    Rangers

Jennings was great n the first half, my vote for that second half desevred no votes
  2. just in from a few post match beers i thought we played very well in the first half, kept possession well, good passing and movement, very patient play. sometimes motherwell play better football away from home as they don't have the home fans baying for them to get the ball up the park. absolutely cracking goal, great break and move down the left, good ball in and a stroming header down and up into the roof of the net. really hoped we would then get to 60 mins a goal up. smith must have given them a rocket at half time as they came out a different team and romped through our defence at ease. and we just couldn't stop them, could have been a lot more for rangers. thought jennings was good in the first half, humphreys looked semi dangerous although should have hit the byline more. craigan looked sluggish and sutton was even slower. can't play him in midfield with such a lack of pace.
  3. got tickets for this, should be a good game i'd love a point from this! got to test their defence
  4. Tinker Taylor indeed! To answer another question he has had a press pass on more than once occasion. More difficult to get more the Old Firm but fairly easy to get for other games - if you have track record of photography etc.
  5. because times have changed - short and simple answer if we want to improve scottish football and increase competitiveness then we need stronger clubs and the clear fact is that there are far too many weak clubs, struggling from month to month and season to season with no real future or ambition. scotland has a population of 6 million people, geographically spread out other than the central belt, not enough to support the number of so called professional clubs that we currently have. there should be 3 divisions in scotland, possibly even just two. mergers are the way forward, if they don't happen clubs will just go to the wall anyway.
  6. Scottish football needs a boot up the backside and this could help. I would anticipate a 14 team league rather than 16 though. With Dundee's current financial problems I'd also like to see them merge with Dundee United. That city isn't big enough for two teams.
  7. Sounds like a good appointment to me, following on from Leanne's promotion it seems like the club are building a solid structure to move forward.
  8. the Lasley love-in on this board continues how he can get anyones vote let alone 9 is beyond me did no-one see him give the ball away needlessly a few times? did he make any killer passes or solid tackles?

  10. Jennings started the first half well, Humphrey had lots of the ball but did nothing with it - he really needs to get the ball in the box, good goal though. Going for Craigan as he was solid when the rest of the team were losing it. Two good goals, crazy penalty, no real outstanding player. Should have buried them in the first 20 minutes, they were awful and we should never have let them back into it. Brown was content with a 1-0 win and resorted to 4-5-1 at half time. Really let them into it.
  11. exactly the pathetic drone of 'come on ye well' is not exactly inspiring
  12. Yeah Brown has gone off the boil for Celtic since he had that injury. He looked a fantastic player a couple of years ago when he was linked with Spurs and banging in some goals. I wonder if he has lost a bit of pace.
  13. I'm enjoying this thread! One 'Well player who didn't earn enough caps was Brian Martin, pure class on the ball and greta at reading the game. Although I think he had pretty stiff competition for a slot in central defence around his time. I've not reserached this but I think he only got a couple of caps in friendlies? As for the current team Reynolds and Murphy have a lot of potential but need to bulk out a little bit. At Motherwell players are only ever going to get in the squad if they are performing exceptionally well every week. Otherwise the management will look to experience and those that are testing themselves against higher quality opposition on a regular basis. I still like Ross Forbes although he needs to work on his pace and fitness. He is the best passer of the ball at Fir Park in a while. If he works at his game he could be cracking in a season or two. He's not ready yet though. As for Lasley - no chance. What does this guy do to get forum members creaming their pants over him? Please tell me in detail and provide examples. I don't remember him bossing a midfield in a big game, or taking a scrappy game by the scruff of the neck or providing killer through balls and he certainly isn't a regular goalscorer. So to mention him in terms of getting a call up for Scotland...
  14. RIP indeed Russell was also my rector at High School in Carluke Always a gent, amazing patience.
  15. spot on some of the posts on this thread are hilarious!
  16. thanks for the sensible replied to the thread phoenix, at no time did i suggest i want to get in for free (although that would be nice and i'm sure most people would love a freebie) i'm happy to pay but merely highlighting that i'd go to more games if it was cheaper i don't buy a season ticket at the current prices as i don't go to every home game and i don't agree with the price of the tickets. i would go to more games and consider buying a season ticket if they were cheaper and would be delighted if Motherwell led by example with an initiative to encourage more supporters to get into the ground. not just people of my age (mid-30's) but kids too. when i was a kid the claret and amber club got you into games for £1! for a dad to take two kids to see motherwell is costing £40-£50 plus food, drinks and programme. it can't last. johnstone - very good idea about the bbc putting the spl highlights on on a saturday night
  17. away games are often better than the home games, as is the atmosphere just trying to say that there are a lot of people out there who would go to more games if prices were lower. it is stating the obvious but i really think that sooner or later something dramatic will have to happen in scottish football to encourage people to attend games motherwell should take the lead
  18. Does anyone know, or would anyone like to hazard a guess at how much income is generated by the sale of season tickets at Motherwell? I was just reading online about FC United of Manchester, the club set up by disillusioned supporters of Manchester United who were fed up with increased prices and the glazers takeover. They set up a scheme where people could pay what they can afford and what they think represents value. Radiohead did a similar thing with the release of one of their albums. FCUM set a target of £125,000 and while they haven't achieved it, they are close with 951 season tickets sold bringing in income of £105,000. An average of just over £110 per season ticket. Now I don't have a season ticket for Motherwell, at the current prices I have no interest in buying one, but with the number of empty seats at the ground for the majority of games I can't help but think that something needs to be done - not just at Motherwell but at the majority of Scottish clubs. It would be fantastic if Motherwell took the initiative and allocated a stand, or sections in the East Stand/Cooper where people could pay what they want for a season ticket (maybe setting a limit of £100). It's almost £300 for a season ticket in the Cooper or East Stand. Too much. It might work out well if you go to every home game. If you don't there is no in between. In the current climate I pick and choose my games. Going to some at home and the odd away. However if there was an option to buy a season ticket at around £200 I (and I'm sure many others) would take it up and attend more games, putting bums on seats and adding the support of the team and the atmosphere in the ground. Opinions and ideas welcome.
  19. yet another ridiculous thread one game at a time and all that! exciting to think what could happen but ffs calm down
  20. this thread shouldn't exit. one game at a time and all that i agree with the one sensible post in that everyone who wants a ticket will get one.
  21. he can't be up to scratch if that is who he is on loan to!
  22. the atmosphere at Fir Park is terrible, you could have heard a pin drop at times during the last game. i personally hope the away fans make loads of noise as it might wake up some of the home support.
  23. i think the new training tops are much better than the actual strips will be treating myself to one of them soon
  24. it IS on at The Pub my mate has just confirmed
