  1. I hope we win... my we newphew is 3 on Sunday and happens to be the mascott - just imagine a home win against Celtic as your first game, where it was also your birthday and you were the mascott... mind you, he is a wee bit young to mind if it all goes to plan!! Seriously though....My heart says 2-1 'Well, my head say 3-0 Celtic.
  2. It's shocking reading that Milo. We badly need another Cup run as the memories of '91 become more and more distant. I think it should be a priority next season. Let's just hope we avoid 1st division sides
  3. If you had a look at my earlier psost I never said Fizzy was the worst player on the park last night. TBH honest, didn't think any of the boys turned up - Clarkson was shocking, Shuggie was hot and cold, Coach was quite, worst game I've ever seen Klimpl playing and Craggs sold the jersey at the end with that stupid attempt to catch Mehmet offside.... The point I made about Fizzy was that he is a backup player and no more... And all the players who were shite last night is more out of character than it was with Fizzy. He is a nice lad, home-grown and has a great work rate - but its not enough in my eyes. I think we are a weaker team when he plays in the middle and short of options when he plays on the left. I'd give him a crack at left back, and let Hammell move onto the wing - maybe he'd do a turn there. And for all you guys who say he's not better than Keef, he was the stand out player for us at the start of the season when things weren't going our way. He ALWAYS start before Fizzy if it was my call, but even he shouldn't be playing cause of Klimpl. For a few years we have badly needed a left sided midfielder as McGhee seems to like a left footer on the left wing - and I think the fact we got Ayidek (is that how you spell it) on loan - a left footed winger - shows that McGhee is looking at options to replace Fizzy. And if Klimpl was injured, and 2nd choice Lasley was injured...dare I say it...I'd start big bad Boab before Fizzy.
  4. Now that's just nonsense!! Klimpl has shown much more in a dozen games than Fizzy has in his entire career!! Leroy has got it spot on. We all know - and accept - he isn't cut out for left midefield, and as a defensive midfielder he isn't near the standard of Klimpl and Lasley. He should be a back up player and no more - yet because we have few lefties in the squad he is starting and ultimately costing us.
  5. I'm sure it was Bobby Jenks who brought Mehmet to Scottish fitbaw - poaching him from down south and signing him for Dunfermline while he was youth coach there. So it's his fault we are oot the Cup!!!!
  6. Yeah your right - because he isn't a winger, doesn't have the skillset. And he's not the greatest passer either. He playes wide left because he has a left foot as that's McGhee's philosophy. I'm eager to see what our new Turkish boy can do once fit... Just out of curiosity, if we had a natural left winger in the squad who done a job for us - would you play Fizzy and if so where? And at the expense of who? Point is, IN MY OPINION, he is all we have and we have to make do.
  7. Agree with you to a certain extent here Frazzle old chap...but just a few points to add: 1/ Clarkson has never been a goalscorer as his 1 goal in 4.5matches tells you - last season was his best return ever for us - and the vast majority of they goals were created from Rosco, Porter and Shug 2/The style of play McGhee plays is passing football - and that hampers midfielders chance of goals. 3/ Sutton is our teams most proven goalscorer and I think he needs to be utilized more than Clarkson to get these goals. But I do strongly agree that the midfield hav to get their finger out and help out with the goals. As much as I rate Shuggie, the boy needs to learn to hit them. How many times has he been in space on the edge of the box and been looking for a pass?! Last season we had a greedy wee bar steward in Rosco, who would try the unthinkable and sometimes it would pay off. We badly lack that this year, but I think O'Brien has the potential to offer that outlet. I feel he should be cutting inside and looking for shots much more! Fizzy isn't a regular goalscorer, neither is McGarry, Lasley or DLS - only a couple of goals a season each if any. And Klimpl is still undetermined, though I'd love to see more of the same that he showed against United - shooting with power from outside the box. So sad truth is, we aren't a goalscoring team - especially with Ports and Rosco away. Hopefully the whole team can try that bit harder and get us the goasl we badly need!
  8. Totally agree - lets rack up as many points as we can before the split then take it from there. Anything is possible... Who would have thought that this time two yeasr ago we'd have acheived what we had?! Have a little faith... Just a little mind - it is Motherwell we are talking about!
  9. Out of all the midfielders we have in our squad Lasley has the highest workrate and by far covers the most ground! But covering ground is no emphasis for a starting place - just means you are fit. Sometimes I think Fizzy is like a headless chicken running about the park - and even after a good few season in the first team squad - he still looks way out of his depth. And thats the sad fact of the matter.
  10. Clarky was shocking last night, but I think he definately has something to offer the club. He is the most inconsistent player at the club, and probably has the worst touch of any proffesional player i've ever seen in my life - but his energy, work-rate, determination and flukiness make him worth having. He is by no means a Scotland international in my eyes - my Scotland fan head is shocked he keeps getting selected! But yet he did score that goal! I think Clarky's lack of technical skill is his greatest weakness and biggest assest. How many times have we seen his miscontrol totally fooling the opposition and leading to a goal? How many times have we seen a first touch that went wild but allowed Clarky to beat a man? He goes on wee runs of form and last season was his best, and most consistent, and I think a lot of that had to do with the workrate of Big Ports. Was never my shout for player of the season though - should have been Shug or Ports - but that's another argument. But 50 goals in well over 200 appearances tell it's own story about Clarky...
