  1. Here here.

Strange thing today was a guy who stands beside me at all the games and who spends most of his time moanin about Higgy turns round on 60 mins and says "we're missing the big man today" Ye just cannae win!!!

The Higdon haters will still hate Higdon, the Forbes haters will still hate Forbes.

We have won 2 home games on a trot, what happens if we lose the next 2?

Enjoy the good times when we have the good times and remember you can't change somebody's opinion.

    Only they can change it.

We are Motherwell, our fans are our fans. we all have different opinions.

    And the world keeps turning.

  2. No offence to anyone who has emailed Stewart Regan but I cannot believe he is replying to emails personally. Nor should he be. Football is an emotional game and passions run high which is clear from the opinions from folk on here tonight. Not that I disagree what anyone has said, I think the decision is a total joke but for the Chief Exec to risk getting into a public slanging match with supporters of any club is just asking for his credibility to be shot.

I actually think the compliance officer was a good idea in principle for ridding the game of diving, the shot across the bough provided by Aluko and Pawlett has seen a reduction in that in recent weeks. Granted I think the Pawlett one was harsh because although it wasn't a foul I don't see where he could have gone apart from down given the angle of the Hibs players on him. It punishes folk who have blatantly cheated and got their team an advantage.

Again, violent conduct like the Steven Naismith incident where the punishment would have been a red card being retrospectively looked at.

However the flaws are how it is communicated to said compliance officer. As well as the four officials there is also a referee's observer in the stands. ALl these incidents have been noticed in the stand and he should be the person saying to the compliance officer 'have a look at the incident between Craigan and Barrowman' or whatever. Orf alternatively you forget compliance officer and let these guys review the incident post match independently of the referee and report it to the SFA. That therefore means someone at the game decides what they want to relook at on TV.

But with the goal celebration and gesture issue, I can see why a point may want to be made but punishing the player more than a referee would is disproportionate. When you look at the two guys to be done for diving; they gained their team the opportunity to score the winning goal. They gained two points by cheating so a ban to me seems fair enough. If its spotted at the time the punishment is less because they haven't made a false gain so thats fair enough. But Griffiths and Higdon (even if we assume for a minute both are guilty) gained Hibs and Motherwell no advantage so to punish them more than they would do during the game just isn't rational.

    Well, I e-mailed StewartRegan@scottishfa.co.uk and got a reply from StewartRegan@scottishfa.co.uk

So who replied and said he was Stewart Regan if it wasn't Stewart Regan?

The SFA are so amatuerish they do not have the sense not to get in a public slanging match.

  3. To be perfectly honest if the compliance officer deems that gesture to be offensive he shouldn't be in the job, simple as that. Anyone who backs him up is also unfit to hold office in the administration of this game of 'ours' (Ours, hah that'll be fucking right) You surely must have a modicum of knowledge of the game to be employed within? Broadfoot, Looney Toons, Regan all clearly displaying symptoms of #notknowingverymuchatall

Here is the reply I got from Stewart Regan, this is the Chief Executive:

    Dear Mr Irving

Many thanks for your feedback. With the greatest respect the one point you haven't mentioned in your note below is the fact that the player, Michael Higdon, chose to make an offensive gesture after he scored his goal. It was not the raising of his arm, it was not the raising of both arms, it was the 'get it up you' gesture not dissimilar to the offence committed by Leigh Griffiths of Hibs recently.

As an organisation that is trying to promote positive behaviour we are not prepared to accept such behaviour. This is the matter that was considered by the panel and the reason for his suspension.

    Kind regards

    Stewart Regan

  4. What a joke, I am totally pissed off at this stupid ruling.

I have sent this e-mail to the sfa, lunny, regan and doncaster.

I won't hold my breath for a reply.

    "Good Afternoon,

Can you explain to me and the rest of the Motherwell supporters and, indeed, the vast majority of football fans in the country why Michael Higdon has received a 1 match ban?

The ruling states "Annex C, Offence A5: Offensive, Insulting or Abusive Language and/or Gestures".

He was celebrating after scoring a goal and raised his arm, who was offended, insulted or felt abused after his so called gesture?

Once again, one of the so called lesser teams are used as scapegoats for your nonsensical rules,

while the attendences are dwindling at such an alarming rate that within a few years nobody will attend games.

Instead of improving our game, these ludicrous rulings will make us even more of a laughing stock in world football.

