  1. That too but he was on the scrapheap before he came to us and it just proves that if a player finds the right club he can turn his career around. I don't actually think we need a striker but if he came to Motherwell he would come with a clean slate in my eyes because all I care about is what he would do in a Motherwell top.

That attitude will never catch on....

Pre-judge the guy before he's even kicked a ball for us, refuse to budge from that opinion if the guy actually puts in some decent performances and if he ends up being top scorer berate him even more and maintain that you are still right. 8)

    It's the Fir Park way.

  2. It also transfers to any NewCo, so if they do start up a new company they can't sign any players, apart from those out of contract or under 18.

Is it not the registration of players they are banned from - except those already registered (so a new contract) or Under 18s?

So, they can't even sign out of contract players?

  3. Surely the referee must have seen Scott Vernon's reaction to the incident? He clearly runs away fully expecting a goal kick to be awarded. The Motherwell players reaction wasn't that of players who had seen a 50/50 call given against them, they were incredulous that such a glaring error had been made. How often in these situations do you see the referee award a free kick for nothing to avoid a goal being scored? Andrew Considine had 2 hands on Clancy when he headered the ball so Thomson had an easy chance to get out of it, but he's such an arrogant prick he won't admit to any errors.

It's a valid point that we had a chance to defend the corner, but the bottom line is that Darren Randolph should have been taking a goal kick instead of trying to organise a defence full of players furious at an error that has given Aberdeen a dangerous set piece.

Ivan Sproule criticised him for a decision given against Hibs - which was later proven to have been incorrect - and his response was to publicly criticise Ivan Sproule for not qualifying for the Euros? Arrogant prick. Ivan Sproule was suspended for it as well I'm sure. McCall will no doubt also now face sanctions for pointing out a glaring error.

Add in Clarky's inability to see out of his eye due to blood streaming into it, and Thomson deeming this not to be a head knock and Hearts scoring seconds later, he has previous!

  4. i think our club should take Celtic's approach, i.e. get some lawyer to kick their arse.

Mr Broadfoot stated on Twitter last night that the reason that the clubs are being hammered this season is because of the intervention of lawyers last season.

So, in short, Celtic get a lawyer onto them and they are shit scared to touch Celtic this season but will hammer every other club to get their revenge.

He couldn't answer my question about Higdon's gesture being completely ignored whenever Craigan does it though....

In reference to the disciplinary hearings after the Lennon and McCoist incident he said; "Disgraceful. Disciplinary committe bullied by QCs, hence changes at AGM".

  5. Every time he scores - in the right end - or Motherwell win, Stephen Craigan makes this gesture... is he now liable to face sanctions regularly?

For me, the Leigh Griffiths gestures are a bit more sinister as he seems to put some consideration into all 3 of his offences, while Higgy's looked more spontaneous.

As for only seeing the images on here, well they were linked from SNS who are a web based source for pictures so again, it was common knowledge before being mentioned on here.

  6. Rule 200: No player shall commit offences in the Schedule of Offences in Annex C. (Such offences may be dealt with by a Fast Track Tribunal following a Compliance Officer Reference under the Judicial Panel Protocol).

Annex C, Offence A5: Offensive, Insulting or Abusive Language and/or Gestures.

Might be worth deleting the images pretty sharpish.

If you have access to delete the images from the BBC Website or Sky Sports News then on you go.

The "story" is very much in the public eye regardless of a couple of photos on here.

  7. I've said it before already, and I'll say it again, Higdon should have reserved his show of defiance for the fuckwits who heckle him at Fir Park.

The travelling support usually gets behind the players, and they pay good fucking money to go to places like Dundee and get treated like cattle by the stewards there.

Bad form for Higdon to choose the away support for his gesture.

He reacted to abuse he was receiving on Saturday, at the away game.

It has been commented on elsewhere that there were a number of folk at Tannadice who were very vocal in their abuse of him.

While not disputing that the away support do tend to be more supportive, he has a

obviously reacted to something specific to Saturday's game. His last goal at Fir Park he celebrated with the fans, so the abuse he receives there doesn't seem to bother him that much.

If he is banned for this next game, perhaps his "fan club" will realise what he actually brings to the team though.

  8. A negative rep for advocating supporting the players... that figures.

As for Higdon, minds were made up long before he even kicked a ball for us and with almost every players these minds will not review their opinion regardless of performances and goals scored.

And I am convinced that some of the players are wary of trying anything for fear of the abuse that will pour down from the stands - see the Randolph thread for some of the shouts.

You'd think we were rock bottom of the table jugding by the reaction to the defeat on Saturday - yes, the form hasn't been great but the SPL table has us sitting 4th for a reason, we have performed well on enough occasions to merit it.

  9. I think Randolph's reaction was a tad OTT, in that he shouldn't have even entertained the prospect of entering the stand at all to confront the fan. However, in his defence there are a few factors that led him to it.

The fan in question had been handing out some quite personal abuse to most of the Motherwell players and management throughout the match, and indeed does so most weeks. Referring to your own players as a "dick" "muppet" "arsehole", often preceded with "get tae fuck ye" as well is something I just don't understand. He had been subjected to almost 45 minutes of this by the point he snapped.

