Heard on Radio Scotland that one SPL club's entire wage bill of £1.3? million is funded by setanta money. Who pays wages like that

Bugger enthusiasm, we need a manager with a PROVEN track record at our level or higher. We've got a European campaign starting in just over three weeks, and a new league campaign a few weeks later, with a wafer thin squad and very little cash to strengthen it, plus we've just seen nearly 25% of our annual income go down the swanee today.
Now is not the time to be giving untried, untested, ex-players a wee shot at the managers chair.
I think you'll find Luc is neither untried nor untested

I don't think it is a case of finally admitting mate - we like to try and conduct business like that as professional and quiet as possible but with Aberdeen putting something up on their website then it would be foolish of us not to acknowledge.
Cheers
'Flow
While you're there, @Flow, give Mr Boyle a hint thatLuc Nijholt is a free agent...................... No compensation
-
For the Nijholt camp
Get 'Flow to show mr Boyle this thread and Poll sharpish ...........then Phone Him!

Interestingly most of the people who have voted for him in this poll could not answer that question for you. A serious case of heart ruling the head. Not saying he'd be a poor manager. But had he not played for Motherwell and his managerial CV was submitted for the job, I suspect it would be fired in the bin...
Of the top of my head, he did well with the youth system at AZ Alkmaar, ( the fruits which have shown this season) then went onto Stormvogels and worked fairly well with a bottom end team and no budget, and was headhunted to join Red Bulls for his coaching ability.
-
My choice would be Luc Nijholt,
-
Not with THAT exhaust

For Me
Best - the 5-3 win over Dundee Utd last-last season was a great all round performance.
And
Worst- The 4-1 Humping at the hands of Dunfermline was dire enough never mind the -4 goals and the 2 red cards
-
Might be a very good shout Craig - i'll check that out tomorrow actually. If that were the case though, then surely we could go down the same avenue given we are sponsored by a Bookies?
Our Nancy game shirt was without sponsor so if we progress in the Europa league we may get that again. I know I have bought the Xara black and white away strip without sponsor

Lots of wierd names and small teams from small countries! We should breeze the first round but you can never tell with Motherwell, it depends on what team shows up on the night.
I remember thinking that about MYPA 47

I was born in Hillhead in Glasgow and apart from 0-4 years old (when I was in Glasgow) I have never ever lived within 30 miles of Motherwell. My folks got divorced and my Old Man had the choice of taking me to either watch Hillhead Rugby or Motherwell every other month.
He took me to my first Motherwell game in Dec 1975 and it was love at first sight. Well the truth as I remember it was that it was freezing and I wanted to go home.
Let's look on the bright side. I could have been a Partick Thistle fan if I had supported my nearest club
Oh you lucky man, I could've been a .............................Dread........................ Fear ........................Jambo .AAAAAAAAARGH

He's kidding himself if he thinks he's not going to get just the same treatment from all the ex-pat Old Firm neds in Oz, though!
Bed made -> lie on it, I'm afraid...
Was thinking the same myself there ,
But good luck to him, I have no ill feeling towards him
-
He lives not far from my kids place and I believe he is related to my ex's neighbour so I'll see if I can get some info
I also believe he wrote a book not long ago and I'm sure it was sold from the Fir Park shop ( maybe wrong here tho )
-
I had seen one paper reporting that it would be around the £200K figure if Celtic wanted him. Once again though that's down to where the paper gets it's info from.
I would imagine that Aberdeen would be hard pushed to find that sort of money, as well as at least match his wages, a transfer kitty then pay any other compo if McGhee wanted Leitch to go as well.
All if's and buts' and present though and we should really be looking ahead to a few weeks time and what players we are likely to sign for the start of the Europa League.
Iwould be inclined to say to celtic, " ok bring your biscuit tin over and lets talk" then when they arrive I would say " not that biscuit tin, the bigger one" then when they come back I'd say .." looks like you might need both biscuit tins.............. And a cheque book! "
-
If McGhee stays then all is 'Well but if he goes then my hope would be Luc Nijholt
-
Livi would be perfect for me because I only live about 25 minutes away.
10 the way your dad drives
-
Anywhere in Wales will do me lovely Pity Aberystwyth aren't in it
-
As far as I am concerned Mark McGhee is our manager until he actually says he is going! Not any budgies grannie or pal of a pal who heard from the Ice cream vanman . He has stated on several occasions that he has a job to finish here so let him get on with it

10 points lost this season to that shite. And they are. Thought we were a wee bit all over the place at the back at times, and were getting regularly caught out down either wing when the visitors attacked. Still, bigger picture I guess was the European issue and I will be absolutely gobsmacked if we don't get that place now.
I actually thought the guys were out there playing as if it was a training stint some nice touches here and there but no real power in attack ,just going through the motions.
-
Imrie and Morais impressed me when they came down and with the possibility of Hutchison pairing with Mclean and The possible addition of Lee Beevers then I think we could afford to sell young Mark Reynolds and the money from his sale plus the savings on the others leaving then we could get a wee pot going for transfers.

Can Tims read ??????
my cousins do but they have had to concede the fact that My kids and I are true 'Well fans as we are and I quote His words " Stupid enough to travel all the way from Edinburgh" and I can usually shut him up with " but not stupid enough to be bigoted!!!"
-
Maybe to watch his old club perhaps? Or even on his way back up north!
or maybe BOTH his old clubs
-
Totally agree mate, always thought we should get into pre season games for nothing as a thank you from the club to season ticket holders, to charge for these warm up training games is a farce, and although having went to some when i was a lad wouldnt pay for now.
To be fair, they don't charge very much and our clubs needs as much help in the way of funds as we can give

And his work with the youths at AZ Alkmaar ,also his assistant coach roles where his coaching skills have proved successful , the reason he was head hunted for Red Bull.
