Close one between Las and Skippy. Went for Las as he set the tone with his drive, energy and enthusiasm, not to mention great running to win the pen.
-
Thats the team I'd pick also.
-
Completely disagree about Pearson, he's be awful for weeks and it came as no surprise to me that in recent weeks the only game we've won he was missing. For some reason we have a support (on here at least) that would rather criticise Lasley. Las has had a poor season by his standards but part of the reason he makes mistakes is that he's in the game 90-95% of the time, unlike Pearson who plays when he feels like it, which in the middle of the park we really can't afford. To be honest his style of play hasn't changed much since he was with us first time round i.e disappears for 20/25 mins and then does something eye catching, then disappears again, we can't afford that in a relegation battle. For that reason he'd be taking a seat on the bench if it was up to me!
-
With my limited knowledge he seems to do a good job. Certainly works exceptionally hard and without doubt has the clubs best interests at heart and as fans that's all we can ask. He seems to be forward thinking and deffo makes an effort to understand fans point of view (I know this from personal experience)
-
Was also at all of those games and fully agree with all of this, particularly the team selections in the Hearts and ICT games and the criticism of players in public. Suppose you could put both the Thistle and Hamilton games down the bad luck but the late subs he made certainly didn't help! Heres hoping for an improvement in team selection and result today!

This is the team I would play as well, although possibly given Ainsworth a start on the right rather than Johnson.
-
What a stubborn, pig headed, arrogant manager we have. From blaming Ainsworth in public during the week to coming up with a tactical disaster today, that he then refused to change until 15 or so mins to go. Not often mad after our games (disappointed a lot), today there is one man to blame for our defeat and he's the one that makes (or doesn't) the big decisions. Not quite demanding his head but he really needs to take some responsibility for that shambles. The set piece goal (which to be fare may have come from him) should not deflect how bad that was today. Not a Pearson fan to be honest but much of his poor performance today was down to where the manager deployed him. Cadden tried hard but should not have lasted the whole game and Lasley had his poorest game for a long long time, again due to the system.
-
Another terrible first half performance. Pearson looks lost where he's been asked to play, McDonald isolated and there's nothing for defenders to hit when playing long balls. Get Moult on at HT for Cadden or Pearson and at least give it a go. Bet he waits until it's 2-0 before he changes it though.... Rapidly going off McGhee and his arrogant style.
-
Whoever voted for Pearson was either not at the game or blink drunk.......just when we needed him to step up and be the main man in midfield he did a disappearing act. Moult and McDonald the only two coming anywhere close to pass marks.
-
Interesting how we all see things differently! I thought McDonald had a good first half, but very poor in the second half. Laing had a good game? Maybe in the first half, in the second half I counted three major mistakes, stopped the ball going out for a corner and instead put it back in the 6 yard box, then one came off his thigh and fortunately landed on McManus' head (again in the 6 yard box) then he scored the OG! I think he will turn out to be a good signing for us but not his best game yesterday in my opinion. Thought Las was outstanding again and our best player by some way. Was impressed by Ripley and Fletcher. Deserved at least a draw but having 3 strikers and 2 wingers on the pitch at the end was always going to make it likely that one of the teams would go on and win it. Thought Leitch had a poor game, however when Clarky came on for him I thought we lost all shape with Las being the only midfielder on the pitch for us! Ah well onwards to Wednesday, wonder if Chalmers could play a holding midfielder role with Ainsworth coming in for Leitch.

The Rangers V Motherwell Spfl Playoff Final 28/05/15
couttsy replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Season ticket holders should have got first dibs today and tomorrow and they would most likely have bought them all, if not they could have gone on sale to others on the database Wed & Thu. Seriously considering chucking it over this whole episode, clubs wanting empty seats rather than selling them to fans who want to see their team allied to not looking after season ticket holders first (the lifeblood of the club after all). A terrible season heading all over the country watching us play poorly ends with me missing the biggest game of the season because I didn't happen to be close to Fir Park at 3:30pm on a bank holiday Monday afternoon? WTF..........Scottish football again a bloody shambles (admittedly not all Motherwell's fault) but a bloody shambles all the same, yet I'm expect to come back with 6/7 hundred quid next season for my season ticket and away games? I'd need to be a mug..........yet to be seen if I am! -
The Rangers V Motherwell Spfl Playoff Final 28/05/15

I see this a bit differently! Have the club stood up to Rangers? Why then if we have a smaller ground are they getting more tickets for FP than we are for Ibrox? Should have given them 2% of FP the same as we are getting at Ibrox. And why the hell were the Ibrox tickets not sold to season ticket holders first? -
Someone in our coaching staff made a great call at half time on Saturday. We stopped challenging McGennis and Miller for the first ball as they were playing for free kicks (and getting them) every time we challenged them in the 1st half. In the 2nd we layed off them and challenged the 2nd ball and it worked a treat, not normally something I would think a good idea but their lack of pace through the middle up front meant we could get away with it. Horrible mistake by Long and looked suspect all day, however he was fouled 3 times by Miller in the 1st half without a card being produce, there's just no precedent for that now a days, you're lucky to get away with it once without a card now a days, never mind 3 times. I wouldn't change the keeper at this stage, not convinced Dan is any better and just as likely to make a mistake. It will hopefully give Long some confidence to know the manager is still backing him.

