  1. Pre-season friendlies are pish and a waste of time and money. Don't think these early qualifying rounds will be any different if we get there.

They will be though. When we played Preston, Wolves, and Bradford last year there was NOTHING at the end of it. Ninety minute matches played at an easy pace with the only highlight seeing how trialists perform. This year each game won leads us closer to the Europa League. If that doesn't put the bite in these 'friendlies' for the club, players, and fans then I'm afraid nothing will.

I don't care how we get into Europe. If we don't get this place, personally I will be very disappointed. I want to see the Well In Europe......and that is EXACTLY what it is. Who knows when, and if, we will ever get there again.

  2. The speculation on this board at the mo is incredible. Certainly has made the pre season kick off with a bang......even though the season is not officially over.

However, Rangers and Falkirk have both qualified for Europe so the cup final is immaterial. The winners of the Fair Play place are in very early........so SFA, SPL, UEFA........whoever totals up these unknown points get the finger out and make the announcement.

  3. I'm sure anyone can back it up  Number 17 in the away team, i scored from a tight angle at the south stand end right into the roof of the net!

Someone say they seen it? :D

I can corroborate this claim. In fact I was about two feet away when you pinged it in.

That was a cracking idea about getting it filmed. Shame it never happened. Maybe next year :D

The photographs on the official site are belters.

Incidentally there was a guy in the away team (sorry I don't know his name) with a ponytail wearing a knee brace during the match. He took a lot of pictures. Anyone seen them? He took one of me standing at the 'interview board' in the tunnel and it would be nice to get a copy.

  4. I just can't believe MM would want Sheridan for another year. I'm sorry but apart from a very well taken goal against Inverness and a good display against Accies last week he has been minging. His second touch more often than not is preceeded by a sprint!

I'd rather take a chance and plunder League One for a striker than have him back for a year.

  5. I personally heard Ian Stillie quote £200,000 as the price to replace the system. If that IS the case you can see why they won't do it. I'd rather invest that money elsewhere and have a better on the park product and a crap P.A. system than a cracking P.A. system and utter dross on the grass................like St. Mirren.

  6. I STRONGLY doubt McGhee will go to Celtic. McGhee would LOVE that chance but he is not the big name the fans would want. Mowbray, Coyle (if Burnley go up) or even a return by O'Neill.....but not MM.

As for Aberdeen......I just can't see him going. Possibly being naive but I don't think it is a big enough jump up for him. Celtic/Rangers/Premiership side or a good healthy Championship side with prospects are his goal.

In saying that if I'm wrong and he does go with all repect I hope Leitchy doesn't step up. Neither would I want Lambert, Butcher, Calderwood, or Yogi Hughes (who I did want this time last year If our gaffer went to Hearts).

I wanted Coyle as the manager two years ago but we have no chance of that now obviously.

Who would we get? Sadly I don't know......but McGhee came out of the woodwork two years ago and that worked well.

Either way we would continue on.

  7. Got the no. 13 training top 'cause it was the only XL i could find. Everyone else seemed to know the squad number they were after; then got home and found out Klimpl is no. 13- well chuffed :D . Also another Bukta and under armour top all for 15 quid.

Thank you Ale and MFC for a great idea!

Quite happy with a few of my purchases. Flow or Alan will maybe need to keep us right here but the players must have a couple of sets of training gear each to accomodate sponsors and the sale that went on today. I was in the door sharpish.....my timing was spot on and managed to get Klimpl and Clarkson's full training kit and Clarkson's three quarter length training trousers. At the end I noticed Buzz and Gunnar's UEFA Cup shorts in a box so got them too.

Got a bit of the turf too so now need to figure out what to do with it

I'd like to thank Alan for inviting me in to the kit room for a look about. Some of the shirts and memorabilia he has collected is fantastic. Some of the items in there are priceless (Stephen Hughes Uncle Phil signature strip from 2007/2008 for example) and were great to see. Quite simply the best office I have ever seen in my life!!! Thanks again.

  8. I just thought Quinn deserves criticism for a needless yellow. There's one thing in caring about what happens on the field of play, his just looked to me like he lost the rag in his personal battle with Taouill. Nothing to do with anythig other than that, or so it seemed. It was a stupid, pointless yellow card to concede and irrespective of who gained it, the fact remains it was stupid. I wouldn't have cared if it had been David Clarkson, Kilmpl or Quinn who was booked. It simply shouldn't have happened.