In the meantime the Old Firm can continue with the jolly wee sing songs and your association does nothing".

    Gordon J. Irving

  5. I can see why we are not happy about our recent form, especially our performances at Fir Park.

However, when you look at the bigger picture, we have to be realistic.

We have a first team squad of about 20. Of the 20, how many have been used, how many would you use?

Randolph, a good keeper but not happy at a wee bit of abuse last week.

Hateley, good right back but not brilliant and not a midfielder.

Hammell, good left back and having a great season.

Craigan, solid experienced and his reading of the game is brilliant.

Hutchison, get this guy signed up long term, a great centre half and is learning all the time from Craggs.

Humphrey, (is that spelling OK)? has neen found out big time this season and is not first pick.

Daley, looks a wee bit better than Humphrey but, again, final ball?

Jennings, a solid centre mid, 100% every game.

Lasley, same as Jennings, except as well as being the housewives favourite, he would play for us in barefoot on burning coals.

Law, a great player but I am not convinced he is playing in his correct position or being held back.

Murphy, on his game, brilliant but is found wanting in the games when we really need him. Is he being played out of position?

Higdon, the much maligned centre forward, a big man who could and should score more goals but are we playing the right formation to get the best out of him?

Clancy, a good right back, not convincing in the centre.

Mc Hugh, scored the winner v Aberdeen then dropped, then an injury. Great confidence boost to be dropped after scoring the winner.

Page, is he going to get a run of games or is he not good enough?

    Forbes, see Page.

Carswell, can't get a run in the team, when a centre mid is out due to having Hateley centre mid with Clancy at right back.

Smith, is he good enough?, he's had no game time.(now away on loan).

Hollis, out injured but apart from the game at the piggery before the alleged cup final, when is he going to get a game?

Saunders, long term injury but will be good when he comes back and re-gains his old form.

Lawless, Halsman, Pollock and Howarth, are they going to get a chance?

You can see that, in my opinion, we have a limited but good squad. I do not think we are playing the correct formation, I prefer 4 - 4 - 2, with Higdon and Murphy up front.

I realise that we are 4th in the league with 2 games in hand but some of our performance, especially at home, have been woeful.

Mr McCall is doing fine but does need to get some tactical know how, 4 - 5 - 1 is OK against Barcelona but, come on, against the Old firm? Results show it does not work. Stop respecting that pair of scummy shite and get ripped right into them.

We also need to start to give the youngsters a chance we are never going to find out how good they are without game time.

We also have only won anything in our history with a long term manager in charge, Hunter, Stevenston and McLean.

  6. How many other clubs have had their players arguing with fans in the crowd, and a player even trying to get into the stand to confront a fan? We've also had players asking fans of their own club to lay off their top goalscorer!

We may not be the very worst, but we're certainly not far off it. Listening to the shite from the East stand I maybe understand why we play better away from home.

Did you not see Leigh Griffiths of Hibs after scoring against Cowdenbeath?

He was giving his own fans dogs abuse and gestured to them.

He has been banned for this.

I hear the shite in the Cooper stand as well and while I do not condone it I can understand fans being frustrated by our performances.

Of course we should all be supporting the team but one home league win in nine is rubbish and McCall and the players need to get this sorted and quickly.

As soon as we start winning again then the abuse will, hopefully, stop.

  7. Can't remember having any personal dealings with him apart from occasionally bumping into him around the club it's amazing to think that from the season I started to regularly attend Motherwell matches (1986) to this weekend, Bill Dickie was there behind the scenes (and sometimes in front of the scenes!) working away for the club. That's an incredible period of service for the club.

I think when I remember Bill Dickie it will be in the aftermath of the Scottish Cup win and how pleased he was to win the trophy, he obviously enjoyed it as much as any player or fan.

This legacy will be the history of the club over the last 30 years. From being a lower division team to achieving promotion and staying there, winning the Scottish Cup, qualifying for European football for the first time in our history, finishing 2nd and 3rd in the league on a number of occasions - I'm sure his name will be always linked to a 'golden era' in the history of Motherwell.

I can remember waiting for my ticket for the 1991 Cup Final and the tickets were being sold from a wee window to the side of the main entrance of the main stand.

(No ticket office in those days). There were thousands waiting to get tickets and when I got to the front there was Bill Dickie, the Chairman, selling the Cup Final tickets, he must have been there for hours.

