  1. Certainly didn't do any harm to the game. Thought bringing Lasley off instead of him was a big mistake though. He played reasonably well, probably one of the better performer on the night. Saying that, it's not exactly difficult. Time will tell but there are some positive signs there.

  2. You say "International Class Player", Reading says "good enough for a League Two" loan.

He may or may not be a great signing, but I still wouldn't drop him in at Tynecastle as a first team starter.

Oh, and Brian Kerr was an international class footballer with 2 more caps than Taylor.

At least with Brian Kerr you got the odd screamer and few good assists. If we get half of what Kerr contributed from Taylor, we can probably consider it a success.

Think this will be a tough game with a big home crowd. We need to be strong at the back because the Hearts attack force will be a similar challenge to Dundee United. A few tricks and a bit of luck could see us concede silly goals again. But as others have pointed out, we are strong on the attack as well and their defence is rank.

Gonna go for 2-1 'Well. Jaunma scoring the opener with Ainseorth hitting two. Also fancy a red card.

  3. I've managed to get a mate to me pick me up tickets who I didn't think was coming through but has changed his mind.

Cheers for (what I presume) was going to be an offer to get me tickets though Wellfan! Good man!

No worries bud! One less thing to remember tomorrow

  4. That would be excellent! I'll confirm tomorrow if thats ok? I'll meet you outside Tynecastle. I'll be wearing a pink carnation.....

Bring me a bouquet and I'll knock £2 off yer ticket fee ;)

I'll be heading through morning time so yeah, PM me and let me know.

  5. I know it's not all about me, this ticket scenario is hugely inconvenient I feel.

I'll need to wait till Wednesday morning/lunchtime/afternoon to find out whether I can just stoat up to Tynecastle and buy one!

I had fully intended going to this game but it's in the balance now.

Just off the phone to the club who state there is no movement at the moment on the tickets and that there would likely be none until the club send all tickets back to Tynecastle. (Side note, our office staff are VERY polite by comparison to other clubs)

I'm going to travel through to Fir Park, from edinburgh, in the morning to buy tickets and I could get yours if you'd like? Let me know, it's no inconvenience to me to buy an extra one.

  6. Flow said there are no Trialists, however that's not to say we haven't got players signed up who just have not been revealed as signings yet!

It's quite possible that was have signed players in principle but just haven't got the contract sorted.

As for the player to Lasleys Right, it's quite clearly Josh Law.

  7. Well said Richie. Just waiting on the 'my cousin is York fan and he's gash' statement.

Small thing, looks like he takes penalties. Good sign, since Handsome left.

Of and if you don't start smiling don't blame us for getting called Posh Spice.

    Needs to vary his penalties

Every pen featured in that video was to the same spot! Saying that, Richie Foran never varied his pens much! But in a smaller league with less players, keepers will know a players preferred spot!

  8. Think the shoutbox function is great for quick updates and alerting the forum to interesting/important topics. Perhaps it can be used for tea lines and score updates on match days only? Nothing worse than scrolling through threads and having to wait for an entire page to reload in order to see whether there was a penalty given or not.

    All for keeping it.

  9. Accies, since 2008, have taken in well over £4m in player sales, and sell-on fees. They haven't really bought anyone in Through paying a fee so I would not be surprised if they do pay more, and are using banked cash. But as said before, it could easily be invested in their youth and the reason why they are still getting interest!

    McArthur - £500k +£500k sell onMcCarthy - £1.2m+ add ons + £3m sell onHendrie - £2m

Dundee United are ridiculously lucky, shrude and very clever. Ryan Gauld at 18, sold for £3m and has a buy out cost of £48m at Sporting. Dundee United also have a tidy sell on fee due if any team takes that price up. And £2m for Goodwillie, £2m for Andy Robertson etc. Very clever. When Eddie Thompson passed away, Uniteds finances changed dramatically and Stephen Thompson is doing everything right.

  10. First post in a long time and feel like i can weigh into the conversation.

Plastic pitches would be advantageous to the club in the long run. Financially, It can be rented out at a cost of £100/hr (Maximum) which can be pocketted by the club and would pay itself off in a season. It would reduce the need for the annual relaying process and midseason tear. So, at a cost of around £50'000 for a FIFA 2* 4G pitch, minus the annual cost of groundwork plus rent, the club would make a tidy sum every year. Not to mention the fact that it can be used accross the board for training and playing purposes. Another exciting prospect would be using the stadium for Youth level cup finals/games. Although not a highly lucrative possibility, it would certainly add to the "Community Club" tagline we drag around with us. All hypothetical, ofcourse.

