  1. What usual back 4? The one with Hammell or Zfa or Reid at left back? Or Ramsden , Kerr or Reid at right back? Or, in fact the one with McManus, Kerr, O'Brien or Ramsden in the middle?

The back 4 has been all over the shop this season.

    Aye, right enough.

    Hammell, Obrien,Mick, Reid

    Or

    hammell, Rambo, Mick, Reid

Stupid changes to an already OK back four will leak goals!

  2. Aye, we are going to lose by 4/5 here unless MCCALL and the Players get something right!

Think we need a switch up of players, bring in a couple u20s, leave the failing players out for a bit. We are losing games without change, we should risk defeat with one.

Dom Thomas looks decent, partnered by Vigurs and Ojamaa in the front 3 could do us a turn.

Midfield of Carswell, Leitch and Lasley

    Usual back four.

Anyone in goals. Equal liability between the pair.

Perhaps a bit of creativity will lead to something..

  3. Worryingly, if we don't win this and Ross County gain the confidence, we could see ourselves sitting bottom of the league in two games!

Ross County play us then Aberdeen -Unlikely to win both games, but not impossible.

We obviously play Ross County then Celtic - should probably take 4 points, won't on account of our fitness problems.

St Midden play Kilmarnock then Partick, both away - 50/50 games.

But, I don't see this panning out at all, and who would? I see us winning in Dingwall 1-0. John Sutton.

  4. So that adds to the suggestion that JP leaving has left us with noticeable injury absences!

Nothing against the Adam Stokes or Aileen Anderson (though she has only been in the job a week), but clearly JP knew what he was doing and still managed to keep the players fit!

But I also think it's just been a slow start for some players and a niggle early on in the season is not uncommon! Better having one now than one in the run in before the split!

  5. I hope McCall has the players training at either Ravenscraig or Toryglen for this one! The plastic pitch has been our downfall in recent times and we need to overcome this if we are to compete!

Think if we can adapt to the surface, we should be able to take the points here! Kilmarnock are yet again unimpressive on paper, and I doubt this will change on the pitch. Assuming Ojamaa and Obrien are both ready to feature at some point, we should be covered well from the whole match!

Think we will stick the same team out as Saturday, as this is McCalls way of doing things!

  6. Of course we're not trying to cost ourselves money!

The facts are that the various bodies required to make games like this go ahead are currently occupied elsewhere (the same reason why there are virtually no other senior club playing football in West Central Scotland on this weekend) so it was either take the game and play it behind closed doors, or don't take the game at all. We had looked into several other fixtures against teams from England that may have made it possible for fans to attend (hence the delay in actually confirming) but nothing would quite work.

Given the pertinent points people make about having games - and Betis XI will be the eighth of the summer thus far - and the time between the last game and St Mirren, no fixture wasn't an option.

Are you not allowed to just blame the Commonwealth games?

What if the club mistakingly left the gate to the East stand open? whistling.gif

  7. For once we have a really big team over for a friendly and they have to have it Closed Doors?

Would have been a decent crowd for this.

    The translated article:

"The preseason Real Betis already has closed all dates regarding friendly matches is concerned. A scheduled meetings in Britain before the Stoke City FC at the Britannia Stadium on August 6 and commitment against Sunderland a day later, adds a new rival, the Motherwel l FC . The Scottish side, who play in the Premier League in his country, will face Velazquez on 2 August at 15:00 (16:00 at Spain) at Fir Park Stadium. Thus, will be 11 friendlies played Betis team to complete the set-up overlooking the start of the 2014-2015 campaign.

The bética expedition will depart tomorrow, Friday August 1st to British shores to play three friendlies commented, although the first contestant on the calendar is the Marbella FC rival with which he shall rule forces the Real Betis this evening at the 21:00 pm in the Municipal Stadium. This preparation phase will end with a return to Sevilla on day 8.