When I travelled to Denmark for the Odense game as I was having a breakfast beer, Bill spotted the me,with my Well top and kilt on, and came over for a chat.

He was certainly a true Well fan and always stopped for a blether about the Well.

His enthusiasm will be missed, I hope his family and friends can find comfort at this time.

He'll be going to Well heaven alongside Davie Cooper, Phil O'Donnell, Jamie Dolan and Paul McGrillen and every other Well fan or player who has passed away.

  8. Born in Newarthill, brought up in Holytown, went to Holytown Primary then Bellshill Academy.

The majority at both schools were rangers fans and the slagging I got was constant, I grew up despising them and my feelings have deepened since then.

Thats why I hate the h**s without bus fare shite from the other scum.

I moved to Chapelhall, (don't ask), then I moved to Muirhouse where I can see the South Stand from my bedroom window.

    The Fir Park Terracing

From the slopes of the Fir Park terracing

    onto it's playing fields so green;

    There's eleven stalwart warriors,

    the best you've ever seen.

Tho' they may not be league champions

    Or not even runner's up

    They have humbled mighty Sassenachs

    in the old Texaco Cup.

    For they halted Stoke's endeavour,

    in a hard and bitter fight;

Then they thrashed the Spurs of Tottenham,

    on a cold November night;

    So applaud those gallant warriors

    with a loud triumphant yell;

    And always speak in reverance,

    on the mighty Motherwell.

Then bring on Wolves or Derry

    As it matters not at all;

For the answer to each one of them,

has the writing on the wall.

    And we the staunch supporters,

    are always proud to tell;

    Of the wonderful achievements of

    the mighty Motherwell.

    Up The 'Well

We're the boys from the 'Well

    And We're doing very well

You will find us at Fir Park

    The home of foo-ootball

Of the Steelmen we are proud

Shout their praises long and loud

We will follow them wherever they may go

    Chorus:

Up the 'Well we will shout

As the Gers and Celts we rout

We've the spirit and the skill

    To set them reeling

    Claret & Amber colours true,

Far ahead of green & blue

    They'll remember Motherwell

    For many a day

Frae the tap o' the toon

Tae the Cross and further doon,

You can hear the roar that greets

    You through the tunnel

Then the ref his whistle blows,

And the more he volume grows,

As we hail the Scottish team

    That beats them all.

    (Chorus)

You may travel far and wide,

Watch the Thistle or the Clyde,

    Or the Hearts and Hibs

    At Easter Road in combat,

But we'd cross both sea and surf,

just to view the Fir Park turf,

    Or to cheer the Steelmen

    :yahoo:

  12. I was siiting a few rows behind all of this so will add what I saw for what it's worth.

The main problem is that standing at the ground is against the rules and we all know that that's the case. When you buy a ticket for the game you thereby agree to abide by the rules. The people I saw being ejected from the ground were asked/told by the stewards and then subsequently the police to sit down on a number of occasions before the "heavy handed" tactics were employed. If you are looking at a police officer who is telling you to do something repeatedly and you don't then there's only going to be one outcome I'm afraid.

That said the behavior of some of the stewards was certainly a bit OTT and it does raise serious questions over whether people who are most probably doing this as a Saturday job for some extra cash have been trained or have sufficient skills to deal with these types of situations. I would much rather that the games were "policed " by Police who have the experience to know when and when not to take any action.

The fact that the Aberdeen fans who were stading and not confronted may have been because the were standing at the back of the stand and not necessitating other seated people to move to get a decent viewof the game. As for the old firm fans standing and nothing being done that is also not right but two wrongs don't make a right as the saying goes.

I think the vast majority of the "singing section" have been superb this year and the atmosphere at e.g. Dunfermilne and Inverness has been fantastic but it has to be tempered by behaving in a way that is deemed to be suitable by the officials at any given away ground.

I would absolutely support the inclusion of standing sections at all grounds so that those who wish to stand can and those who wish to sit can and hopefully that will keep everyone happy.

You state, "The main problem is that standing at the ground is against the rules and we all know that that's the case. When you buy a ticket for the game you thereby agree to abide by the rules".

You then state, "As for the old firm fans standing and nothing being done that is also not right but two wrongs don't make a right as the saying goes".

We have at most, 1 - 200 fans standing, they have 4 - 5,000 fans standing, the more people standing the bigger the hazard, therefore the greater the risk of an incident / accident occurring.