Very worrying times indeed. We must beat St Johnstone one way or another a week on Saturday (I'm writing off Utd away as a defeat). One of the most galling things apart from the obvious is our lack of putting a foot in, committing fouls, getting yellows, breaking the play up and generally getting in teams faces. It's an absolute must when week after week you are facing teams who have better players than you. According to the BBC stats Celtic had a shot 17 shots at goal i.e must have been pouring through our defence yet we commit 4 fouls all game a get our one and only yellow card in the 84th min. Weak weak weak

Motherwell fans turning on Keith Lasley, heard it all now......disgraceful! Do the players need to take a hard long look at themselves, of course, do some of our 'fans' (and I use that term loosely) need to have a think before they shout/post, undoubtedly! Keith Lasey has had a poor season by his standards (although still managed to be 1 of our 4 or 5 better players in most games in my opinion), the rest of the midfield is struggling and yes Keith is another year older, however he is currently just being asked to do too much, going to Dundee and playing what was essentially 4 forwards after what we all witnessed at Hamilton was a big mistake from our new manager. Did Keith Lasley play a huge part in getting us to best of the rest 3 years in a row? Does Keith Lasley always give his all? To point the finger at him when the rest of the team is struggling as it is really is disgraceful (short memory's as fans).
-
Whilst Baraclough hasn't had long and has a huge amount of injuries to contend with, for me he has missed the fundamentals of what you should do when your struggling i.e pack the midfield, protect the defence and try to stop losing goals. Today we are (or were until Ojamma fancied a way out) playing with what is essentially 4 forwards, no bloody surprise the defence is under pressure and no surprise Lasley ends up running around like a headless chicken trying to do the work of 2 or 3. Not a popular move but given the injuries I would have played Reid in midfield with Las and Carswell, dropped Ainsworth and kept Watt at left back. Stating the obvious but we are in big big trouble, particularly with Ojamma now suspended and then maybe offski. Had thought until the Accies game that we had enough about us to escape, however I'm not so sure now. I also believe 2 teams will go down as whoever from the Championship makes the play off final (likely to be Rangers or Hibs) will deffo beat 2nd bottom the SPL. Worrying times......

Spot on! I dont post often but cant believe what I am reading! Yeh, time for a change in direction, obviously finishing 3rd, 2nd and 2nd in three consecutive seasons under McCall is not good enough! Eh, this is Motherwell guys.. what the hell do we expect?! We have had some horrible cup results and the last 4 or 5 games have been hard work but bloody hell show the man some loyalty after what he has deliver over his time in charge. Some of you guys are in for a serious wake up call, Stuart McCall has massively over achieved as have Motherwell over his time in charge, end of! I suspect when we look back this will turn out to be one of the purple patches in our history (just a pity we have managed to lift a trophy).
-
Best post I have read on here in a long time! Whilst it's disappointing to lose games we are expected to win do we really need the mass hysteria we see on here every time it happens? Stuart McCall has his faults and the fact that he sometimes doesn't seem to learn can be hugely frustrating, however in the most part he has done a fantastic job! We will, collectively, as a support look back on the last 5 or 6 years as being one of the best periods in the clubs history! Winning games, scoring goals, best of the rest, getting into Europe, let's not let 2 or 3 games (and I know it's frustrating) cloud what we have achieved over the last few years. One day, and maybe soon Scottish football will go back to being dominated by the city clubs (because they have the most money)
-
I suspect we'll see 4-4-2 with Kerr, Hammell, Hutch and Mick at the back, Vigurs, Reid, Leitch and Ainsworth in midfield and Anier and Sutton up front. I worry we'll get over run in midfield without Lasley, Carswell or even Lawson who are all willing to put their foot in but I suppose options are minimal!
-
Does anyone know if the game will be on in "the pub"?
-
Best memory of Parkhead is Kevin Twaddle thrashing one in, Shaun Teale got sent off and came and sat in front of me for the second half. Benito Kemble was dynamite that night!
-
Thanks. Will give it a go. If I need to pay for her then so be it.
-
Anyone know if an OAP's concession season ticket is the same as a child's? My dad is missing tomorrows game and my daughter would like to use his ticket to come along to her first game at FP.
-
Lasley just ahead of Humphrey for me!
-
Would love to go up to this one but don't fancy driving, I live in EK, anyone know what supporters buses are running and how you go about getting on one?
