Thats a bit harsh! Surely this would have been on the agenda: What dregs will the OF allow the peasants/hanger ons?

Hadnt given it much thought at the time but pre xmas I cancelled my ESPN subscription as most of the games they had been broadcasting were so shite I had stopped watching it as a channel. Still have a sky subscription due to the wider range of games available and some of the other sports they broadcast but as soon as the on-demand tv gets to the level whereby I can just pay for a single event then the sky subscription will be gone as well - if not sooner!! At the moment the only football I watch is Match of the Day on a Saturday night!!

Dont ever see the Scottish papers and haven't seen this mentioned before. Maybe should have its own thread and be pinned for a while so people can donate/sponsor.

Thats a good legal point but also remember that there is every possible chance that debt will drive at least one of these clubs out of business in the next 5 or 10 years or sooner as the product/entertainment becomes devalued and it loses even more of its paying audience.

Too many threads going on the same subject but felt it was worth cross posting here as the more I think about it the more I feel the debate shouldn't be about just the size of the league but I thought they were looking at a complete shake-up of football at all levels!! Posted the response below in the other thread re a response from leanne and to the following comment: Time the rest of Scottish football resigned, set up our own league and invited the Old Firm on the terms of the rest of Scottish Football. Fuck them they actually need us more than we need them and the sooner we and the rest of the spineless teams in the SPL realised this the better. Wouldn't actually take much as Clubs would just have to agree to either disband or resign from the SPL (subject to contracted notice period etc.) and reapply to join the SFL who would receive them with open arms and I believe would also happily look at their own management and governance structure to ensure fair play to all. There are two many organisations SPL, SFA, SFL SJFL or whatever its called, etc and really its a radical shake up of Scottish football that's needed from top to bottom with maybe only a single organisation with directorates for the National teams (all levels) and club football (both professional and junior). Save a fortune and all working to a single strategy thru a single nominated management board.

Totally agree. Clubs have lost sight of the fact that this is supposed to be entertaining and maybe they should be rewarded for that as well as winning.

Cant you stick a wee list up of some of the sale stuff thats always on those racks at the back of the shop or a few piccies. Would help us who always miss out because we left the country!!

Will always remember watching Arthur Montford with my Dad on a Sunday afternoon and have to agree that a highlights package on either a Saturday night (maybe repeated on a Sunday) or bringing back the Scotsport slot must be part of any new tv deal. Kids nowadays only ever see the scum live on Sky and so the cycle begins! Bring back Glen Michaels Cartoon Cavalcade as well........

Look at the teams currently all around us in the UEFA coefficient table and you will find that the majority of them operate with 14/16/18 team top leagues and all of them are on the up whilst Scottish football is tumbling down the rankings!

Some good points but most of it falls down when you ignore England, Spain and Italy and compare our proposed league structure to places like Sweden, Denmark, Croatia, Belgium, Holland and many others that have smaller populations but considerably more success at both Club level in Europe and with their national teams. The one big difference between all of them and Scotland though is that they do not suffer from the same bigoted religious shite that we have in Scotland! In every other country most fans support a club because they are either local to it or have some sort of family association to it. That means all teams get a good spread of support and even in the examples you mention of England and Italy - there has always been shifts in the powerbase and no two teams have just ruled for the last 120 years. You can recreate Scottish football as many times as we want but at the end of the day 90% of the population will drift towards one of the scum. So lets have a 16 or 18 team league as its been proven to be successful elsewhere, will provide some variety to the monotonous shite we currently see but more importantly it dilutes (all be it only a tiny bit) the direct control both scum exert on Scottish football!

Cant see the money or tv rights having much impact on the second tier and it all just seems window dressing to cover the fact that they want to revert to 10 team leagues!!

Now you have made it coherent, I fully agree and even if they made a statement similar to what you originally said then I would be happy to hear that. I have no problem with the club saying we chose this option for purely business reasons but we could also ask then that they drop the community club façade!!

Sorry weeyin but why say a statement is meaningless and then go on to make "the statement" that you want to hear from the club!! Sometimes wonder why bother posting on here!

No surprise - its all about those that already have a slice of the cake wanting an even bigger slice!! They care fuck all about the fans or the fact that its supposed to provide some form of entertainment but it will never change until either some clubs grow a set of baws or the scum go elsewhere - shame nobody wants them!

I totally agree with the sentiment of the original post and it's only respectful to say thanks to Young for taking a role that he didnt ask for and never wanted - his boss asked him to do it and he tried. But FFS the rest of the thread has just become a load of pish and drivel and I would actually prefer to see the Albo 10 pics again!! Diggle has an opinion in the same way the original poster did and whilst I might not agree with a lot of what he says - it's his opinion and its a reasonably valid one. Don't know which side brought up Gannon (especially in this thread) but I for one will always think back and wonder what would have happened if the club had possessed big enough baws to back him and see through his ideas!!