Rightly or wrongly, Randolph asked a steward to have a word with the fan a couple of minutes after the shout he took offence to. The steward did nothing to intervene, which I can imagine wound him up even further.

What worried me though was that a player was able to walk past a couple of stewards intent on confronting and possibly physically challenging a fan and nobody stopped him from doing so. The stewards just calmly watched him walk past them and into the stand. Very worrying.

I still think he shouldn't have reacted the way he did, but the abuse for me was way over the line and has been for a number of years now. The guy has been involved in a few verbal confrontations that have threatened to get violent with other fans and Darren Randolph isn't the first Motherwell player to have chipped back at him.

I don't think many people come out of this with any credit to be honest.

  10. Yeah, you're right, how did I forget Livingston Scott, sorry. By the way, I think the phrase you meant to use was 'danced around me at 5's'............

Even that dirty Airdrie hatchet man gave me an easier time than you!!

'Well tops in The Bankton for me tomorrow!

  11. The memorial isn't what I was expecting, but as others have said it has significance to Phil's family so that's quite important....

On the subject of the number 10, when was the last time we actually used it? David Clarkson wore it as he was Phil's nephew, but outwith that we haven't used it so has it been "retired" already?

  12. I certainly though Lasley and Jennings should have been booked before they eventually did. Only my opinion though and I have watched it back a few times.

But that doesn't necessarily mean that any challenges were over the top or "horrendous" which seems to be the general perception.....

  13. are uz sure it wasnt pat mcCourts green army? sounded like that to me if am wrong its fucking disgraceful if thats what they were singing

Definitely not Green army - had the "pleasure" of it being sung a few feet in front of me after the game and then right outside the house.

  14. Celtic fan on the (un)Real Radio phone in was complaining about the number of "horrendous" and "two footed" tackles by Motherwell players yesterday - can anyone recall these?

Burley on ESPN seemed to bang on relentlessly about Jennings' tackle on Commons where he seemed to win the ball to me, and then go on about Jennings again on Commons(?) and how he had "raked his studs down the achilles" when in actual fact he hit the side of Commons' foot.

And Derek Rae on Twitter seemed to suggest that Motherwell got away with a lot yesterday.

So, did this happen and I just have Claret & Amber glasses on?!

And "Paddy McCourt's f****n army" - is this term acceptable now?

  15. So you can't say anything negative about guys if they're getting a game but it's ok to say our bench is weak despite hardly any of them getting a chance? At least with Humphrey and Higdon they've had plenty of chances and contributed very very little... As for Forbes he's had more time than most players get to prove he can cut it and except from a decent couple of months under Gannon he's not shown much at all, several managers have came and went with the same opinion.

I'm not saying people should boo players when at games (although I would maybe make an exception for Bob Malcolm when he was here) but I agree that "passengers" is the right phrase here.

Michael Higdon should just leave now and take Humphrey with him.

Nothing they do will be enough for some folk on here.

Higdon has scored a third of our goals and is top scorer at the club. Those goals have us second in the league. If that constitutes very little then I really hope the rest of the squad step up to the plate and start to contribute very little themselves.

Humphrey seems to be on a poor run of form admittedly, but his presence on the park allows us the opportunity to give him the ball and his pace will get us up the park quickly. He is also playing a part in the team being second in the league.

Forbes, Higdon and Humphrey now have the combined tactical genius of the East Stand and Cooper behind them though - who obviously all have a much better idea of how these professional footballers should play the game or Stuart McCall.

Second in the league and the players aren't good enough. Seriously?

  16. Sorry folks but we've been really lucky on our last 2 games. We aren't playing all that well and carrying 2 passengers in Higdon and Humphrey i can see a heavy 3 or 4 nil coming up. We've been really poor against the OF recently. I so much hope im wrong here but i fear a doing. dry.gif

    Utter shite.

Win as a team and lose a team and these 2 guys have played their part in the team sitting second in the league.

As for Sunday, if we get in their faces and take the game to them then I think we can get something from the game. Stand off them and we could be in trouble.

An early goal either way could be crucial.

  17. Bang On Mate..... couple of weeks ago when Humphrey rounded the keeper and put it over the top, came from a defence splitting pass, which pretty much rendered the Defence useless, Humphrey collected the ball at full pace, instead having to check back or use the stand in start....

Aye, rounded the 'keeper and didn't score :whistling:

Was that an admission that the guy isn't superman from his fan club?!

  18. If he is not going to be hard to deal with I'd have him back in a heartbeat....

As Jay said, it's not as if we are forced to play the same 11 or the same formation week in week out.

He signs as a member of the squad, and if he then gets into the starting 11 and plays well he has the chance to stay in there.

Genuinely believe that he could be a player to benefit from Higdon's lay-offs - very intelligent footballer is Stephen Hughes.

  19. "I was here with Harri Kampmann at one stage, too. Since then there have been quite a few. Guys like Billy and Eric Black, who went down to England, and later Terry Butcher, Jim Gannon, Mark McGhee.

"At one stage John Philliben and Miodrag Krivokapic were in interim charge. I didn't work for Maurice Malpas because I was down south at that stage.

"All of them were excellent in their own way. Not a bad manager among them.

Really Stevie?! Is that what you really think is it?! :whistling:
