  1. Aye but he was a Rangers lad through and through - so if he had joined us then instead of the gers he would have moved to them eventually - and maybe we wouldn't have won the Cup in '91??
  2. My status as a Motherwell Fan is secured!! As for Wellfan....
  3. Would have been Bobby Jenks!! Say what you want though, the man is a legend. Yeah no doubt a few have passed through his net over the years, but he has uncovered a fair few gems. Having met him, he is a top quality bloke and if you ever get the chance ask him about the time he discovered Cristiano Ronaldo!!! Priceless
  4. Did he not get 18 last season? With 9 just now that would take another 9 to beat it and with 15games to go, the high chance he will sign a pre-contract if not sold and the posibillity of injury ever present, no I don't think he will. If he never scored 18 last term and I've got my facts wrong, please ignore everything I've said! But it was 18, wasn't it?!
  5. It could have been to be honest mate - very vague. Tried to find something online about it from Daily Racid or Sun as I'm sure it was in one of them. Alain Sutter did have long blonde hair, so your thinking about the right guy. He was at FC Dallas at the time of Billy Davies tenure and would have been about 30, so there is every chance it could have been him. Turkylimaz was at Grasshopper at the time and later moved to a lower league team - so could have been any of them.
  6. I also remember a mad rumour going about in the summer of '98... Davies was in charge, and he was looking to sign Swiss legend Kubilay Türkyilmaz (mind him!) from Grasshopper after he had fallen out of favour there. Think that one was utter balls though! Think it might even appeared in one of the tabloids here!
  7. Aye, agreed and noted... John Henry = Utter Balls and a Wate of Cash!
  8. Well that just emphasises my point about Big Eck being rank rotten at talent spotting!! Thanks for making me feel reassured in myself. So we have settled on Van der Gaag, Simo and Coyle as his three good signings. Rest = balls!! Roddie = Utter Balls!!
  9. I think Clarkson being given the number 10 shirt is more fitting than retiring it. I bet Phil would have prefferd it the way it is
  10. I heard Kaka only knocked back Man City cause he heard McGhee was looking to strenghten the 'Well!! Think there is as much chance as that happening as any signings in January!! All I can do is hope I'm proved wrong!
  11. What's the point with the prospect of moving to another ground?! Would be a waste of cash that could be used to secure Klimpl long term! Plus from what I've heard through very reliable sources is that we will copy Kilmarnock if/when we move to a new ground and have and ajacent top of the range bar/restaurant/function suite/hotel etc! So while we are all being pacient for that, lets make do with the Electric Bar, Joker, Jacks, Centenary, Cooper and the dirty rangers fir park club!
  12. Forgot about Coyle, and thought Simo was a Kampman signing. I suppose you have a case for Garcin as well just for that freekirk and nothing else! Oh...Matthei! He was no bad, and Doesburg did do a job too! Me finks I'm starting to contradict my initial post about him signing pish! Still...Andy Roddie outweighs any decent signing he made! And he did sign about 20 players when he was at The 'Ark - and so far we have named three good ones and three no bad ones!! Let's not forget he was the man who signed Emersboggie and Nuno Capucho for the Gers! They were both quality signings for us...and every other team in the SPL!!
  13. Aye who needs Ole Gunnar when you've got Andy Roddie!! Ecks transfers dealing were always shocking and with the exception of Van Der Gaag, did he sign anyone who really done a turn for us?!
  14. Totally agree with you mate - 2009 has been a real turn around and I hope it continues! Win, lose or draw the club will always have my support! Mon the 'Well!!
  15. As far as I'm aware there is no longer any ties between MFC and the Social Club - there was in the past but for whatever reason they ties have been cut.
  16. I couldn't agree with you more Andy, and it is a superb point! Football has evolved over the last decade or so, and we are now customers not fans! The money that has consumed football has changed fans attitutdes and perceptions in a negative way. I wonder if the negativity in our game can be releated to the all-seater policy. We are over policed now and helth and safety has gone mad, whereas when I started going to football it was all terracing and their was a much better atmosphere! By introducing the all-seater policy clubs had to fork out major money revamping their stadiums, which got passed onto their fans - and we paid it. But the clubs realised that they could make more money and the prices gradually climbed to the horrific prices they are today - which bestows negativity on us fans, makes us feel more aggrevied and poorer performance and dramatically effects attendances. Even as Scotland's so called "Number One Family Club," we are still just bums on seats to the powers that be and not a vital part of the club. I remember being in Motherwell in '91 when the squad paraded the trophy in an open top bus - it was one of my best memories. If we won a cup now, I don't think that would happen due to a variety of reasons. Bottom line is Football is now a business Bottom line is Football is now a business, and this creeping into the game we love has alienated us, resulting in frustration that we vent on matchdays.