  11. Once again we are back to the whole Fizzy situation. I think the facy it keeps appearing on these ere forums in countless threads says it all. He is a good professional, a nice lad and someone who will always give you that 110% effort.... However, the sad matter is he is not good enough for the SPL. Yeah he offers something diffrent being left footed, but I just don't think that's enough. In the few years since he broke into the team he has had one or two oustanding games, and maybe a couple of dozen average games. The rest of the time he seems out his depth. I don't like to beat up on our own players - especially the home grown ones - but I am baffled that he is consistantly picked over Lasley, Murphy and even McGarry. It is said that if you don't notice a player in a game particuallarly, then they are effective. But far too often are we noticing Fizzys below par performances. And while he wasn't the worse player on the park last night, he was his usual unispirring self. I hope he goes on to prove me wrong, but it's been too long in comming and maybe now is the time to let him go... And if and when he does, he will have my best wishes simply for the way he has conducted himself and the effort he has put in during his time at the club.
  12. Pissed off with the result!! With the way we have been playing, all the hype in the press from McGhee, etc, I really thought we were gonna produce the goods tonight and possibly even get by Celtic in the next round. My foolish fault for having that belief as we crash out to a lesser team in the Scottish Cup yet again!! I put a priority on a good cup run over third spot this year as it is way overdue, and I'm angry that the players have let us fans down again... The performance simply wasn't good enough for the full 90mins, and it had the final result written all over it after the first 5mins of the second half.
  13. With regards to the ticket pricing scheme - it was a decision taken by former Chief Ian Stillie and since he has been replaced by Leeann Dempster, maybe her approach is diffrent. Was the whole OF pricing structure of Stillie's not one of the reasons behind him leaving the club?! As for the pitch - we have no defence and I just hope the SPL don't take all of the money got from big Ports sale!
  14. To be brutally honest, I never rated Pearo at all and laughed when Smellic actually paid us for him! But with exception of an excellent game against Barcelona, he was a dud for Celtic and has been found out at ever other club he has since gone to. I agree he was dynamite with the ball at his feet, but he couldn't pass the ball 5yards and for the height of him was the worst player I have ever seen in the air! Maybe McGhee would get more out of him, and he has gained some experience at the clubs he's been at since he left us, but I would be absolutely fumming if we spent any of the Porter cash on him! With rgards to Teale - only ever seen him play for Scotland, and other than a good cross he has been absolutely gash in every game. But heard some positive reviews regarding his club form and could maybe do a job for us.
  15. Jacks, Joker, New Century & Electric all support the club in some way, even though they don't have any affiliation with the club. The Fir Park Club play on an affiliation when there isn't one and refuse to support the club in any way whatsoever, perhaps even going out their way to hamper the club?! Therefore, I think it's very safe to safe to say that it is less of a Well pub in relations to their support for the club.
  16. What? That it all happened to be a wind-up for the very gullable Frazzel?!
  17. Dundee Utd, Hearts & Aberdeen are all losing - we get a winner here it could be the most important goal of our season!
  18. I've been reliable informed the Frazzels source for this possible move is completely wrong! I talked to this "source" you see, and I'm told it was all a wind up! Lasley is going nowehere! You heard it here first!
  19. Did the clun not charter three flights for Nancy? One for the players and the two £500 a pop corporate flights? If that's the case, and due to the short booking time - 2weeks before after the draw was made - that would have cost a considerable amount - prob approaching the £200,000 mark at least! And all the £500 together fees wouldn't have covered that cost - so there is your first loss. The full house at Fir Park was irrelevant as the cheaper admission prices plus the wages of staff (more than normal) meant that it wouldn't have been much profit if any. The stadium upgrades would have cost in the region of £20,000 at least. The club shop is leased, so the merchandise cut wouldn't be as big as you'd imagine. As for \TV money - that's the bit that confusses me. Surely it would have been at least £100k - £200k for both legs? It's all a bit suspect, but all this coupled with the increased expenditure in wages, etc would have taken an estimate from European money into account. End result - not much, if anything, was made from Europe. And that money was spent in advance of the draw being made on wages, etc - hence coffers being tight now.
  20. Echoeing on the previous point from Gav, what Keef has is heart, workrate, versatility and consistency. Can you apply they four attributes to any of the four players...? No You Can't! And while I agree with you - accept for Fizzy (who despite his workrate I've still to be convinced is a SPL player) - I think that Keef's abilities, while not necsessarly an automatic start, make him invaluable to the team! The fact that he can play in all of those position, plus right back, makes him a 5 in one player and what is the chances of the four players plus Coach getting selected before him every single week?! Doubt it. So he will feature a lot the rest of this season as he gives us optinions, and if he can maintain his current form he is a possibility for our player of the year. 275k is not enough to even consider in my eyes as who can we bring in with the cut of that fee McGhee gets that will offer what Keef does and who won't spoit the dummy out if he is not automatic start?
  21. Yeah I heard about it too - but think it is all a bit of a PR stunt by his agent to drum up interest. Think we would have had a look at him, but opted for Fraser for whatever reason. Now his agent is trying to drum up interest and being linked with United is no suprise - afterall there number one is of to smellic!
  22. I know this probably belongs in another thread...but bear with me. In the few two years we have sold MacDonald for £650k, got a reported £700k for Faddy moving to Birmingham, got £250k for Patterson, £120k compenstation for Rosco and qualified for Europe. That all to me is surely worth a few million minimum! So my question...where has it all gone? I appreciate higger wages, pitch repairs etc - but we have only paid out £130k on transfers fees for Hammel! Surely if we do get £400k + for Porter that could be reinvested straight into the squad? Am I missing something?
  23. I'd take him, but only if we could get a good deal. He is a proven goal scorer but also comes with the added baggage of being a complete shag-stain of a boy! Still, we are use to they kinda players...especially wee whores with fat arses a.k.a Skippy.
  24. Wonde rif there is an option to sign either Yantorno or Smith. Would take both of them at The 'Ark - Smith would let Hammell move to the wing where i think he would be more effective, and Yantorno looked the part pre-injury with Gretna last year. As far as I'm aware, it's an SPL rule involving loans between SPL clubs only.