For the week of 11 to 17 August, the last prior to the curtain of the league competition is elk, Julio Velázquez set even played two matches, the first one before the AC Fiorentina on 11 August at 21:00 in the Estadio Benito Villamarín. Four days later, on August 15, the block Heliopolitan visit the Nuevo Colombino Stadium to face the RC Recreativo de Huelva . "

  8. Probably up underboyleheatings' street this one... Hadn't taken a closer look at the wee fella's kit till Saturday night, has anybody noticed an anomaly in the club club crest? I'd be highly surprised if his was the only one. Detailing on the outline is very wrong. Still not calmed down since returning from Iceland so this could well be the last straw :umbrage:

Just took a look and the badge seems to have gained a few pounds over the summer! A bit chunky on the inside folds of the ribbon.

Apart from that and the obvious money saver quality however...

  9. I'd take pretty much anything above relegation. Finish as high as possible for financial reasons and nothing more. A run in a cup, Hampden once is a must if McCall wants to ensure he can keep this support on side.

If not, at Top 3 finish and change of gaffer for (just) the euro games next season.

Think January's window could be pivotal. If we bring in some player from down south with pace to stop Fraser Kerr playing right mid every game, we should be able to keep a fight going. Or indeed if we manage to make a decent pre-contract signing to give the players some incentive to keep going.

Think a change of the senior players will also play a part this season. Don't think Las or Hammy will be up to scratch for the most part so Jack Leitch will get his chance more often than not.

  10. Don't disagree with you on Smith but our team season 2012/13 was better than McGhee's team...

Probably a fair point. They were the team to buck the trend at Motherwell.

Point being, we do need to give Dan a chance.

  11. Who remembers Buzz? Now.... HE was some keeper. Flapped at corners, sliced every goal kick out, didn't reach puberty, let in 6 goals every now and then.... Was still the Number 1 in our best team this side of the Millenium.

Don't judge Dan on he is few errors. Judge him on his positives. As Welldaft pointed out, he is no worse than average in his negatives. But getting top marks on his positives.

    One game this season. One.

  12. JP is away, discussing it on here won't change that. Time now for Adam Stokes to step up or for someone else to take his place, end of. Thought this was meant to be a ins and outs for players not staff.

As I have said, I heard that we could be looking at Dan the Man's brother Patrik. Was wondering if there had been any other names rumoured

Calling him "Dan the Man" makes me wish we never signed him... Cringe...

But aye, you're right enough that JP is gone. But you can't complain at people expressing their opinion on the guy. It's an Ins and outs thread; not just for the players, but for the club.

Where did you hear this rumour? It's a common one to hear when a player has siblings looking for clubs tbh - we were linked to a Josh Law long before a nicky left for Sevco and Hindrek Ojamaa was thrown about as well for a bit!

  13. Saw a belter of a post on Toffeetalk claiming Everton look set to give us nearly £3m for two players - one of which an 18 year old and the other called Robertson!

Never laughed so hard in my life.

Took a screenshot, but I can't upload it here because of it's size.

  14. Tony Watt scored against Barca and got too big for his boots. Notoriously lazy and simply not worth the gamble even on loan..

Sheils would be a good signing. Pacey enough to fit the bill, has an eye for goal and tends to find the right ball. Still a wanker though.

  15. Think Goodwillie as a signing has potential.. He couldn't get into a Dundee United team brimming with on-form talented Youngsters! A fit McFadden/Higdon hybrid wont get a game at Tannadice ahead of Nadir Cifcti..

Man U finished mid Table mind, but you wouldnt say no to having Wayne Rooney in your team would you?

I for one hope we pull this off as it would be a strong attacking line up - with a few years to spare unlike previous season where we've had a higher than necessary average age!

Goodwllie, Ainsworth, Anier, Sutton- McHugh, Moore and Erwin off the bench! Would you say no? I wouldn't.

Even if he is a rapey bastard

    Twardzik / Neilson

    Reid -Mick-__________-Hammell

    Ainsworth-Lasley-Vigurs

    Anier - Sutton - Goodwillie

    Looks good to me!