As for comparisons with other teams, only Falkirk, Airdrie and Alloa have a FIFA 2* pitch (to my knowledge) which they are using for games. Stenhousemuir have the worst pitch I have ever seen which is an old style astroturf. I have seen these pitches first hand having worked in Youth Football, and have never seen a bad game. Its not down to the pitch, its down to the team playing on it. If Hutchison Vale U14s can go from Saughton Enclosure to playing on Airdries pitch without a change of style, there is no excuse for a top flight clubs not to do so. (Saughton Enclosure being a very well kept, but very bumpy and rough pitch)

I reckon a better plan would be to invest in a privste 3G for training/renting which will provide the players witha place to enhance their abilities on the stuff. I know the team use Ravenscraig during the winter, but that will be at a substantial cost to the club.

EDIT: Teams not including the aforementioned Hamilton and Kilmarnock

  11. Conjecture. What do you base that on? As for similar analogy to Rangers & Hearts? Piffle.

The loan is of the soft variety believed by some to be from within. Whilst the Society as it stands are not publishing details prior to any deal being struck and/or upcoming special general meeting - it has been mentioned members wouldn't be liable.

Hearts survival came in the face of adversity, the Well Society has tried to raise monies outwith such a scenario - you honestly believe they couldn't raise required funds in future if the situation, god forbid, is bleak? Have a word with yourself.

My fear, regardles whether I figure fan ownership will succeed or not, is the chance to rebuild from the bottom up with a fresh approach coaching wise may well be missed.

Okay, you're right it is conjecture. It's based upon our falling finances over the last 3 years, our inability to profit from players, our receding attendances etc. With regards to the WS, I will happily remove them from my post as I suppose not enough details have been shared.

Any loan is risky- regardless of how soft it is. If it's to get us over the line in order to get the shares then fair enough. But repayment of £1m when over 3 years they've only raised £500k? Don't get me wrong, I don't want this to fail. I just don't see it.

As for the raising funds in the face adversity statement- Hearts fans did wonders. They rallied together and I think we will too. But hearts had resources to get rid of, they had more than enough to set themselves on the right track. We have Fir Park and not much else. But even that was valued recently as a very small amount IIRC.

I just think a club needs a leader, someone who will get them out of the rut.

  12. I think that if the Well Society is struggling to get funds now, it's going to struggle to get them in five years. It's a nice idea and one that I myself was a supporter of, but, that was two years ago and things have changed.

The clubs finances are screwed and the WS has already not got enough in the bank to provide another loan. Not to mention the fact that it's considering a loan of £1m to buy the club. It was loans like this that forced Rangers and Hearts into admin. We don't have the fan base to recover like they did.

I think it's come to the time where an external investor is required with or without the Well Society. When the future of the club is at stake, it's vital that the right choice is made. I hope WS can do it, and I want them to do it but I don't think the club will survive without a constant flow of money from someone at the top.

But that's not to say that this consortium is good. I too have looked into the past Solano ventures and found inter Toronto. But the very league is only in its inaugural season as are all 10 (9 without IT) clubs in it. It had its licence revoked for failing to meet league standards with its stadium protocol. That is a staff job, not an owners job.

I hope this is resolved before the Inverness game. We need stability right now.

  13. I think if one big team dies, it gives the opportunity for a smaller team to rise -The Rangers are not included. Given the fact that it's only once in a blue moon that a new team actually enters the SPFL ladder, I would not be adverse to giving my support to that team- Hence, my support of Spartans!

Could never take in another Top Flight game though. It wouldn't be right.

  14. Did the SFA video recording for the Linlithgow Rose v Raith Rovers game on Saturday and I fancy our chance against Raith! Linlithgow should have been 3/4 up at half time and it took a decent Raith side until 70 minutes to break the deadlock!

Although, I'd personally take anyone at the moment. We need a win so I wouldn't mind getting Brora Rangers- although, they have a striker on a grand a week.

  15. We are going to get shafted yet again. Can't see MCCALL Being in charge come December. Sadly I don't see a single point being gained this year. Our biggest chance will be Ross Count and St Mirren in December, but even then unless we change something for the better we will struggle.
