From the sunday herald .There was an intriguing sub-plot to the contest following Uefa's announcement last week that Scotland will have another representative in Europe next season by virtue of finishing third in their Fair Play League. The SPL club with the best disciplinary record which has not already qualified will enter the new Europa League in the first qualifying round at the start of July. Currently, that is Motherwell. However, Hibernian and St Mirren lie narrowly behind them. It is a highly unusual, possibly unique, situation for the former to find themselves in. They could conceivably set out with the deliberate aim not to pick up any more yellow or red cards in the remaining games of the season in order to guarantee a return to continental competition. It was interesting, then, to see manager Mark McGhee drop Maros Klimpl to the bench. The uncompromising Slovakian has been outstanding since moving to Scotland but has also picked up no fewer than 10 yellow cards in just 20 matches in this country. Go figure. Still, nobody could have accused Motherwell of not trying to win.

Great result and good to see D.C grab a couple he must be nearing last seasons tally now,all the best to St.Mirren though if they stay up good for them.

Tell you what guys i will be keeping my season ticket money firmly in my pocket till we get a rough idea of what sort of team we will have next year. Money is tight and i wont be forking out 200 quid plus to watch what could be no better than a junior side.
-
Well done D.C loyalty is a rare thing in football today.
-
I don't see how McGhee can say we're the 3rd best footballing team in the league to be honest. As someone says he talks a good game.
-
MARK McGHEE says he'll have to become a magician this summer to pull new signings out of thin air. The Fir Park gaffer says he's struggling to seal deals with transfer targets as English Championship clubs are offering THREE times the wages of Motherwell's top earners. He groaned: "We've been talking to the agent of a player in the First Division since Christmas and were confident we might get him. "Then he got an invitation to speak to a Championship club who have already offered him three times our best wages. "Some youth players are ready to progress but that's not enough to equip the squad - we need experienced players. "Last year we found Maros Klimpl, Jim O'Brien and John Sutton . We'll need to do the same again this year."

Cheers Ricky was starting to think the game was Sunday, anyway the pressure is all on Falkirk today which might just be to our advantage, think we might just pile the pressure on the bairns today winning 2-0.

Just wondered as there isnt a thread or anything.

one guy who should now be out of the team completely is big sillyyin, he should be on his way back to celtic .

"I'm not prepared to wait until the start of next season because there is going to be changes, if necessary, and that includes these last five games. "Anyone who doesn't want to be part of it can tell me now and move on. Every single one of them has the opportunity to be with us next season but they have to show me over the next five games that they want to be here." Well said Mark Give them a date to make up there minds, stick to it and if they haven't made up there minds let them go and get someone else in.

why not ,and i will be renewing my season ticket as well.

We go on a good run for the first time this season and we start touting McGhee for another job. There has been hardly any speculation at all this season mostly because we have been crap and the gaffers stock has fallen. In fact just a few months ago many wanted him sacked, personally I couldn't care less if he stays or goes. What will be interesting is whether he starts talking about moving on again now that he is on the up again.

killie have been a bit difficult opponents over the last few seasons and that's our first point out of a possible 9 this term . I know a win would have been great but a point is better than nothing.
-
Clark and Sutton for me ,to be honest I've not been overly impressed with Cillian .
-
Well logically speaking if we can beat them by four up in dundee we can do the same at motherwell today, so 4-0 again.
-
Buzz can go as far as I'm concerned ,the guy is a decent keeper but his game has some real weaknesses .
-
I work beside a couple of jambo season ticket holders and they cant believe they are third in the league.

We're going for it, make no mistake about it,"
-
First our chances of making the top six. "We're going for it, make no mistake about it," said McGhee, talking of his teams' ambitions between now and the end of the current campaign. Second one or two thoughts about Hearts. Hearts seem to be getting results, although I don't know how, but I very much look forward to meeting them again. He was then asked about his spat with the Hearts manager about him going bananas for a tackle by Klimple on Diver. "I asked him what the problem was and he told me to f*** off." "I'm quite upset about it and quite disappointed to be honest. I looked up and there was a foul. There are fouls in the game all the time but the reaction from their bench was as if there was an assassination. It's like a pantomime at times!" "I was disappointed but at the same time satisfied I have a good team." Finally about the Craig incident and his condition. "He seems to be okay, there is no real concern over his condition," McGhee confirmed. "He appears to have taken a dull one to the side of the head. I think the clash was accidental." Liked the bit about looking forward to meeting them again.

First defeat in 10 so lets just take it on the chin and get on with securing a top six place, europe was a big ask even before tonights game .
-
Good interview with the gaffer.
-
Not pretty but great effort from the guys ,some might say celtic missed a few chances but hey if you dont take them then you dont deserve to win. Motherwell one chance one goal thats 100% in my book.
-
We might even win it noo.
-
Cant fault the players for effort though , and as long as there is only one goal in it we still have a chance.
