  1. i think the time we are losing the goals in is telling as well. The vast majority recently in the second half and a fair few right before half time which suggests that fitness is an issue.
  2. the buck has to stop with the manager due to the contracts he handed out last summer and the systems he employs. That midfield selection was unbelievable on saturday. With the players we have contracted and the need to cut the budget i don't see things improving next season. Does anyone know the details of ramsden's injury beyond ”knee”?
  3. it's not all about the bigger picture. People travel up and good money so it's not much to expect competence from the manager and the team.
  4. we played compact defensive formation against celtic because they had scored 10 against us. United had 9 goals against us but we started off 4-4-2. Cifti has ripped us everytime so mccall gets vigurs to man mark john rankin. Mccall and black have no idea how to make a team defensively sound and have no chance of managing at a higher level.
  5. sums up our season. Mccall should offer mcnamara his spot on moty list after the game.
  6. deflected off faddy's hand, it would have been a pen if not a goal. despite some poor reffing we were well beat and then some. i think it will be lesson learned today and we will line up much more defensively and we'll see a better attitude from the players.
  7. i'll pass on a repeat of the llanelli home leg but the rest sounds good.
  8. i watched a bit of doncaster last friday and he had a good game and he was getting praised on sky on monday when they kept millwall scoreless with ten men. if hammell was 6ft 1 like quinn he probably wouldn't have played 100 games for us.
  9. the problem is that we're committed to lawson, cummins, mchugh, nielsen and ramsden's dodgy knees.
  10. this would have been a good thread a year ago when mccall played omar daley ahead of erwin in a dead game on the final day as well as two guys who had signed for other clubs and had no interest in playing for the 1300 motherwell fans who had travelled through to perth and shelled out 20 quid. i don't see how it applies now though.
  11. who's out of contract? hollis, mcmanus, hammell, lasley, mcfadden and reid with ainsworth's loan being up. anyone else?
  12. considering the drubbings they have given us in the last two games i'd keep reid in to sit in front of the back 4. leitch played better than vigurs so i'd keep him and drop vigurs for lasley. ainsworth was on the bench on saturday and up at inverness because he can't be trusted to mark or work hard especially away from home, putting him up against robertson would madness as that was a big reason why we got spanked so badly the last time. we might say zaine up against robertson as he was against izzaguire on saturday for a period. we're in a strong position now so there is no need to chase the game, a point suits us.
  13. if hibs get relegated they should seriously consider switching to another sport. the 5-1 final, getting pumped off celtic in the final a year later, 9-0 to malmo and losing to hearts in the quarter final of the LC this year is terrible but getting relegated when they should be laughing at hearts going down would be something else.
  14. 2 mins 10 into that video. ojamma played for it but it wasn't one of his more blatant dives.
  15. izzaguire on humphrey. stonewaller.
  16. i think his height and lack of pace is what held him back. he's a far better defender and footballer than the likes of whittaker, wallace and hutton but they have the advantage due to their builds.
  17. las made his debut later, a 2-0 defeat at ibrox on 10/12/2000. mcculloch is the rangers captain and adams isn't playing but got battered by jamie hammill at the weekend.
  18. that's right, it was the 22nd of april 2000. we got beat 2-1.
  19. this will be a big milestone for stevie 14 years after making his debut, hopefully we can secure european football and make it a memorable day. keith might have to let him keep the armband for a bit longer. would i be right in saying that joe wark would have been the last player to achieve 500 appearances for us? joe played 469 league games for us and stevie is on 429 at the moment so that record is well in his sights if he signs a two year deal.
  20. rangers are a shambles but it'll still be pretty easy for them to get back to their old position given the lack of competition in scotland. birmingham could well be the next portsmouth.
  21. i wouldn't go to birmingham, they are murder and their owner is in hong kong jail. they could still go down as well. i hope he goes down south, the championship would suit him and he would get a fairer deal from the refs down there.
  22. if there moaning about us being physical we're doing something right. We should be letting dundee united know we're up for it early next week as well, we'll see how many of them are thinking about the cup final.
  23. hutchy is being linked to rangers again. it would be a shame to see him play for another scottish team but it's his career. it's gutting he only has never 4 games in claret and amber.
  24. getting knocked out of the cups due a combination of a managerial stupidity and gutless players has cost us dearly. The fans have to pay though while the players bonuses are honoured.
