  1. I can't remember the missed sitter at Stranraer but the game in general was fairly forgettable. I do remember a couple of fresh air shots and sclaffs when he should have done better at Fir Park. Fancy flicks but no end product unfortunately. And I'll have to look up my parents' loft to see if the old subbuteo set's still there. Don't know what state the pitch will be in.
  2. Watching him at half time, he had a lot of fancy tricks but they weren't for going past players - they were all to get the ball to his right foot as he refused to kick it with his left. I've got a thing about one footed players (unless they've got enough with their good foot to make up for it) so that annoyed me. He got so few games as we always had better options - so he had to go.
  3. If we did own it the banks would see the ground and land as an asset. They wouldn't care if we needed to find an alternative after they forced us to sell it. Edit: I was obviously typing my reply while Al B was posting the same comment.
  4. The discussion last night between Al B and Finlay was the most sensible and reasonable debate I've read on this forum in a long time - cheers guys. There's no doubt Sutton improved in his time with us so hopefully Higdon will also be helped to work on his game.
  5. Yeah, I had to restrain myself from commenting on that one but I will bite on the O'Brien remarks. When he was on form almost all of our creative play came through him. Out of our wage structure now though.
  6. In these days when all footballers are seen as mercenaries it's a nice change to see a player elect to sign for the team he supports. I'm sure Thompson could have got better wages elsewhere.
  7. Not sure Ruby would be a good addition! Elroy Kromheer? Surely it must be Gunning - I'd be happy enough with that.
  8. Sounds as though he'll probably be heading north then! What is McCall basing his thoughts on? He's going to say stuff like that to the press whether he means it or not. All Aberdeen have to do is offer him a load more cash and he'll be off.
  9. The Cup game a few years ago showed that there is very little appetite in the town of Airdrie for their local football club nowadays. I think most of that went when Airdrieonians ceased to exist. Similarly, Accies lost a lot of support when they went on their travels. Sadly, our local derbies will never be the same again.
  10. How early did you have to be there for it to be sunny?
  11. But did you dress the corpse in a Motherwell strip and take pictures of it in front of Celtic Park?
  12. You're doing better than me if you can still fit into a 20 year old top. I'm not in the same condition I was when I was 20!
  13. Ah - the memories. I might have to dust down and wind up the old video recorder tonight. Boyd wasn't the only one who never played for us again. Maxwell and Paterson didn't and I don't think O'Neil did either. Didn't mean any of them didn't give everything in the final.

    Hampden Park

No idea how true it is, but I was told a long time ago that Rangers made a financial contribution to the construction of the roof at the 'Rangers end' which was why it was built and the other end wasn't.

    Europa League

I prefer to look on it as resting our players for the cup final, possibly all of them if needs be.
  16. I was in Arnold Clark in Jordanhill a few months ago and the Service Manager was the one and only Crawford Baptie!

    Ins & Outs

I don't think anyone could grudge him a return to Thistle as player/manager. I see Hearts are saying they're looking for a big striker to back up the eternally injured Kyle. Could a move for Sutton be on the horizon?
  18. They might not be on the SPL website but they're on the BBC website with direct quotes from Iain Blair so the Beeb must have got them from somewhere.
  19. Sorry, I didn't see this as I went on a week's holiday on the Saturday morning. I assume it's too late now for the BBC website but thanks anyway.
  20. I wasn't able to tune (and only just made kick-off) due to other commitments but had assumed it would be on the website as a download - especially seeing as they seem to put any old rubbish up. Hopefully Sydney can put in a good word or they will repeat some of them on Saturday's Off The Ball.

    Hampden

I've got a funny feeling Motherwell wouldn't have been pushing for reduced ticket prices either seeing as the gate receipts get pooled and we get a quarter of the money from each and every one of those Celtic and Aberdeen fans (as they do with our money but there's a hell of a lot more of them. Considering the likely attendance I don't know why they couldn't have just put everyone in the South Stand ( with the family section on the fringes and one of the sections allocated to the singing section). It's going to look empty anyway - just let the South Stand cameras concentrate on the pitch and use the track-side cameramen for crowd shots.
  22. Apart from the actual game, my lasting memory is of the whole town being decked out in claret and amber with displays in shop windows, flags on lamp-posts and going to Fir Park in the morning to get my face painted. I lived in Hamilton and even knew a good few Accies supporters who got involved, went to the game and celebrated like the rest of us as the whole area got behind the club.
  23. Any time we've known who awaits us if we get through a cup tie we've fallen flat on our face in the replay. Let's hope we can change that this time - we certainly know they're beatable.
  24. I didn't think you were allowed to say that on here. Did you not know Craigan's at fault for everything?