Also, to make matters worse, from the health and safety point of view, the cellik hordes are now copying Man City and doing that ridiculous thing where they turn with backs to the game and start jumping up and down. How dangerous is that?

What is done or said to the old firm fans? NOTHING.

The Old Firm standing at games is an issue that must be raised, especially if our fans continue to be treated like this.

It is cowardice by stewards and police to say nothing to them but pick on the supporters like ours who were ejected yesterday.

Why don't the police tell old firm fans to sit down? Can anybody tell me that.

Where is the Health and Safety rules, Taylor report guidelines or law then?

Or is it just because there are more of them and the stewards and police are shitebags?

One rule for them and one for us.

It is time to boycott away games until this shite stops.

  13. Joe Wark by mile for me. Tough but fair. I never remember him being sent off and very few bookings either. I think he played for the Scottish League select but never a full cap. One of lifes gentlemen.

I am sure he was capped for the Scottish League v English League and was typically brilliant.

He was only kept out of the Scotland team by the celtic right back Danny McGrain being played at left back as rangers' Sandy Jardine was right back, (and that is not cellic-esque paranoia, that is true).

Don't even mention Willie Donnachie!!! :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

I think he was only booked once or twice throughout his career and one of them was when jock wallace played him as a sweeper.

After the CIS Final in 2005 we got back to the Fir Park Club after the game, pissed off, depressed and dejected.

As we were going in, who was standing at the door, none other than my all time hero, Joe Wark, I asked him to come in for a drink, he said he was going somewhere but he would come in for one.

An hour later and after listening to me going on about how good he was, (how much I loved him and much more drunken man love sentiments). He made his apologies and left.

He is a gentleman and a true Motherwell Legend. :notworthy:

P.S. Hammy is getting there if he keeps playing the way he does.

  14. Hammell is a great left back and this season I think he is consistently doing the business, Nicky Law has helped him.

Rab McKinnon was a different type of player but was solid.

Tom Boyd was an average player until we signed Davie Cooper.

I have never seen such a transformation in a player in Tom Boyd.

He used to bomb down the wing to support Davie Cooper as did Phil, I believe Davie made both of them better players.

Luc Nijholt was a right back was he not? He was, however, one of the most talented players I have ever seen.

The question is though, "Hammell, is he the best ever?

For you youngsters, yes, but for us guys of a certain age there is only one defender who was absolutely brilliant in just about

every game that I went to, (pretty much every game in the 70's).and that was JOE WARK, my absolute hero. :notworthy: :notworthy:

I honestly never, ever, saw him having a bad game.

The club will endeavour to provide a safe, trouble free environment for all spectators and provide a quality service through our turnstile staff, catering outlets, stewards, and all other staff employed on match days.

In return, the club expects spectators to refrain from using foul and abusive language, taunts or gestures of a racist or obscene nature and to inform members of the security staff regarding anyone engaging in such activity.

For security and safety reasons, under the terms of our Ground Regulations, standing is forbidden in seated viewing areas, whilst the match is under way. The club is obliged to advise any spectators in breach of this requirement to desist and failure to comply with this request may result in the person, or persons, being removed from the ground.

From what i and the other well fans around me had to put up with last Sunday the club is failing to uphold this charter miserably.

    1. no access to toilets or catering,

    2. Standing Celtic fans ignoring the stewards ( they eventually sat down to be fair)

    3. Bigoted, sectarian, foul language, taunts and gestures, yes they were all coming from the Celtic support

The club needs to sort this out before the next ugly sisters visit to FP, the POD is not designed for segregation, when the south stand was built the club stated it was for away fans only, thats all they should get. Its time the club started to treat its owm supporters fairly instead of chasing every penny from the old firm arseholes.

So, what that tells us is our very own club only cares abot the money from the mutants..

At one of the home games earlier in the season, (can't remember which one), I was told to get back in my seat by a steward because I jumped into the stairs beside my seat...........AFTER WE HAD SCORED A GOAL.

He stated that it was a health and safety issue.

I was not standing in seated viewing areas I was standing, temporarily, whilst cheering a goal from my team.

Fair enough if there was some consistency, however, 3rd paragraph of the fans charter states:

For security and safety reasons, under the terms of our Ground Regulations, standing is forbidden in seated viewing areas, whilst the match is under way. The club is obliged to advise any spectators in breach of this requirement to desist and failure to comply with this request may result in the person, or persons, being removed from the ground.