    Spot on.

  9. Apart from a mega deflating 90th minute winner from Taouil today the other score to look out for was Well 1 St Mirren 1 on bookings. Quinn's yellow was one of THE most pointless at the best of times but today was just unbelievable.

Sometimes, I think he has a wee wire loose in his nut <_>

Hopefully with the good behaviour by the well fans, lots of possession by the guys on the park and in general a healthy display (overall) disciplinary wise it should just be enough to see us get that Fair Play place.

  10. A wee bit disapointed that after the four previews (over how long...two months?) it is another NINE days before we get a look at the strip. Take for example Killie today. They were WEARING next seasons strip. I presume that is due to the fact the kit they have been playing in all season has been handed to the individual sponsors (another issue) and it is a handy way of getting some money in the bank (and knowing how much they have rather than speculating) for next season.

Small groan aside the strip looks a cracker. Band/Hoop I'm not too fussed about to be honest. For me, the strip they had this year was one of the best visually. The problem was quality. They were just too many flaws on a majority of the garments such as lopsided badges, very poor stitching, and I even heard about the occasional upside down JAXX logos (myself included), and so on. Which was a shame. With Canterbury I'm expecting quality....something we never got from Bukta this year.

Anyway.......did anyone else think preview four was more of ahem a drawing than an actual top. The band looked slghtly wonky. I don't think the top exists yet <_ src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/default_smile3.gif" alt=":)">

  11. A special mention to Ferguson at full back in the home team defence who was excellent and also to Welldaft Mk1 who was quality and took his goal really well. And to be on the same pitch as Stevie Kirk was a dream come true.

Cheers mate, but I was just following your lead. Some of your tackles, in and around the box were first rate!!! I'd have you on the bench before Bob Malcolm :rolleyes:

  12. Not sure where he plays in the reserves. I did think though he was a centre half. If not given time......the boy has promise. I also think Slane looks a handy wee player and McHugh has been rattling them in for the under 19s and reserves. Future looks bright.

  13. It was an excellent experience played in the right atmosphere with a few cracking goals to boot.

When was the last time the home team scored 8 at Fir Park??

Being able to say that I:

Scored a goal at Fir park

Set up Stevie kirk to score a goal at Fir park or

Had a shower with Stevie Kirk at Fir Park :O

A special mention for log in to learn and ChasserB for making it all possible and also for Mortonhall Well for being my Man of the match with his Kaiserlike performance in defence.

8? Make that 9!! 9-4 win to the 'home' side.........and when is the last time you can say the 'away' team scored 4 times at Fir Park and LOST.

I'd just like to echo the comments above. I'm just in the house (out for dinner after the game.....slightly spoiled by the good sandwiches right enough  ) and the pain I will feel is most definatley in the post. I'd happily do that EVERY Friday night though.

Just walking in to the away dressing room and seeing a Motherwell top hanging on the peg with my name on the back was a thrill in itself. Playing out in the park I have watched my team play on for YEARS.....that is another thing. Having the pleasure of playing in the same side as Stevie Kirk.......again fantastic. Having said Kirkie half inch most of my lynx shower gel........

Thanks to the logintolearn guys, Motherwell FC, and the guys and gals playing for a fantastic night!!!! :D

Some of the quality out there was rather impressive indeed!

Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Finlay aka 'Number 2 Motherwell Home Team'.

  14. For those that didn't see the preview (hopefully someone more gifted can post an image  ) today it was as expected......the collar. Pretty much the same style as the current Scotland and Dalziel rugby tops. The Canterbury logo is very close to the neck and 'The Steelmen' is printed a couple of times in the inside of the collar.

  15. A play for FPC and am playing in the game mate.

I hope there's rolling subs mate and some folk in the away team don't wanna play the whole game, i have to start on the bench because i was last in.

Knowing ma luck the away team will be fit as fuk and I'll get 5 mins at the end lol.

I asked for the whole match too so in all likelihood when you come on mate you will be up against me as I'm in defence for the home side. Nae 'megging alright!!!!! It is good memories of the night I'm wanting!! :P:P
