  1. Devin out is a positive as McKenna and him have quite a decent partnership going.
  2. Seems to be shoulder so I doubt it. Gillespie signed as we thought Carson might leave in summer according to the manager (I'm paraphrasing but talked about bids etc)
  3. Fair enough. Our interpretations of 'falling down the pecking order' are different. Campbell will play Saturday
  4. No he hasn't. The manager has been quite clear a few times he is being rested due a long season and summer with no real break. Also the reason he was pulled from international duty.
  5. Positive hat on....I do actually think we are 1 decent goal scoring striker away from having an absolutely comfortable season. Before Ibrox we were generally only losing by the odd goal and most games have had sitters Bowman and Main have missed. Get even one of them scoring and we'll pick up points. Negative hat on...the football has been so boring at times it makes my eyes bleed. If we return to that and we continue with strikers not returning goals then I do think the manager will be off.
  6. A total shit storm basically. At least weve Albania v Scotland to look forward too....
  7. There doesn't need to be any chat about conspiracy here. The facts are: The ref made incorrect decisions at a key time which resulted in us losing a player and going to ten men. This impacted the match. We were on top of that shite tactically and also at a player level. This impacted the match. Both things happened. To ignore either one is skewing the story for your own argument.
  8. Totally agree with the second paragraph. But I do think to ignore the referee impact is wrong as it did change things. For me, though, Robinson has just about run his race. I wouldn't be calling for his head now. But, in my opinion, with the accumulation of less than great summer signings, poor league performance, stubbornness with the system/under performing players and the upcoming run of games....come end of the year he could be offski. A few players consistently making errors and bad decisions should also be given a long rest.
  9. Paul Slane guested on the Si Ferry podcast a couple of episodes ago. Well with a listen., especially the last half hour. Speaks well of Motherwell, albeit briefly.
  10. Perhaps the Craig Thomson chat has taken over a bit what is the match thread. But most posts state he's not the reason for losing 7-1. I think everyone agrees a 7-1 loss lies with the players and tactics. However to not discuss the referees part in the first half at a key point in the game though is cherry picking what you want to discuss. Unless you fully agree with both yellows and the penalty....which is fair enough if that's your opinion.
  11. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. Bad refereeing decisions did not mean we lost 7-1 but they were part of it very early in the game. To let Thomson off without comment would not tell the full story. ...and I get what you are saying about the new club etc. But come off it. It's not quite like we were playing a new club like Ross County or someone scrabbling together a team of free journeyman lower league pros. Most on here expected us to lose (Not me...I was hopeful sadly). So that loss happened it was the nature of it which was most disappointing.
  12. You'll be there a while boss as that's not even the club website
  13. Total of 9 sendings off from beginning of 17/18. Thomson has now sent off a Motherwell player 6 times, since the beginning of the 17/18 season. Here's our bad boy list.... 17/18 Ross County (LC), Dunne - Red - Finnie (LOST APPEAL) St Johnstone (A), McHugh - 2 yellows - Thomson (CAN'T APPEAL) St Johnstone (A), Carson - Red - Thomson (LOST APPEAL) St Johnstone (A), Dunne - Red - Thomson (RESCINDED) Celtic (LC), Kipre - Red - Thomson (NO APPEAL) Accies (H), Hartley - 2 yellows -Dallas (CAN'T APPEAL) Celtic (H), Kipre, Red - Thomson (DOWNGRADED TO YELLOW) 18/19 Livi (H), McHugh, 2 yellows - Collum (CAN'T APPEAL) Rangers (A),McHugh, 2 yellows - Thomson (CAN'T APPEAL)
  14. Take on board all the points about McHugh being rash - and not for the first time in his time here. But watching the game on the TV today I think he was hard done by. Morelos was throwing himself from the off to get a booking and the second yellow shouldnt even have been one. We were rocked after that for a good while and the marking at the 3rd goal proved that. Regardless, we should have been capable of containing it and not losing by 6 goals 6 'Well players sent off in 15 months for Thomson. That's pretty good going.
  15. Totally agree. Also, Morelos kicked out at Aldred, then feigned injury after it. Nothing said.
  16. So your in agreement with the 4th official and saw what he did?
  17. Started quite well I thought and good equalised from Bowmand and Main link up. Penalty can't really be argued but I'm also not sure he meant it. Hard to slide and block with your arms at your side. I'm more annoyed about his first yellow. Morelos is a diving wee fanny.
  18. I'd usually agree with that. But I just can't see them scoring a lot with the injuries they have up top. If we can keep Morelos nd Middleton quiet, and we get a goal, then it's possible I think. They dont have much to choose from if it's not working for them up front.
  19. Interesting story in the Sunday Post on Bigi and his mindset last year and changes this year, https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/bigirimana-is-now-out-to-reap-what-he-sows/ GAEL Bigirimana reckons his decision to stop viewing Motherwell as a stepping stone back to the big time could ironically be the very thing that gets him there. The midfielder will travel to Ibrox this afternoon on the back of some impressive performances. And he says that is down to a change in mindset about the Scottish game, and his place in it. “For me, last season was quite tough,” he said. “When I first came here, I wanted to get back to the English Premier League, and the Scottish league had seemed like a great platform. “I had been at big clubs, like Newcastle United and Rangers – which I enjoyed even though I didn’t play – and wanted to get back up to the top. “But that was completely the wrong attitude. “For some people, it’s OK. But for me, it’s not right. I wouldn’t want people to treat me like that. “So I had to examine myself and that was not easy. “I wasn’t enjoying it because my mindset wasn’t right and at one point I even wanted to quit.” But with the help of his wife, Bigirimana had a rethink and now he believes his wife’s outlook is the right one. “I don’t view Motherwell as a stepping stone any longer,” he said. “I play football to help my team-mates, to help the young boys, whoever I can help. “For me, it doesn’t matter if fans have an opinion, team-mates have an opinion or if the staff might have an opinion about why I am here. I know the truth. “We all hear people saying no player is bigger than the club and that is true. “As long as people care about the club, it will flourish. “I might not be here next year, or in two years, or I could be here for the rest of my career. But after I hang up my boots, the club will still be Motherwell. “No matter where you are, if you play with the right motives, you reap what you sow. “So, in my case, that could mean a move in the future. “But, as I say, I am playing my football for the present, not for the future.”
  20. Given they are missing Candeias, Kent, Coulibaly and (probably) Lafferty I think they'll struggle to make and take as many chances as they would normally. I also don't think they are great shakes at the back at all. If (big if) we can keep it tight we've got every chance.
  21. Nothing to fear of this Rangers team in my opinion. All the talk before the last time we played them was about their rock solid defence and we stuck 3 past them. They looked murder last night and they have some suspension/injuries to contend with. I'm hopeful.
  22. Fot me, Cadden's best role as it stands is when he has a bit of a start to run at players at pace, and has some support to either play the ball off, or overlap. Its when be has to do it from a standing start and rely on close skill to get round a player he struggles. That's not a slight on him- just the way it is I think. Similar to when Pearson broke in I think...he was so much better travelling at pace. So, wether it's right back himself, or right mid with a good attacking right back behind him, or even right wing back bit with decent tehnical support from midfield...all I think could work. But right back thus far seems the best bet as it gives him a wee bit more time to do things and get motoring. Expecting Cadden to do it all on his own as a wing back or winger just isn't going to work until the technical ability improves.