Both sides of the POD and the entire South stand were standing.

What was done? Hee haw, not even a message through the tannoy.

Before anybody starts on about there were too many of them, the police can't throw them all out.

    1. Send a message to Celtic and Rangers stating that standing will not be permitted during the match and if it happens, they will be thrown out. Tannoy message at the start and during the game. The police to pick one or two at a time, (usually the smallest) and throw them out and arrest them.

They'll soon get the message. Again, I repeat, we need to look after our own.

  16. Or we could of course just say to the Old Firm.."You're getting the South Stand and that's it, like it or fucking lump it"

    That's what I would do.:yahoo:

Charge them 30 quid a skull as well. No concessions either.

We have been talking about the subject of giving them the Cooper, not giving them the Cooper.

Giving them the POD, not giving them the POD.

(While we're on the subject, who was it who told a bare faced lie that the reason they got the Cooper was that opposition fans cannot share a stand)?????????????????????????????????

We should be looking after our own, full stop.

Get them out of the Phil O'Donnell, don't give them the Cooper or the East if it inconveniences a Well fan in any way, shape or form. Why should we move?

As Kirky SuperSub says, .."You're getting the South Stand and that's it, like it or fucking lump it"

We will miss out on how much money, eg (£25, X, 1,600 = £40,000).

It is a lot of money to lose, however, who do you want as a customer, 1,600 badly behaved arrogant, obnoxious, self righteous, foul mouthed bigots (counting the other tits as well), 2 - 4 times a season, (and that is only when they all turn up).

Or 4 - 4,500 hardy loyal fans who will be there no matter what. (at least 18 times a season, 4 times that when we get to a cup final of course)

We cannot alienate our loyal fans anymore, these are the same people who have ploughed hundreds if not thousands of pounds into the club throughout the years.

Our ground lay out does not lend itself to proper segregation.

We put them in the South, (the away stand), then we just make do with the income we get, it's called good housekeeping.

I will also leave whenever I want, full stop.

  17. It won't be popular but the sensible thing to do is give them the Cooper back. It's the lesser of two evils IMO and its sat half empty in most OF games anyway.

    Not this old chestnut again!!!!

What is the other evil of which you speak?

What stand do you sit in?

We are not giving them The Cooper, it wasn't half empty yesterday, if anything it was three quarters full.

I and all the other Cooper season ticket holders have been through this shite before and we gave the answer.

    NO WAY!!!!!!

P.S. I left early yesterday as we were 2 - 1 down, we just had a man sent off, there was 3 minutes to go and I didn't want to walk through the most arrogant bunch of manky b*stards in the world with my 7 year old daughter.

I hope that is O.K.,I'm really, really, sorry and won't do it again.

If we would keep the scum in (the other c*nts as well) for 10 minutes after the game then we wouldn't have as much of a problem.

  18. Were those two games bounce games that the fans got into for free or were they supposed to be competitve football matches?

This is a good e-mail but I still don't like the approach he is taking to OF games. Nobody expects Motherwell to win the league but surely there must be an expectation that we can compete against this mob in one off games?

We have played nine, won five, drawn one and lost three. It is to easy to simply discount the games against the OF and if he wants to discount thse games then let us in for free.

This apart a good read and an insight into how the pro's think about tactics.

That is my opinion as well.

Yes, we are 3rd, we are beating the teams around us and I like Stuart McCall as our manager, however I hate his patter and tactics when we play either of those b8stards.

The Motherwell I love do not lie down to anyone, I don't care if the mould firm players get 2,3,4 or 5 times the wages our players get.

The mindset must be, OK, we are expected to be beaten, we have nothing to lose, let's play our game, let them worry about us.

3 points are 3 points. Whether it is against Inverness, Dunfermline, Rangers or Celtic.

Basically what he is saying, we discount these game against the bigots, that is 24 points down the swanee before a ball is kicked.

As I said in a previous post, will we get refunds on our season tickets for the games against them if they are to be discounted?

    Didn't think so.

The hammerings we get off rangers are embarrassing and the games against celtic are going the same way, (apart from last February obviously).

Don't get me started on that cup final.

Report card says, well done Stu so far, but against the evil bigots, MUST DO BETTER.
