  1. so says steelmen online's number one dundee united fan.
  2. our record against lower league opposition over the past two seasons. p 5. w. 5 for 16 against 0 we're as good against lower league teams as we are bad against the old firm.
  3. if the idea is abandoned you get your money back.

if he knocks back this deal we'll have a new world record for from love in to backlash. this could be another canterbury thread.
  5. that sums it up for me. goodwillie's a good player but not a great player. his value increased because he was scoring on a regular basis even although a lot of his goals were tap ins, deflections and pens and because united and their media contacts were consistenly hyping him up. if money is so important to the club then we should have been doing everything we can to boost his value. the fact that he hasn't started a game up front since august suggests to me we haven't done that. clubs will pay for players with goals and/or a bit of skill, murphy has spent more time defending than attacking this season.
  6. i thought it was the case that once the society was up and running your money was locked in and you were a member for life? i understand what you are saying about the need for short term money but the directors didn't present our situation as such at the meetings a few months ago. if they expect people to invest then they should be willing to present relevant information about exactly what we're investing in.
  7. just on sky sports news... a tony dorigo, tony yeboah dream team
  8. i thought that would be the case. as i said above charlie adam on 10k a week was their highest paid player in the epl and most of the remaining members of their squad got their wages chopped in half when they got relegated.
  9. as i said on the other thread it isn't exactly encouraging for fans who are considering joining when they see the club selling players what for they percieve to be cheap prices. the difference in the reported amounts of murphy's and maguire's transfer fees was 150k which is the equivalent of 500 fans investing. at the meeting i attended the directors said that we were spending 1.8m a year on player wages which could lead to the club losing money if we had a bad season but would be fine if we got top six or a decent cup run. the impression i got from the meeting was that the club was running ok at the moment and the aim of the society was to secure against any problems further down the road. the existence of the society should lead to improved levels of communication from the boardroom to the support but the club should be starting that now rather than later to encourage people to get on board. at the meeting it was stated that any money invested would be for a rainy day and that they were confident of raising £1m (which far fetched tbh). is that the case or is it not? i can understand why the board would want to put a positive spin on our situation but i would rather know exactly where we stand. i intend to sort out my membership at the end of this month but i have more doubts now than i did a few weeks ago.
  10. i don't think blackpook would be offering him much more than he was on at fir park. we have a small squad but all our first team players are relatively well paid. charlie adam was their top earner at ten grand a week in the epl and the chairman apparently chopped everyone's wages in half when they got relegated. he might be thinking he can make more money from either a better move or a bosman at the end of next season.
  11. i was well up for joining the society but if we have accepted a 250k bid for murphy then i'll be thinking it over carefully. when you look at what maguire, grimmer, eggert jonnsonn, allan and these falkirk boys have left for then 250k for a guy who has performed at u21 level and in europe is a joke. all of their clubs are in far worse financial positions than ours yet they seem to be able to get a better deal for their players. what's the chance we will ever get a better deal for murphy (or anyone) now that the world knows we'll sell anyone for the first pishy offer that comes in? at the society meeting i attended there was no mention of having to flog players on the cheap, the tone of the meeting was that things were running smoothly at the moment and the society was there to prepare for any downturn in the future. if the society is to work then there has to be better communication between the club and the fans, explain why the club felt inclined to accept 150k less for jamie murphy than aberdeen got for an out of contract chris maguire. that's the equivalent of 500 fans putting in their 300 quid to join, i'm sure there will be some like me who will be wondering what the point of putting your money in is if the people running the club don't be prepared to fight for every penny in transfer dealings. when you compare our attitude to transfers to dundee united it's shameful. goodwillie wasn't a world beater last season, he scored loads of deflections, tap in and pens but united hyped him up made him the focal point of their team and demanded a high price for him. this season they have slapped a ridiculous price tag on jonny russell. compare to us who's biggest asset starts the season on fire playing up front then is moved out wide for the st mirren game and then spends the next five months marking fullbacks as a wide midfielder. it's no wonder we don't get any decent bids when mccall has seemed determined to turn him into marc fitzpatrick.
  12. aberdeen got 400k for chris maguire who was out of contract, we should be looking for at least that much. getting out of fir park might be the best thing for jamie, i don't think mccall is interested or capable of bringing him on as a player. whent the manager thinks omar is a better option than you up front it's probably time to move on.
  13. it's impossible to erase the scars of killie (h), dundee utd (h), st mirren (h), hearts (a) ict (h) but hopefully the manager realises that 2 up front is the way forward and we won't have to suffer again. there were complaints because we were dire. there won't be any when we're good.
  14. is it not the case that mccall and the team have turned things around? postiejim laid down a challenge for improvement and it's been met.
  15. daley was rotten against united, worse than a man down. humphrey got a goal and has done well in the past against st johnstone. i'd give him a start tomorrow.
  16. broadfoot's twitter gives his location as hampden and offers a link to his employers website. it might not be an 'official' sfa account but an sfa employee telling fans to fuck off on a public forum is surely unacceptable?
  17. it would be a bit of a slap in the face offering a 29 year old a one year deal. and it makes no sense that we would have two testimonianls in the one season.
  18. we'll show those tiki taka c***s how it's done. take note messi!
  19. st johnstone are chronically slow at the back so hopefully our pace will exploit that. on the other hand they're all big bastards and we'll be smaller than usual, randolph will come and claim high balls the way he was on tuesday.

mccall said on the radio last night that he has the same agent as law and hutchinson so hopefully he shouldn't be too hard to deal with.
  21. he was much improved today even although i don't think he managed a shot. however i would wait to see whether it's down the support of the crowd, the added support or the two jokers at the back for dunfermline. all in a good performance, it's amazing how much better we are with two players up front. it's a shame mccall was intent on boring everyone for three months before he accepted it.
  22. smart man. i hated that useless teuchtar prick.
  23. this is why i'm against video evidence. tv companies shouldn't be involved in decisions or discipline.
  24. i'd have scored at least 2 of the 5 chances he had today. just off the blower to big vinny. 3 game ban in the offing. shocking attitude towards the people who pay his wages. hopefully he does a bit of cardio during his break.