  17. Personally I don't think he will, but I hope I'm proved wrong. A lot of fans say that about Rosco, but I completely disagree! The evidence of how important he was to the squad can be seen in the form this season. He was a player that could always provide a spark, pull something out of nothing and I can't think of a game last season where he didn't provide a bit of magic. It's the same thing I say to the guys I go to the Scotland games with regarding Faddy. They all support various teams and have been critical of him in the past - but he - like Rosco - is a player with great falir, who can be posting missing for 89mins of a game and produce a moment of sheer genius the other minute. The france game being the perfect example - Faddy was relatively quiet all game, but still produced that moment of brilliance. Rosco is a similar type of player, and I feel every team needs that flair player. Last season we had it and we finished third, this season we don't and I don't think we will get third. But again, I hope I'm proved wrong on that. I remember at the Aberdeen game at the start of the season, when we got beat 1-0, as a good example of what Rosco gave us. His greadiness, aggressive attacking and lack of fear would have won us that game. Whereas we struggled to break down the dons defence and lacked that cutting edge, Rosco would have given us that. Therefore that's why I think he was our most important player last season - but maybe not our most consistent.
  18. Found this on the ESPN archive re. Ronaldinho for the Buddies! http://soccernet.espn.go.com/archive/scotl...ronaldinho.html So far that one is the best!
  19. It was 2-1 when we lost to Kilmarnock last year Fudge, but you raise an excellent point. The standing ovation and support the fans showed at the end of that game was incredible, and as you rightly say it was down to the performance. It was a game we totally dominated, playing high paced excitting football. However, Killie had two shots and two goals and we just lacked that bit of luck. Would you get that kind of support of other SPL teams? Definately not the Old Firm. That game against Killie will awalys stick with me as it's the most one sided match I have ever seen in my life! Yeah we lost it, but on another day when Combe wasn't playing as well and lady luck was with us we would have won that game handsomely, with at least four goals. And at full time, when we lost three points (and I think it was our first defeat of an impressive start to the season) the fans still applauded in their numbers the quality of football the boys had produced.
  20. Are you suprised?! South is for Away support and O'Donnell is where all the big wigs sit and I guarantee it will not only be priority for the cleaning staff, but will be maintained to a higher level. Can't be pissing off the 'imporatnt' fans now can we?!
  21. I stand corrected SuperCC, thanks for looking into this. Still doesn't change the fact that they should move it another venue, if not Fir Park somewhere else. Don't know about you, but four call-offs for one cup tie is three more than acceptable in my book and two beyond a complete and utter joke. Surely a move to a nearby stadium would be the best solution.
  22. Gaag, as far as I'm aware it can be switched to Fir Park as long as the home team drawn wish it. I might be wrong in that, but it has happened in the past. As AndyRoss says, East Stirling v Rangers was moved at the request of the East Fife board. Also, I seem to recall a tie between Aberdeen and Elgin a few years back that was switched to Pittodrie. Think that was the League Cup mind you. EDIT: Apologies...dum fuck that I am mixed up my Easts! Ha Ha! Too stressed at work I tell you! Not East Fife board, East Stirling Board!
  23. As far as I'm aware it's only 2nd gen - which when it first opened was excellent. However, it hasn't been replaced since then and has degradded some what. The first team squad never use it for fear of injury to the players, and with the introduction of 3g a few years ago it is now very dated.
  24. This is turning into a farce! Why not move the game to The 'Ark?! I know their gaffer is on about home advantage, etc - but come on! If the game moves to Motherwell then it will surely be more gate money for them and a chance for their part timers to play at a bigger venue in front of a bigger crowd! I predict that the game will finally go ahead a week on Sat after two more call offs next Mon and Wed!
  25. I seem to remember hearing that about Neil Lennon... Don't know if that was a good move or bad move cause he prob would have been a good player for us, but afterall he is Neil Lennon.... Tough one!
