  1. Maybe if SODs has the shits for the rest of the season.
  2. We need to run the rule over another goal ace before the window slams shut.
  3. I like when we slap in offers. We should slap in more offers.
  4. Midfield is our biggest problem by a mile, and has been for a long time, and we have signed Slattery and a guy who the manager said is shite in the announcement. Donnelly was good when he had Campbell/Gorrin/polworth/turnbull around him, and he got us a bunch of important goals from set pieces when we had someone who could take them. However, we can't have him and another passenger in there protecting a defence that needs a lot of protection. Maguire is improving, but he isn't a top level starter unless we have someone very good in there to talk him through games, and we don't. He should not be anywhere near set pieces either. O'Hara and Crawford are handy backup players, with the former being a decent bench option in certain occasions. The talk a couple of weeks ago was that we still had 3 or 4 to come in, although that seemed to soften last week. If we are going to stick with the tactics we are deploying, we need a defender who isn't hopeless on the ball, a midfielder who is willing and capable of taking the ball off said defender, and at least one player who can put in a half decent free kick or corner. I think we are probably stuck with the attackers we have. As always, we are one signing or result away from optimism, but things can go the other way pretty quickly too.
  5. We let brown go about 3 years ago and he is only now getting anyone's attention. We can't keep everyone forever. Our support has its fair share of weapons too.
  6. I like 433, but we don't have the squad to play it. I also like passing it out from the back, but we face the same limitations there. Short corners are fine if you have the players to execute. If we're in the process of bringing in players that suit these things, then great. But we can't shoehorn the current squad into that. Punting on the early games is a huge risk.
  7. We are not good. Opposition really could just give us as much of the ball as we want. We just didn't look like the game mattered.
  8. Been a pretty tame game so far. Dundee have had some dangerous balls across the box to no one, and about 50 corners, but we've had the best chance with shields trying to murder the ball and missing from around the penalty spot. We only look dangerous when Lawless and Slattery are on the ball, as they aren't just punting it every time they have it. It feels like we're not setting ourselves up to take advantage of woolery's pace and being able to body everyone. Ojala has been fine, and it's nice to see grimshaw again, hopefully he does a line to line horizontal dribble for old times sake.
  9. Dundee are streaming it for international folk if you want to pay for the privilege.
  10. Van veen and o'donnell not even in the squad. Can only assume it's injury related. The same with Watt being on the bench
  11. I don't get it. These are getting harder.
  12. I thought Lamie and Mugabi were fine. The latter was causing havoc in their box at set pieces as well. The problem with them is that they're both going to cost us with absolute howlers a couple of times a season, but overall they're steady enough. The way we play exposes our full backs. There's no protection from the midfield and we also expect both to be an attacking threat. I don't think odonnell or Carroll are nearly as bad as being made out. The latter assisted both of our goals last week. There's no way we're signing replacements, so get used to who we have.
  13. That was a good point considering we still look like we're in pre season mode. Slattery came into the game more and started to show flashes, and the move for the goal was excellent. Having someone who could make an impact off the bench was nice. Shields looks like he's got a way to go to get up to sharpness, he never got into the game, but his pace and power will go a long way. Donnelly is miles away, hopefully he can get back the yard he's missing. Overall, we got more value out of the little possession we had, and made plenty of decent chances. If only Watt had buried that chance.
  14. They were just strolling through our attempts at a press like we weren't there, and our guys look like they're running on quicksand. Things looked promising early on with a couple of chances, including a good save from Clark, but we've fallen right out of the game. Their goal was a good cross, but we needed to deal with that.
  15. Yep. At this point the treble is still 100% in our hands, and will be for at least another week.
  16. We would have been daft not to take the loan on those terms.
  17. It was a small sample size with us, but he gelled well with Watt and Cole and didn't have a bad game, I'd definitely have him at motherwell if we could get him (can't believe I'm saying that after his completely underwhelming announcement in January). The only issue I'd see is that he'd be one of 6 players competing for that front 3, so he could end up not getting the minutes he's after.
  18. I'd expect them to rest Murray Davidson. Thats a couple of weeks without an injury, so he's due one.
  19. Checked the lyrics, I knew "come on eileen" and "to-rye-ay". I prefer their song about darts anyway.
  20. Works better than what I had in my head, which was just repeating his name to the tune.
  21. I vote for this. Let's hope this isn't a Jan Michels or Davide Fererre style debut. I'm confident it isn't, but i have been burned before.
  22. Van Veen had an excellent league debut, and was definitely the standout. I would have been happy to just to see the ball stick with a striker instead of a 10 yard first touch, but he worked hard and brought others into play, and it was great to see him finally get off the mark. He's going to get at least one red card this season, but we need a couple of absolute bastards in the team. Carrol deserves a mention for the assists, as well as kicking Boyle around, he definitely offers more bite than McGinley, but can be reckless. Maguire also had a good game with his midfield partners still getting up to full fitness. Shame he couldn't make anything out of that chance from the edge of the box at the end.
  23. We could have done with a bit of luck, the first two hibs goals just fell right for them. The penalty was a dumb one to concede. We seem to go out of our way not to concede penalties, but still somehow concede a bunch of them. It was also at a time when things were going end to end and I thought we might get something on the break. It's a real shame woolery couldn't convert that chance, it was as clear a chance as he's going to get. Overall we played pretty well against a good side, with some encouraging signs considering we still have some recruiting to do and a couple of guys getting up to speed.
  24. Cool, I can watch beavis and butthead at half time.
