, generally incapable of seeing a game out whether in the lead or holding on for a draw. Concerning. Also concerning is the apparent shift to 343. Second McGhee tactical brainfart in four games... -

I wonder if McGhee criticising the ref's decision on Saturday went through the ref's mind... -

Continuity is no bad thing. Even if Gomis gets the last half hour, that'll help for Saturday. Hopefully we won't need to bring him on. Another couple of days training with the team before the cup game won't do any harm... -
Any mentions of a link between Motherwell and this guy Rothwell, prior to yesterday (and frankly the media only mentioned it after it had been on here), were dated Sept 2015. Which suggests to me that someone got him and Grimshaw mixed up. Hard to tell because they were all in a foreign language...

Obviously I wouldn't ask anyone to spill in the know information but what position was McGhee looking at?

By my reckoning (and I'm including anyone who's started a first team game in the SPL), we have 2 goalkeepers 4 full backs (including 1 who can play centre half) 4 centre halfs (including one who can play full back) 5 midfielders 3 wingers 4 forwards (assuming McFadden stays) Now you can argue about quality or, in talking about midfielders particularly, the type of players we have, but that's a first team squad of 22 players. How many players should we even be looking to add to that? Personally, I reckon we have enough about us to stay up. In the summer Lasley, McManus, Hammell, McDonald and a few others are out of contract. Given the average age of those I've mentioned, the summer window may be a time when we need to be busy in the market. By trimming the wages bill now, we may give ourselves more room to manoeuvre then...

Indeed. Someone posted earlier the number of games those we've moved on have played. Not many. Would rather see Cadden, Leitch, Watt, McLean, Hall and Thomas get a chance than sign more Tony Strakers or Nathan Thomas'. And before anyone says that McGhee would have spent the money wisely and not on rubbish, he's not faultless. Michael Fraser, Maros Klimpl, Bob Malcolm...

Aye, apparently despite Aberdeen meeting Tansey's release fee, ICT simply refused to let him speak to Aberdeen. Mind you, midnight is still an hour and a half away...

Free agents market, it is...

After his performances last season, I'd rather sign Billy Mehmet...

If we were looking for a striker for the first team, I'd be interested in Goodwillie but no reason for him to swap Aberdeen's bench for ours. And would he play ahead of Moult or McDonald..?

Burrows on Twitter saying he can't move to a club outwith England because he's played for two clubs there already. Suggests club considered it, if only for a second... EDIT Just beaten to the punch..
