2018/19 Game 27: Celtic (A) Sunday 24th February 3.00pm Kick Off

Hartley is carrying a knock I think or just over one - he was on the bikes with the other injured/just on the way back from injury. Begs tbe question why he wws even on the bench though. As for thr game, most of thr goals avoidable but 4-1 flattered them. Enough positives in there for me though. -

Played well up until Aldred went off. Imo, combination of not closing down the crosses and poor marking in the middle by Dunne (the first goal) and McHugh (the second goal) have cost us here. -
Ooft. A lot of panickers on here.

He's signing. Don't worry. -
Same starting 11 as the last game for me again. Hartley in if Aldred can't make it. The only other consideration is that Gboly just shades it for me over Frear.

Good longer term deal as well. Hope he fulfils the early promise. Sure he will. Sounds positive on Hastie and Maguire as well.

McCormack out with a calf strain Aldred touch and go with an ankle knock.

It's easy to look back once a player has moved on from us and say they should have stayed as having more regular games at SPFL level would have been best for them. When the actual decision has to be made there are so many variables with the player, the club (i.e. us), the club they are potentially moving too that it's overly simplistic imo, to state that staying at Motherwell for that extra couple of years to get regular games will always see them set up better for the future. It's definitely better for us and it's definitely the least risky option but it's not cut and dry in every situation. If a player makes a decision purely based on cash at a young age it's definable ill advised and risky. But if they really think they can make a move, get some extra cash, play in great training facilities with good coaches and play first team football in a couple of years then it would be hard to knock it back. All depends on the situation and well advised they are.

Have we ever signed someone who's done time in the pokey before?
-
Was Euan Murray the new Luke Watt? Or the other way around. Can't mind. All the best to both of them in the game. But right decisions made by the club it would seem so far...

The recent comments in the managers interviews about being ready for first team football physically, and mentally, all pointed at Adam methinks.

That's already what was reported in the tabloids. Also the same as what was reported for Turnbull. Plenty of scouts there but not one solid article on the internet from an in the know source. It's all fan sites and opinion sites. I wouldn't could to het up on Hastie leaving quite yet....he can certainly command a higher wage from us than he could in December due to his revent few performances and the fact Turnbull got a higher wage than originally planned too. Agent just doing what agents do

Frear has been a wee bit unlucky last two years in that the formation didn't suit him. However, he's also 28. So, for me, as a winger at that age, with a bit of a sketchy record, he moves on with our best wishes.

Hastie will sign. Bookmark this post.

Not classing myself as a geek here. But Soccerbase tells me: 6 league wins in a row 2013/2014 under McCall when we finished 2nd. Ross County, St Mirren, Aberdeen, Partick, St. Johnstone....and the 6th win... Hearts! Also the season Albion pumped us out the Scottish Cup first time of asking. Sound familiar?

Hastie, Scott and Maguire all offered new terms by the sounds of it on Robbos pre game interview. Part of the reason players went out the door in Jan.

2018/19 game 25: St Mirren (A) Wednesday 6th February

Same again to start. I'd like to see Livi on the bench (although it seems Robbo thinks he's not quite ready), Scott to get another run out and McCormack to get a longer run out too.... -
Either way, he's got a contract next year. So, it's kind of a moot point. Looking forward to seeing him back before season end, along with Cadden, then Tanner getting a good summer under his belt.

That's not the reality at all. Maybe in some people's heads...but not actually.

2018/19 Game 24: Livingston (H) Saturday 2nd February
superward replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Should do. I watched it via Chrome on my phone, while away, last weekend. -
He can definitely walk....but it will be a full year out come March this year. A long time out no matter what but, I think, feels even longer as we were originally expecting him back around September at worst and it's been a bit of unknown since then. First and foremost hopefully he gets sorted and gets the opportunity again to show what he showed in his debut season with us as he could be a good asset. However, needs to be given whatever time he needs including getting fit, match fit and then finding form. A long road yet....

As much as I was a Bigi fan, I'm also not overly bothered he's gone...which surprised me a little bit as I thought I would be! He was behind Turnbull in the attacking/creative midfield role. Even Gorrin os doing better than him I'd say. Came on to a game early season then slowly dropped off again. Lacks ability/focus to carry out the defensive side of the game for 90 mins each week. Bit of luxury to be honest unless the team is built around him...and I reiterate, I was a fan! Add I , I think he was one of the top earners(?), contract up in summer. All makes sense.

Interesting, as we must have said to Hearts we don't want him then and Hearts are trying to loan him elsewhere.
